No flavored Philadelphia cream cheese in the dairy case at Safeway, and no Canadian bacon or microwavable regular bacon on the shelves. Bulk green beans looked terrible with brown staining so I bought a pricey pre-cleaned bag. No cook-in-bag Spanish rice mix on the shelves either. More and more it's hit or miss!

I see a lot of people on here that are so into convenient food it is crazy. I can't justify buying like that on a regular basis. Once in a while for a meal, yep....not everything. I think some of you are in for a rude awakening not only because of the expense, but availability. You may want to dust off some cookbooks.

I grew up on bologna (6 kids at our house lol!) along with uncountable hot dogs.
I think I’d like a bologna if it was a good quality behind the meat counter, but I got so gun shy reading about all of the evils of processed meats that I’ve not bought a single pack of bologna in all my adult years.
I love a good kosher hot dog though! Yuuuum!!
A good hot dog is a rare treat, but I actually had one the other day from the hot counter in Kroger’s store and it was delicious!! I about drooled eating that thing :)

I cook every single day.
Monday’s are meal prep days for the rest of the week. Saran Wrap is my best friend lol.
I get bored to death by Friday but hubby never ever complains. He likes it this way, fortunately.

We eat like this out of choice, calorie watching, restriction of fats/chemicals and also for financial reasons.

But when we DO go out to eat that’s considered a celebratory event. We choose somewhere high end, order many things, order a high end wine, never skimp on the entire event. That’s why we only go out once every couple of months.

Same with my favorite, PIZZA!! We scope out new or special places in advance and plan pizza night accordingly, never Willy Nilly. Once monthly, maybe?
(But I’ll sneak in a quick pizza delivery from Papa Johns when he goes to work sometimes :angl: They have awesome specials )

Agree! Everyone addicted to soda/pop might want to start weaning yourselves off of the stuff.

Oh please. I love the righteous bros but you ain't it. No one cooks more beautiful meals than annieosage! And I have certainly put in the hours of cooking from scratch. Still do several times a week. But truth as long as I can still afford it I will eat delivery cheeseburgers and French dips and please don't faint. BOLOGNA and CHEESE.

Obviously you didn't read the post above the one you choose to bash about me buying bologna. And Annie cooks....from scratch. I have rarely seen her do anything which she doesn't. I will file you under my 'whatever' list.

I love when oldest DD comes to visit because we always pick somewhere special to eat. Usually it's Mexican food and margaritas but sometimes it could be a little bistro or steakhouse. She usually treats me LOL

That's why I will only buy beef bologna or hot dogs. And my really guilty pleasure is a big bite spicy dog from 7-11. I love them but my stomach doesn't so I only get one every few months.

My sister just told me that she was listening to Melodie Cedarstrom this morning and Butch Paugh was on the program. He said that something big, bad, whatever, I can't remember what he said, was going to happen very, very soon.

Wonder if this ties in with what those two young men said when they were loading groceries into the vehicle at the Walmart pickup door, as posted in #3408 of this thread?

I don't know but several posts on Tik Tok are saying the same thing. Normally I take these things with a grain of salt. But this time it's literally everywhere.

What are they saying Annie? I don't do tiktok or twitter or anything.

Most about the supply chain shortage getting worse but a few have popped up about "planned events" happening. This is just one talking about the end of October from 10-20 to 10-31. Here's a link to one- short may 2 minutes.

Late October Warning

Synopsis is she's not trying to scare people but this information was given to her (psychic). 2 events NC and CA possibly CO. Special attention 10-24. Feels something explosive like explosion or fire. Cause some kind of isolation or people to go into isolation. The other is she saw something coming from the sky like falling maybe an airplane and these are things we can't stop. Events that have been "set into motion". Not small but serious. She sees houses around these events but locations can't be narrowed down. Military involved- shaky ground- crazy.

Again I don't normally believe in psychics (think woo) and take most social media with a grain of salt. I don't usually save these videos but when I run across more I'll let you know.

***This is off thread topic but answering Terrwyn's question. If I find more I will start a new thread

This one from Turkey Hill, that Kroger subsidiary; it was delicious!

