VIDEO Netflix’s “Leave the World Behind”

L.A.B.

Goodness before greatness.
The wife and I just finished watching it. It wasn't too bad. However, I will say that I would beat the shit out of my daughter if she did what that little shit did.

My wife missed the ‘Jericho moment’ to the end as she was on the patio doing chicken on the grill.

Classic VHS-CD @ The End. BIG MESSAGE THERE.

Prior to that, the low brow social-psycho-thriller conditioning wasn’t doing it for her.

The way Dan Bongino carried on about it this morning on his show, I expected more from the movie and Bongino as well.

I think Canadian Prepper could have wrote-and-stared in a more convincing role.

My favorite part was: The scene where…

Sadly, that about all I have to say about that in 06-seconds or less.

Warning: Plot secrets follow:

If you are retarded/ autistic?, like I am you will find this movie very frustrating. Mostly weird squawking dialog... Mind numbing indeed.

Blah blah blah omg omg omg....

what the hell was that noise?? How do I prep for that??

Love the flamingos! edited to ad: and loved the deer, very cute and trying to use mental telepathy.

Love the perfectly maintained forest... no shrubs or low cover.... how the heck do you get a tick bite with out brush.

Love their local power and water supply... almost bullet proof, took what 3 nucular bombs to final kill the services.. heh

On TB every waking moment
I saw it. Read some nonsense about the meaning of the weird deer as "renewal." Read the point was to show we need to form new trusting relationships with each other to survive while the "new relationships" are forged against a background of civil war or was it China and Iran. Read it showcased how different types of people would accept such a scenario - such as the kid withdrawing into fantasy.

I was not impressed with the movie. It was confusing. Julia Roberts has gone downhill.

Watched it this evening....it could have been shorter. Over all it was mediocre, knowing the obungholes were producers of the film I went in with low expectations.

The family in the movie were annoying and most likely what a majority of urban and suburbanite cul de sac dwellers would be like in the event of a major emergency.

I kept waiting for G.H. to go full Rob Hawkins...you'd think since he could "see" the future he'd have been a little more "prep" minded with the remodel of his home.

Spoilers:

The self driving car thing was dumb, but I realize they needed a "cyber" means of closing down the bridge/freeway.

East coast power outage including NYC yet their house keeps power...could have at least thrown a solar bank in the yard as an explanation.

The drone dropping leaflets on a deserted road seemed like a waste (lazy writing)

A tad jealous of the neighbors bunker LOL

If you have netflix its not a terrible 2:20 viewing (again could have been shorter)..as you watch just run small "what if" scenarios in your head. Cyber will be involved in the next big event.

Discussion right now tonight on Clyde Lewis Ground Zero radio on the symbolism and just what Obamas were implying.

As the the Drill Instructor in Stripes says : 'lighten up Francis'

Most of u need to take a chill pill LOL I read both the book and saw the movie tonight - the book was WAY slower and murkier than the movie - the Obamas put a lot of 'extra' things in that were not in the book - pretty much all the big action stuff - the bombs the airplane crashes the drone etc. And The Tesla thing that was funnier than hell and kind of ingenious IMO

The ENTIRE plot was NOT to demonize preppers or some other dumbazz shit - it was to illustrate to clueless Leftists how useless they would be in any situation similar to this - the white guy gives a big speech about how completely useless he is as a father and a human being when he begs the prepper for help. If anything it was a complete humiliation and slap in the face to your typical Obama voter - which also was funny as hell. Leftists turning on other Leftists was a subtheme - thats what all the racial BS was about for those who missed that.

For those of u who didnt understand all the animal stuff - it was just an illustration that either the magnetic field was whacked or that there was some supernatural things going on to completely change the behavior of animals in the natural world. The flamingos were off course from Florida thats why that was in there.

Also the entire point of the movie could be summed up in the story/joke the little girl told about the guy in the flood and God chastising the deceased explaining how he had made every effort possible to save the guy and he was just too stupid to listen and act. Again - this was a direct compliment to everything prepper related which actually impressed me seeing as the Obamas were running the show.

The movie was much faster and clearer than the book so dont read the book if u saw the movie.
And yes - some of the decisions and behaviors were clearly very stupid - Bacon wasnt much of a prepper if he was loading up his truck the day of the event - and even dumber if he gave the info to take the bunker.

