BRKG Large explosion in downtown Nashville

They are saying, "just an RV, nothing to worry about."

This suggests a propane bottle blew. Well, they don't blow up on their own. You can shoot a propane bottle and will just vent gas unless there is an ignition source. The other suggestion is that the vehicle filled with propane and then ignited. That would cause an explosion, but in my opinion nothing like they are saying happened.

IED

I’ll Second the fact that it would take a LOT of rigging and a LOT of propane to make a much smaller explosion.

Next pat theory to feed the masses, please ?

check out close vid..and they said "was intentional" at the end of loop..

**OH..it's live..sorry

The concussion blew out windows on opposite side of the buildings..

Pretty telling of the density/capacity of material that detonated.

This feed is excellent for close up damages..

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A large explosion was reported in downtown Nashville early Friday morning.
The blast was felt across much of the area around 6:30 a.m. local time. The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said the explosion has been linked to a vehicle in downtown Nashville, near the city's center.
During a press conference, MNPD said they believe the explosion was an "intentional act." Officers were investigating the report of a suspicious vehicle when the explosion occurred.
Three people have been taken to the hospital, but officials say none of the injuries have been reported as critical.

Nashville firefighters have asked everyone in the area to move at least two blocks away due to concerns about any possible other explosions.
BREAKING: Nashville fire crews being told to back up ANOTHER two blocks from site of explosion in downtown area. Concerns: possible vehicle bombs left in area, potential radiation. All of this is PRECAUTIONARY at this point.

WeGo Transit, the city's public transit system, said its operations have not been impacted by the explosion. WeGo will be helping clear the area by using buses to get people in the area out of the cold weather.
Heavy smoke and damage were seen in the Second Avenue area.

That could be the target for an informed terrorist?

Critical infrastructure. Cut a cable or fiber, hours to repair. Destroy a switch, who knows how long things would be disrupted.

Not an effective delivery method to really damage it tho.
I would guess there would be some damage to the cooling systems there was a lot of water or coolant blowing out of the building.

I go away for an hour to read the short-story I pre-ordered on Kindle and OMG; such a pretty city (even years ago when I visited) and like so many medium-sized places in the US, probably a rather "easy" target.

This is horrific, I hope they don't have a "second wave" of bombs waiting...

In that setting, I'd expect the cooling towers to be on the roof, with chillers in the basement.

Trump just threatened the Iranians a few days ago about the mortar attack and said if even one American was killed they would pay a price? Sleeper cell with plausible deniability perhaps.
I see it as possibly related to the larger fight going on now in ME, too- but there would be victims and damage, I think, if they "went there"

an RV parked in downtown Nashville overnight on Christmas Eve with temperature at 19 degrees
I can here that conversation "I told you Honey, we should have kept going to Mobile Al, it was a balmy 30 degrees last night"
and he said "ok dammit, you want it warm, I'll give you some heat"
that was at 6:25 AM.

If police were in the area, checking the vehicle, then it could have been a case of 'use it' or 'lose it', which means someone was probably watching the scene and 'made the phone call'. That sure gets the arrest of Demoncrats out of the news cycle though.

I

I guess if we had our Maff Brains engaged, we could run the #s and see if there's any way possible an RV tank could put concrete and steel debris two blocks either direction of point of explosion... :: shrug :: I'm going to guess "NO" is the answer, though.

Random gun fight or meth lab are still possibly in play perhaps...though again, do you get a debris field that large with either of those??

yah, so lets just focus on the explosion and act like it is no big deal and it happens all the time, and lets try to get people to forget the gunfire before the explosion, right?