I was at the local small grocery store earlier today and for the first time the meat supply was sketchy. I bought butterfly pork chops (on sale for Pork Month), chicken legs and thighs and a pound of sausage. Both the pork chops and chicken sections were nearly empty and there was no sausage in the meat section. Found sausage in the freezer. The packages of chops were $2.23 and $2.61 ($1.99 #) with 2 chops in each package. I'll get 8 meals out of the chops as I only eat half of the butterfly for one meal. If you go by the "deck of cards" sizing for a serving of meal the half would be just slightly over that size. There were 4 small leg/thigh sections in the package and I will get 4 or more meals from those. Sausage will also end up being served for multiple breakfasts. Chicken $1.77 (88¢ #) and sausage $3.46 ($3.49 #).

Also noticed more empty shelves and prices continue to rise. A regular sized can of pears was $2.67 which I did not buy. I will enjoy my less than a dollar pears from my pantry.

I will continue to enjoy my Pepsi i.e. one can per day until its no longer available or I am unwilling to pay the price. If missing my only caffeine fix of the day gives me a headache, I'll survive or fix myself a cup of tea. I think we should enjoy the things we like as long as we can because it appears the day will soon come when we'll no longer have the opportunity to do so.

I haven’t bought lunch meat in ages, but my hubby had a craving for turkey and Swiss sandwiches. $10.99 a lb. even for the cheap brand! The high quality Dietz & Watson was $14.99 a lb. I nearly fell over. They had prepackaged cold cuts in the deli section that you could just grab and take that were priced around $7, but they literally had about 7 slices of meat. It just wasn’t worth it.

Those cold cut prices have been pretty standard here and for a very long time now, this is especially true with HyVee deli meat prices.

I have noticed a few articles in the msm lately accusing people of hoarding. Be extra careful who you tell what you have. On another note we may have to hide what we have. I wonder if it came to food distribution you would have to prove that you had a need….and they would also want you to be Vaxxed of course.

No one would want what we have, we're bordering on a hoarder situation at the moment. Now that he's feeling better from his knee replacement surgery we're gettin 'er done and am throwing tons of crap away. Oddly enough the biggest culprit was empty cardboard boxes. I swear they breed like mice, wake up the next morning and there are more empty boxes to deal with, I'm truly starting to hate cardboard.

I'm guessing your kittens haven't gotten to the stage where they want to keep every box in the house. We've only got 4 play boxes in the kitchen right now. I have had 8. The old cat screams like somebody's killing him and jumps from box to box if I try and dispose of any of them. I do try and trade them out whenever we get a Chewy order...

Mine are not that married to boxes, thank heavens. They do love their black plastic hardware store type tub, it has a slanted front. When they first came home they both fit in that little tub, now I need to upgrade to one of the larger green tubs. These are washable so if they make the kittens happy then I'll give each one their own tub.

I'm done with cardboard, outside of a few quality artist grade pieces I kept for making handmade books. I'll use that cardboard as the base for the covers. That cardboard has been cut down to size and now lives in it's own dedicated book making tub. Which I really need to get busy doing with xmas coming up.

BREAKING: Biden says gas prices won’t go down until 2022 in tangent-filled town hall

Biden blamed Trump, he blamed OPEC, he blamed Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, he blamed Republicans for not passing anything, though they are the minority in both chambers of Congress. What Biden didn't do was take on any responsibility himself for his administration's failures.

Biden was asked if "Do you think there's, um, do you see, do you have a timeline for gas prices when you think they may start coming down?"

"There's a lot of Middle Eastern folks who want to talk to me.

biden-bucks.GIF

I'm not so sure I gonna talk to them.

But the point is, it's about gas production. My guess is," Biden said, "you'll start to see gas prices come down as we get by and going into the winter. I mean, excuse me, in the next year in 2022. I don't see anything that's going to happen in the meantime that is going to significantly reduce gas prices."

I think somebody is having a laugh at our expense.

No laugh. Just a clearance of 50% off for meat, with that day's, or the next day's, expiration date. Pasta reduced for no reason that I know of. Rice always at that price. This is Price Rite in the northeast. I shop at the store with the poorest population in their area. Largely hispanic people, who may not consume that much pasta, or beef. There is plenty of pork and chicken in the store, and pallets upon pallets of rice. The funny thing is, the hispanic pays more per pound for a 50 lb bag of rice, for the brands that they trust, than an off brand of a 10 lb bag.
