so gunfire three different times and then a 20 loudspeaker warning and then a countdown and BOOM

Bad guys don't give a warning ! Who ever place the bomb wanted to make sure no lives were taken. What was the true target. I think it was a planned hit on the commies/DS just to send a message

Nightwolf whose first trip to Northern Ireland in 1985 included the windows of his hotel (on the first night there) blowing up said: "that sounds just like the IRA bombings."

The warning for civilians, the shot guns to draw in authorities and a vehicle full of explosives that is designed to "send a message" more than it is intended to be a mass killing.

As he pointed out, they didn't care if a few people died in the process but it wasn't the motive like it obviously was in Oklahoma City or 9/11.

There's a pic upthread that is from accross the river and shows the buildings next to the demolished ones with faces intact, and only broken windows.
The blast debris field was reported to be two blocks either direction.
The blast was reportedly felt at least up to 19 miles away in Mount Juliet.*
The blast was reportedly heard at least 2 miles away.*
I haven't been able to get a good look at the pics.

Was there much damage to the brick exteriors on any buildings?

The IRA almost always did, they even gave one for Omagh (the one I was nearly in and that killed so many people at the street fair) but a mistake was made and somehow people were told to evacuate in the direction of the bomb not away from it.

This one "mistake" ultimately led to the Peace Accords and even the Nationalists (for nearly a generation) because everyone was so revolted by the death and carnage.

The presence or absence of structural damage isn't in a consensus of the streamers I've seen.

Takes some concussion to blow out the windows on the OTHER SIDE of affected buildings, though.

Listening to the blast on the post from 2 miles away suggests a VERY high level of brisance in the detonated material. It was a FAST explosion, not a slower rumbling one.

Not sure that I am buying a Fuel Air Explosion on this one. An FAE would have collapsed more than the one reported building. Even if they WERE Quake-resistant, as a lot of Nashville is now.

Yep. Something here just feels and smells like Oklahoma City. Maybe it's the building damage to some degree..
That’s what my son said too. He put his nose up to the tv and looked at the debris spray and the direction it went and then zeroed in on the right side of the street where he saw the white powder spray. “ That’s where it went off. Oklahoma City Mom they used ammonium Nitrate.” He was in Fallujah in 2005.

UPDATE: The cops responded to a shootout. Evac'ed the people in the apts to go out the back.

Then suspected the RV.
Then at some point it blew up.

The cops that were close by the explosion went deaf for a time and one was knocked off their feet.

They have a few people in custody for questioning, or possible witnesses.

Thanks for the link to the live feed. A few minutes ago they were showing pics of the AT&T building. Lots of shrapnel damage to the AT&T building. Lots of other damage to surrounding buildings.

Keep in mind most propane tanks are on the out side of an large RV, not inside. So unless there was a inside leak and ignition a leak would vent into the air. Most RV’s have a propane leak detector that would go off if a propane leak was detected alerting to the problem.

Most cities wouldn’t allow RV’s parked on a residential street for any long length of time without being towed. It would be nice to know what type of RV. If the small class B type. They generally have small propane tanks, surely not big enough to cause this.

We should have enough known variables at this point to start to zero in on the :what" and "how much of it" of the explosives. No real mysteries as to who makes the "who" short list, either imo.

That's good enough for me!

is it just me or does at&t seem to pop up recurring?

not all the time, but i see that name in connection with "situations" a fair amount.

does anyone else see that?

One picture I saw earlier showed a clean silver dollar sized hole in a window at least two blocks away from the explosion. The window had a direct line of sight to ground zero.

Makes me wonder if the device included ball bearings or another form of shrapnel?
I saw a glimpse and the side of the building with that window was facing away from the blast..I think?

UHMmmm...

Class A RV's have the tanks inside, under the floorboards usually at the front of the RV, accessible from the front curbside corner.
Having refilled more than 2 or 3 of them back when I was full-timing as a camp-host.

Well, Trump did tell Iran a day or so ago to watch out for their health if even one American got killed over in the Baghdad embassy. I dunno what's going on:

I don't get the countdown thing. WTH?

- Did the police receive a phone threat that specified an exact time the device would be detonated?

- Did a robot attempt to approach or open the vehicle?

The police were responding to "shots fired" 911 calls when they focused on the RV.

is it just me or does at&t seem to pop up recurring?

The RV was parked in front of the AT&T building according to reports.

As soon as a second bomb is set off in another city, especially today, one can count on a ”disprportionate response” by POTUS as soon as badguys can be identified, esp if overseas

ME types would be really stupid to initiate let alone bear responsibility for an attack before President Trump leaves office.

But who ever said the Wankerstans were smart?
