I know stock they weren't anything that would match many present day four wheel street legal transportation.
But who's to say that is stock? As Millright says:

And I've been in one that was awake...
So, personally I wouldn't chance one with Police livery.
If it pulled up behind you with lights on and you were expected to pull over would you say: Gee it's just a mid 70's stock 'vette with only 200 horse so I can outrun it. Or has it been given a bit of extra life? Am I feeling lucky?

You can outrun the Chevrolet, but it is a lot harder to outrun the two way.