But you could argue the same thing about every zombie movie ever made - first thing u do in a world full of zombies is find the biggest heavy duty snowplow truck you can find and u could take out 10,000 zombies an hour just plowing the streets. That kind of forward thinking never makes it to movies or The Walking Dead idiocy because the whole series would have been over in a few weeks if I was there with my team of elite snowplow and Deployable Universal Combat Earthmover drivers scouring the roads and interstates.
Thats why I couldnt take the endless stupidity of that series. :bhd:

This movie mostly highlighted the complete stupidity and utter uselessness of your typical Leftist city-dweller. That's all.

And just like the Zombie thing - no prepper worth his salt would have been within a thousand miles of NYC - so the entire movie had absolutely nothing to do with us prepper folks. If preppers were ranked on a scale of 1 to 100, Bacon would have been a clear score of 1 so he doesnt count in my book - he's almost as clueless and dumb as the Leftists.

I recommend watching Dan Bongino's show from yesterday episode 2148 on Rumble. He provides an insiders perspective. The RT is 1 hr. but worth the time if you have it.

Summary: Don't take the movie as just a movie. 2024 could be a very interesting year. Last chance for the commies to take it down.

I don't see Rumble on the approved list, so I didn't embed the vid

Just watched this on Friday. Arguably the dumbest piece of film I have ever wasted my time on. No offense to the original poster.
I said on a FB page that I watched the entire d**n thing just hoping it would get better. Karen alert. I wanted to choke Julia Roberts character for how annoying she was lol.
That was worse than any "B" movie I've ever seen. Complete fluff! Was the book that bad?

The book was much worse in the sense that it was written like everything happened in super slow motion and there was absolutely no explanation for anything - things just stopped working and thats ALL that they knew - which I think was actually the author's point. That point being - in a REAL emergency no one drops leaflets or handily drops bombs right next to your house to help u figure out a civil war was going on.

In the book the author made it so no one knew anything about what was going on. Furthermore in the movie the Obamas made it seem like it was just a civil war the Lefties would have to just wait out for the ending and gave them a nice hugely stocked bunker to live off.
In the book, yes they got the bunker, but the vague ending there made it seem like everyone was about to die soon anyways - from radiation poisoning because there were out and about in the fallout which they could not see nor feel and were exposed to it from the very beginning (altho it was never explicitly laid out in any way). Thats what the teeth falling out was all about. And at the very end of the book (if I remember right) everyone was starting to get sick from that - so I dont think any of them were going to be alive much longer. And then it ended. Which was far more vague than the movie.

Obviously they didnt want the movie to have that kind of dark ending - they wanted the clueless Leftists to believe they were special and were going to survive if they just stuck together.

The book was harder to plow thru - but more realistic I think. All the electronic stuff stopped working. No one knew shit. Then they got very sick. Then they were about to die (in a few weeks or so). The end.

in a true SHTF grid down scenario... this sequence of events is not that far from reality, especially for urban areas where everything is shipped in for basic day to day survival.

We just watched it. The white couple were driving me crazy until I realized just how many people were going to be just like them when/if things crash. Wanting normal and doing whatever they can to not think normal is ever going to happen again. Something to watch out for because they will do whatever they have to in order to find that normalcy.

I wonder how many will watch this and say nah this would never happen and go right back to their normal lives? People are in a deep hypnotic state right now. This will just serve to glaze them over further. Too unrealistic they will say, completely missing the point.

Nefarious plans are afoot. We have seen the way they announce their intentions. Is this a forewarning? Time will tell.

Interesting to put the story of the man who was mad at God for not saving him in there. I’ll be thinking on that one as to why.

The idea of everyone turning against each other is a dream of theirs. Interesting it was brought up as one of the steps in the plan. They have made an art form of turning us one against another these past 70 years beginning in the 60’s. A house divided cannot stand and they know it and use it against us. The internet has sped up that process exponentially as most can be anonymous.

It was not the most well done movie but that isn’t the point. What is their motive? That’s all that matters.

The Sun is the throes of a micro nova for starters. Did you see the video of the huge comet that plunged into the Sun earlier this week? It was impressive.

In the last scene I got to wondering if it had all
been a parody/comedy…… shrill Julia Roberts was Erin brockovic on steroids, an awful storyline, and unanswered questions which really weren’t that important.

Waste of time…. My sis in Australia was watching it at the same time & put a sick emoji on her text to me.

How does your sister in Australia feel about the fees that were recently placed on cash purchases???

