I mentioned this somewhere a few months ago. Specifically these items to watch. It could have been in a BS thread. DD gets a commodities report and these items were top of the list.
Dennis, those are the crazy price increases I'm seeing here in S. CA desert. I think Restaurant owners are starting to get scared. I don't think they will be able to keep raising prices much longer without losing their customers. When a couple of to go Wet Burritos cost 30 bucks then it's time to rethink eating out. You see a lot of working guys eating lunch around here and with gas approaching 5 bucks along with lunch everyday it's not going to be happening much longer.
As a side note my neighbor didn't receive her food stamps when expected so she called me out of food. Anyone else on here not receive them?
I don’t know which is more bothersome in your post!
The prices....OR the fact someone called you because they have NO FOOD?!!
Wow.
As a side note my neighbor didn't receive her food stamps when expected so she called me out of food.
What!!? Omgosh!!Tylenol today at the pharm. $20 for 150 generic. Very few choices on top of that.
She is almost completely handicapped. She won't be rioting anytime soon.So.....a real world example of what they do before they start rioting, looting and hijacking grocery delivery trucks?
Good to know. Forwarned is forarmed.
Oh ok, well then this is a different scenario. Poor woman. She is almost completely handicapped. She won't be rioting anytime soon.
I read the op as 'she called me out' instead of 'she called me, (she's) out of food'. The lack of a comma may have caused some confusion.Oh ok, well then this is a different scenario. Poor woman.
Sorry about that. My lack of schooling strikes again.I read the op as 'she called me out' instead of 'she called me, (she's) out of food'. The lack of a comma may have caused some confusion.

I guess it must be my Baptist upbringing doing me in. Mathew 25: 31-46................
No, not this one, but still, somehow, she's been trained to call you when she's out of food and obviously/allegedly can't buy any for herself. Unless she called simply to complain about Uncle Sugar(?), but your post didn't sound that way. Sounded like, besides complaining, she wanted/expected you to do something about her being "out of food".
This lady? Might be fine to help out in a pinch, but times are still good. When they aren't, all of the people saying they are "out of food" won't be handicapped.
Excellent idea. My wife and I live in Central Texas, but we have relatives in Southeast Texas, Chicagoland and Phoenix. It can work both ways, of course. At that price it might be worth it to have someone mail you a care package. Just checked local H‑E‑B in Texas, and 500 extra strength coated tabs, generic, is $2.01 (& is in stock).
Agree completely. My wife and I have discussed this at length, and we may be compelled to make decisions that will keep us awake at night, but self-preservation is a strong instinct, and I'm not here to feed the neighbors.................

We have noticed that the cans of fruit don't seem to keep long. We have also had problems with tomatoes eating through the cans. One thing I just noticed checking inventory expiration dates in my preps. Kroger’s canned fruit with the peel off lids. Some with a year left to them have swollen on the tops and bottoms. Distinctly noticeable from others. The tin seems very thin. We just threw out about 8 cans that we would be afraid to eat. They were bought only a few months ago.
The name brand cans without the peel off lids look fine. No more off brand veggies and fruit.
As the National Hurricane Center is fond of saying just before landfall of a major hurricane, "....All preparations should be rushed to completion..."My husband went to Aldi's here in central Illinois last night. He said they low or were out of many things. He called me kind of panicky. He mentioned to the stocker he came across that "the store sure is out of a lot of stuff", to which the stocker replied "We have been informed to expect 500 items out of stock next month."
It’s started, for sure now.My husband went to Aldi's here in central Illinois last night. He said they low or were out of many things. He called me kind of panicky. Same here in N. E. Ohio. Both Aldie’s and Dollar General were low on stock. Our Aldi's in West Central Ohio was low also on many things. Toilet paper isle was bare same way at the Dollar General. DG was low, really low on foods.
As did the GRAMMAR POLICE!!! You have been warned apparently.....lolSorry about that. My lack of schooling strikes again.

Darn it!!! got caught!!!!You mis-spelled grammar...
It’s been this way at our Meijer for a while. Back in June I bought a can of red spray chalk paint for a project I was working on. Turned out I needed a second can. It’s now almost November, and I still can’t find that second can. Not at Meijer or Home Depot or any of the hardware stores. They’ve all had signs up about the paint shortage.Just got back from Meijer in Richmond, IN.
LOW T.P. and paper towel and limits of 2 per person.
But what got my attention was in automotive/home there was very few cans of spray paint. No real colors left just tans and some specialty paint.

Just for fun I went back to compare prices on a few things a year ago at Smiths (Kroger):
2 pack chicken breast
2020: $3.21
2021: $5.17
Kroger bacon
2020: $4.49
2021: $5.99
18 count eggs
2020: $1.79
2021: $2.79
Kroger butter
2020: $3.29
2021: $3.99
i bet you didn't get a 22% raise this year did you.......chicken breast: $5.17/$3.21 = 1.61, or a 61% price increase in one year
Kroger bacon: $5.99/$4.49 = 1.33, or a 33% price increase in one year
18 count eggs: $2.79/$1.79 = 1.56, or a 56% price increase in one year (1.558 rounded to 1.56)
Kroger butter: $3.29/$3.99 = 1.21, or a 21% price increase in one year
Damn!!
