I listed in another thread already, if you smoke keep an eye open. At the gas station this morning the cashier told someone trying to buy Marlboro lights that they had none of those at all, none.
He sod they got booted off of the ordering portal after waiting for 45 minutes.
Has no idea when they’ll be getting any.

They had the other kinds of that brand, just nothing in light it ultra light left.
So I glanced at the racks behind him and to me, it all looked more sparse but could t really tell

I got everything on my list with only one exception:
Frozen hash brown patties out of stock

Colby jack cheese slices (ordered 8 pack got 16 pack same price)
2 4 packs canned green beans (supplement pups food- I have 2 crates stored)
3 small cans tomato sauce
Molasses (want to make gingerbread cookies)
White chocolate chips
M&Ms
3 pack Yeast (small one use packets) I have a pound in the freezer but saving it for when it's no longer available
Rice 2#
2 cans diced Jalapenos
Sourdough bread
Jimmy Dean sausage patties
4 Jose Ole Chicken burritos (probably the most unhealthy thing I can eat LOL but craving them)
Eggs 18 count
Butter
Ice
Bottled water 24pack
Oscar Mayer bologna
Ground Beef 85/15 on "sale" for $4.99/ pound  I usually do lean but making chili so like a little more fat. Lean ground beef is $7.99 a pound but I have enough in my freezer
Bananas
Spring salad mix
Bell peppers
Onions
Garlic

Thank God I had coupons because the original total for that was $85!! I paid $69.07 which is still a lot!!! Good Lord!!

The problem with this is it gets stale. I had been stocking up and realized this and had to dump some. I never realized they have expiration dates of sodas!

Have you ever tried some beyond the expiration date? Just a guess, but you can probably triple the expiration period and still have perfectly good stuff. Whatever you do, don't dump food. If things get sporty, you'll be glad to have the expired stuff.

Soda doesn't age well. Its okay after the expiration date but not for long. Expiration dates are usually out 6 to 8 months. What I bought a month or six weeks ago has April, 2022 expiration. Mine will be gone by then because I don't overstock Pepsi. In fact, with prices the way they are now I may not buy it again at all. It used to be on sale for 4 cartons (12 cans each) for $8, then 4 for $10, then 4 for $12 which is the last I purchased. Last advertised price I saw was 4 for $13.

I've always shopped with eye to food value so seldom buy prepared foods, packaged mixes, chips, cookies, pastries or candies. Pepsi has always been my indulgence and when the SHTF (now happening!) indulgences will be a pleasant memory.

I have.
It’s gross. Depending on how old, it turns to water, practically

One thing I just noticed checking inventory expiration dates in my preps. Kroger’s canned fruit with the peel off lids. Some with a year left to them have swollen on the tops and bottoms. Distinctly noticeable from others. The tin seems very thin. We just threw out about 8 cans that we would be afraid to eat. They were bought only a few months ago.

The name brand cans without the peel off lids look fine. No more off brand veggies and fruit.

We need to be very careful with those peel off aluminum lids. The cat food Sheba Perfect Portions has those and I have run into some bad ones. They can get little slits. in them and rot. I only buy them from Chewey because of their outstanding customer service. One case I opened this year had some leaked ones and was full of some horrible bug of some kind. I check each one carefully before I open it.

Ok. I haven't had fizzy drinks since the 70's, so no personal experience.

Yeah they taste gross.

What I have on hand now expires in December. I may or may not buy it again. Maybe if I can find it and the date is out a little further...

May not be worth the effort, but maybe store the soda's syrup (that comes in the box like they use for fountain drinks at convenient stores and restaurants). With a device like a "soda stream" (I'm sure there are others) you can make your own carbonated water fresh to add to the syrup.

Not sure how long the syrup lasts, but I would assume it is a long time.

Got the rest of my online Walmart order.

Most was available for pickup, but some were only available from what I call the mother ship: Main corporate site.

What amazes me the rest of the order came by FedEx in 4 separate boxes. Some items were as low as $5.00 bucks. I wonder how they cover the shipping charge?

For the bestest news, my order of chocolate arrived safely. A years supply assuming I don't beagle it all down at once.

Went to town today (I never go!) Hubby wanted to take me to the gun range and stopped by Wallie World. Its like they have skipped over Thanksgiving and have got all the Christmas stuff up! I did not need anything really but was looking for some house shoes and wanted to check out the spices and get some "whip" yogurts. The house shoes were ridiculously expensive but hubby threw them in the cart anyway, and they are about the only place we can find the whips here lately. Spices? Lots of holes and very short section of the shelve to begin with compared to what it use to be like. Also looked in there at Wally world then Aldies and then Harps for some cayenne peppers to make a tincture with and cant find any anywhere. Other than those two items everything else looked pretty good from what I could tell.