Ok been doing a LOT of reading on this post, and it has me thinking of back when I caught the crud. I was watching a movie in Netflix, and my dvd player, would STOP and lock up on scene's, than we would have to shut it down, reset it, find the part where it froze up.
Well on this particular day, it froze up on a message, that was embedded in the movie
Actually one FRAME. Telling us to get our COVID vaccine.
A Subliminal message.
I tried to grab a picture of the damn thing, and the dvd player started working on its own, the only other witness to this was my wife, and she caught just a glimpse of it, but not enough to see what was there.
Since that time, the only shows we watch are from our own movie collection. No more Netflix for us, and the TV is not hooked to any cable or Internet any more.

Now, with that little story out of the way, and I'm reading about all the messages thrown about thru the movie, I have to wonder just what other messages were "subliminally" planted within that show?
Gotta wonder just why there would be a subliminal message in an old western movie, unless your targeting a specific group of folks.
Any of you folks, starting to "change" some of your thoughts?
Example: ever be 100% against something, then you start suddenly wondering if you should change your thoughts, and actions against what ever you were against?

I agree that narcissist elites have to brag what they are doing to the general population, and I got a hunch that besides the sticker dates, and change in animal behavior, and how EMP is going to effectively kill electric cars, and false information on water in outlying areas, among other things. (Honestly that could be one, to draw city dwellers to smaller communities for supplies, aka, "the golden horde)
Maybe some are watching more CNN and thinking they should get the new VaXXX for some newly undiscovered virus?

As much as I'm curious as to this movie, I'm going to refrain from watching it, but I will thank all of you that have.

But seriously IF you are having a "change of heart" about a partial subject, I'd seriously reconsider standing fast, and holding onto your original thoughts and plans.
Something sure seems very "off" and odd, especially with what I'm hearing about the "ending"

I know there's a lot of messaging in the movie, and hidden easter eggs, etc. But last night I looked at the movie as if it were a dream 0bama had. I don't know if this was deliberate in the notes he gave or if it was his own subconscious breaking through, or if this is just more a reflection of me than him ;) So, if this were a dream and it was posted here with suggestions for interpretation I would say this:

Mahershala Ali's character G.H. represents 0bama, his daughter, Malia. Ethan Hawke's character Clay represents Bill Clinton (hounddog, passive, friendly), Julia Roberts' character Amanda is Hillary. Shrill, bossy and the one in charge. Amanda acted like the house was hers even though it was GH's, just like she thought the presidency in 2008 should have gone to her, when it was really 0bama's. The house they are in represents the White House when 0bama was president, the "Clintons" are encroachers, not the rightful owners, but act like they are. Amanda's daughter finds the literal "white house" colonial through the woods and escapes there to find relics of the 1990's. junk food, and bunker with foods that today are no longer allowed to be sold under their old names because they are racist (Aunt Jemima, Uncle ben's rice, etc) and finally finds comfort going back in time watching an episode of Friends, a series that aired mostly when Clinton was president. (although the final episode aired when GW was in the WH).

Obviously that has nothing to do with the cyber attack warning, etc. Just a different way to view the movie...

I don't even know how to phrase this, but I think most will understand when I say that Julia Roberts does not know how to swear correctly. Every WTF out of her mouth just seemed to not fit.
As far as the rest, I like Ethan Hawke and Bacon as actors. I agree on everyone's plot-holes.
The racism angle annoyed me but might have been the most realistic considering a LOT if people probably agree with the attention seeking racist daughter. It seems to match Boston "minus-white" holiday party attitude...
I'm so tired of people looking at everything from a racist angle and then complaining about racism while being racist.

I got about a half-hour in last night. There be spoilers here.
OMG. Those people must all be on valium or something stronger. Talk about dull clods and ridiculous scenarios.

A damned supertanker beaches itself right in your lap, and you just sacrifice the chairs and brelly and go home like it happens every day. :lkick: Nobody on board - must be a ghost ship? Again :lkick:.

The phones are down, the web is down but nothing unusual comes to mind (or lack thereof). Haha...and then the Morgan Freeman-clone-owner of the house/Air B&B or whatever, shows up to beg to stay in his own weekend-rented house after having left a glass cabinet full of expensive booze, and a drawer containing $1000 cash and a handgun in the house with paying guests.

Anyway...so far, so stupid. Anybody who was triggered/spooked/"awakened" by this dreck is too dumb to live.

Tesla Recalls 2 Million Vehicles Over Autopilot Issue. Here's What You Need to Know

Tesla’s recall was Wednesday, Dec 13. If you look at the link, the picture of the Tesla cars are identical to the ones in the movie, lol!!!

“More than 2 million Tesla vehicles have been recalled over a safety issue related to its Autopilot software -- specifically, a feature called Autosteer that's part of the driver-assistance system.
Tesla announced a voluntary recall on Wednesday, providing details on which models are affected, what the problem is and how it will be fixed.

