That can be important for some home cooks that don't have time or experience to make a "knock off" product. Case in point: Campbell's mushroom soup in green bean casseroles, a Thanksgiving / Christmas staple in some areas. Campbell's has an iconic flavor that off-brand soups don't match.
With some fiddling, I can adjust Fareway's mushroom soup, but if I'm going to the trouble to make that dish for company, I go get the Campbell's and pay the inflated price.

Ditto Lipton onion dip, another iconic treat.

To be far, I've mostly been serving steamed fresh or frozen veggies with a hint of good virgin olive oil. I'd rather save the calories for some pumpkin pie.
For the past few years, the green bean casserole has come in a "kit" form. There's a small shallow cardboard box, Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, canned green beans, and fried onion rings, all sealed in clear plastic. I think it's made for using an 8" X 8" casserole dish. In mid-November, the pallets of it in the WalMart aisles, move fast.

On Thanksgiving, I'm not counting calories. Once you make pumpkin cheesecake, you never go back to making pie.

This is a little side video and he covers something I'd bet a lot of people haven't thought about with their prepping.
I keep most of this in every vehicle (no hand pumps or Fix A Flat), haven't taken a tire off for a repair in years, just plug and go. Here's a couple of things:

Coat your plug with rubber cement before inserting, the difference between a coated plug and a dry plug when inserting is night and day, especially in winter.

The Slime you keep in the vehicle should be replaced about every four years or less, it does start to go bad after that.

I had never thought about the slime. Can you keep it in your trunk during freezing weather or does it have to be kept above freezing?

A personal note. From my recent order from Hy-Vee, two of the green peppers spoiled within two days! The others were starting to wilt.

Before their produce was pretty good so I was surprised.

Either the produce is old or mishandled or both.

Produce has sucked pretty bad the last several months. More often than not the onions already have soft spots when you buy them, cherry tomatoes are getting wrinkled and I’ve had bags of fingerling carrots get slimy.

Produce has been pretty thin in my current location; though there's been enough - just gaps at times. The quality has been spotty indeed. I flat wasted money on some beautiful looking fruits... that were essentially inedible.

On The Level
Don't know who this man is, first time I've seen his show. From PA, has some info claiming New England fuel supplies are 60% lower than previous winters. The rest of the East Coast NY to FL, is 40-50% lower than average. Fuel being shipped to Europe. Basically much heating fuel doom. According to NE power execs there's a lack of fuel.

He hasn't been making them every day without fail anymore as I 'm sure he is busy with life and trying to get ready himself. Will be looking forward to hearing your shout out for sure!

Boy, you could tell he was mad in this video! So many people are having the same experience at banks that we can’t ignore this.

Southern Prepper 1's amazing adventure at the bank.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have seen in a while by a "prepper".

Anyone that is a prepper already knows that banks won't give you massive cash in the best of scenarios. To be going into a hurricane and not already having this dealt with shows an incredible lack of situational awareness. You had a good week to already take care of this issue well ahead of time and get nominal sums out (that should have already been on hand anyway) The last thing you want to do in a crisis is think that any institution, and especially a highly governmentally controlled one would be the least bit prepared and/or cooperative to your urgency. In the worst case for the banks to be at all operational is amazing. But to think after a disaster you are going to waltz over and take a large sum of money out when in most cases as constantly testified here at tb2k you can't do that in the best of scenarios is incredibly naive at best and just down right ignorant. And then to have this "prepper" persona on the internet and put it out their with incredulousness again just is plain stupid not to mention you have now exposed yourself to a criminal element that is far worse than your inability to get cash. And lastly HOW IN THE WORLD IN PUBLIC DO YOU ADMIT TO STRUCTURING! Just absolutely one of the most ignorant things in the prepper community I have ever seen.

Not that I ever followed this guy for anything ever before but this is just a huge warning flag that he is not worthy of any advisement for preparedness. Most people here at tb2k are far wiser.

Just DUMB!

You are welcome to your opinion but it is an uninformed one concerning Mike. Either in this video or a previous one he shares that he has an account with BOA simply for his Army direct deposit as it is such a hassle with multiple hoops to jump through in order to change banks with his government deposits.

I'm not a slouch when it comes to prepping overall but this guy blows me out of the water by a country mile.

Not surprised. Once you put it in the bank it is their money. They don’t want to give it back
If one receives FRNs (units of account), it's ALWAYS their money from day one. You don't own it, the employer you get it from doesn't own it, even the local bank the employer gets it from doesn't own it. Only the Federal Reserve owns it. "Persons" only have "special drawing rights" for access to it. It's a rabbit hole most do not want to dive into.

The only problem is that, if they don't--too often, anyway--people stop seeing the point of a bank and the whole concept fades away. They HAVE to give back enough of it on demand to prevent people from pulling out entirely.

Well, when you saw the video, you really should have noticed that he was taking out EXTRA cash to help with his work building an addition. And with his son's work doing likewise elsewhere. The money was to be paid back quickly, within a few days.

That he ran into this kind of trouble wasn't a lack of preparedness. It was a hiccup in what should have been a reasonable process.

Though I admit he basically DID publicly admit to structuring. Structuring is a fully nonsense charge, but it does exist, and he's unwittingly handed someone a lovely weapon to use against him.
