I keep a 56K modem that works with my win7 laptop and have 10 hours a month free Netzero dial up.
In the late 90’s, we moved to the house in Wisconsin. At the time, cablemodem hs service was expensive, so I was on dialup. I had a 56k modem, but NEVER got more than 28k out of it. Finally, after over a year, I called my phone company about it. After investigating, they informed me that when in the infrastructure was laid for that development, the phone service was “split” at the exchange level to conserve telco bandwidth. Thus, each house could only support ½ the bandwidth it should have.
Shortly after that I went to hs, got MagicJack and told the phone company to go pound sand. That was the single most satisfying call of my life.

A mid-70s vette that MAYBE pushed 200hp out the rear wheels when new? I might be able to outrun it in my truck.