Over many years, cars have been gaining features that automate certain driver tasks, from cruise control to lane correction and automatic emergency braking. Futurists, including Tesla chief Elon Musk, have long envisioned cars that are fully self-driving. But despite notable proofs of concept -- in early pilot projects and more-recent limited-use cases -- the challenge is a complex one with many hard issues still to be resolved. Tesla's Autopilot feature falls short of being fully autonomous.

Here's what you need to know about Tesla's recall.”

My personal take on it is that "they" are telling us what is coming and this maybe "The Last One", as in warning/telling us what is coming.

I think there is a lot of little subtle nuggets of info that need to be cleaned and researched about topics mentioned in the movie.

I was looking at backgrounds, pictures, etc. It would be interesting to get a English translation of what the Hispanic woman by the road was saying. Maybe nothing but it may have something in it.
She kept saying, “Help me!” And that she hadn’t seen anyone else on the road and couldn’t get home, possibly due to disorientation. She was lost and didn’t know where her house was. Then she told him about an “airplane” dropping little red pieces of paper.

I got through the rest of it. Still fail to see why anybody would be motivated, spooked or even entertained. So slow moving (both story and characters) it was painful, and the story line was ridiculous. WTH was it with the deer. Trying to make a semi-horror film or "message" film out of it with last minute script changes because it was already so off the wall stupid, I guess.

I read the book but haven't seen the movie and probably won't until I am less busy after the holidays. It sounds like the movie has significant changes & additions than what the book contained. Hollywood at work.

It seems WWIII is coming and my guess is that cyberwar will be the centerpiece of it. The US can be brought to its knees overnight if you shut down our extremely automated & centralized infrastructure. Our Navy might be able to exact revenge but that won't change the impact of shutting down our infrastructure domestically. Now whether the movie depicts a reasonably accurate depiction of how that would play out is something else entirely. Assuming the movie screwed up that aspect doesn't take away the underlying premise of cyberwar come WWIII.

I started reading the book and didn't get very far. It was a good example of how liberals think and I didn't like being exposed to that. Then it looked like it was going to be one more liberal sermon/lecture on race and I don't feel I deserve that, so I quit reading. You have to limit what you expose yourself to. Not going to bother with the movie.

DH actually wanted to watch it, because he thought the trailer for the upcoming CIVIL WAR movie looked good, and he read on some Reddit subforum a post where someone suggested that this movie seemed to him to be a prequel to CIVIL WAR.

He had more patience with the movie than I did. It was sooooooo slow in the beginning (and I never liked the female lead actress anyway), that I was ready to pack it in, but I hung in there. Once things finally started happening, then the movie held my interest long enough to see it through.

I have to say that I didn't care for any of the kids (the boy was the best... if you ignore his pics etc. of GH's daughter).

GH's daughter was obnoxious and obviously racist (I was surprised to see THAT in the movie).

The 13-yo kid was self-centered with her Friends' obsession (at the end of the movie, with the dire messages sent out over the airwaves, I couldn't help think that her sitting down to watch the final episode would end up dooming everyone else). Not to mention being an absolute brat (breaking the door window to break into the neighbor's place, just in search of junk food and a working TV or CD player?)

I absolutely couldn't stand the lead character (Amanda?).

Her husband was, well... somewhat pitiful.

Really, the only character I liked was GH (George).

I thought the bit with the Teslas was ingenious.

I had to wonder why the prepper would tell THEM about the neighbor's bunker. On the one hand, you'd think he would be raiding it for himself. On the other hand, maybe he felt sorry for them, and that was the best that he could do by way of helping them out. (Never mind that the neighbor, if he actually showed up, would be screwed.)

The sonic stuff sounded like nonsense but who knows. I couldn't figure out if the son's teeth falling out was supposedly from that (but why not everyone else?) or from radiation (but why not everyone else?) or what. DH pointed out that if the sonic weaponry stuff was real, anyone at ground zero (the big cities?) would be deaf from shattered eardrums.

The bombs seen at the end.... DH suggested that they weren't nukes per se, but dirty bombs. Dirty bombs are a lot easier (for lower tech countries) to make/acquire than nukes, and serve the purpose of terror as well as contamination and killing off part of the population.

I doubt that we'll watch it again (I can't stand most of the characters), but we are looking forward to CIVIL WAR, and finding out if it really is a follow-on to this movie. (Not to mention that we are dying of curiosity as to why/how CA and TX would be in alliance over *anything*.)