Most about the supply chain shortage getting worse but a few have popped up about "planned events" happening. This is just one talking about the end of October from 10-20 to 10-31. Here's a link to one- short may 2 minutes.

Late October Warning

Synopsis is she's not trying to scare people but this information was given to her (psychic). 2 events NC and CA possibly CO. Special attention 10-24. Feels something explosive like explosion or fire. Cause some kind of isolation or people to go into isolation. The other is she saw something coming from the sky like falling maybe an airplane and these are things we can't stop. Events that have been "set into motion". Not small but serious. She sees houses around these events but locations can't be narrowed down. Military involved- shaky ground- crazy.

Again I don't normally believe in psychics (think woo) and take most social media with a grain of salt. I don't usually save these videos but when I run across more I'll let you know.

***This is off thread topic but answering Terrwyn's question. If I find more I will start a new thread
Yes please! I’d read it!
thank you!

I can’t remember if I’ve posted this already, or not (?) regarding prescription cat/dog foods from Royal Canin.
Their prices raised, and terribly so for many of the foods.
The worst one I’ve seen so far is their “Feline Urinary SO formula” dry food in the 17lb bag; it went up to 85$ A BAG, from 59$!

I haven’t checked all of their foods but the dry Canine Gastro Intestinal dry food has also increased a few dollars.
It’s across the board.

One of our clients was totally horrified as her cats all are on SO. I quietly recommended that she check Chewy because 85$ is outrageous! One of her cats absolutely cannot go back to normal food.

Yep, same price over there too, NO deal in price, whatsoever, so that was a huge Dot for me!
When even Chewy can’t get you a deal, things are bad.
If I had an animal needing special prescription food, I’d stock up immediately and have been telling clients to do so.

Vitacost does that too now. Walmart is the worst though. I wondered the same thing.

An old shooting buddy, years ago, had a beagle. One day at a remote shooting range the old beagle was sitting in his truck while we were shooting. Ole Sparky ate near a whole bag of salt-water taffy, wrappers and all.

Lol. That's a beagle for you.

It’s so weird how prices fluctuate around the county like this. Our prices are bad but not that kind of bad!
Different cost of living in different parts of the country, which is why it's important to give a general location.

I swear some of these ridiculous prices must be from Whole Foods in California. Either that, or people just stick blindly to brands, and never shop the sales.

I wish I had pictures of my local stores before Covid. They have gotten really good at rearranging to avoid empty spaces. I was in HEB today and they had moved some of the items from the non-food aisle (disposable baking pans, food storage containers, pots, utensils, etc) to other aisles. It only stood out bc it didn’t go with anything on that row. I started looking and trying to remember how wide the flour, sugar, cake mix sections used to be because they are much more narrow.

When are they rearranging? It must take time to skooch everything over and move/remove the labels. I’ve never seen areas getting moved around.

And this is why, where by hub works had to add a 20% increase, across the board (besides the meat prices!!) to their menu.

High end, high roller/ high dollar steak house. Privately owned.
Not to lose regular customers or to put extra money in the owners pocket.
So far, their business is the same but last week was kind of scary because of local fall break for school systems.

Their clientele level can afford to run down to spend the week on some beach every time the kids are out of school.

Dennis, those are the crazy price increases I'm seeing here in S. CA desert. I think Restaurant owners are starting to get scared. I don't think they will be able to keep raising prices much longer without losing their customers. When a couple of to go Wet Burritos cost 30 bucks then it's time to rethink eating out. You see a lot of working guys eating lunch around here and with gas approaching 5 bucks along with lunch everyday it's not going to be happening much longer.
As a side note my neighbor didn't receive her food stamps when expected so she called me out of food. Anyone else on here not receive them?

WTH.
My version of wet (I call 'em smothered) burritos:
A can of refried beans, a jar of salsa and a pack of grocery store tortillas. $5.00 instead of $30.00.

I don’t know which is more bothersome in your post!
The prices....OR the fact someone called you because they have NO FOOD?!!
Wow.

For. spices I go to a health food store. They have bulk herbs . You dip out of a big jar into a small plastic bag and pay by weight. MUCH cheaper than buying little jars at the grocery store.
If you're lucky enough to have a Winco store near you, they have a bulk section too. Much better to pay a few pennies for an unusual spice for a recipe than $5 for a tiny jar.

as we get near the holidays, peoples buying patterns change. Endcaps and displays are set up to remind shoppers they will need cranberry sauce or whatever, as well as make it convenient for shoppers to find stuff and for employees to let shoppers know where stuff is. Let's say I pick up a roasting pan, and think: oh yeah, couldn't find the turkey baster last year- better get one now. Just good marketing.

It is on hwy 1 at Big Sur. Always extremely expensive there.
Supply and demand. We have an AM/PM Arco right off the local freeway that's always about a dollar more than other places, because they have no competition and people don't know how far to the next station. (Maybe 2 miles). Surprisingly, there are always cars in front of the pumps.
