The partial eclipse will begin at 12:20 p.m. in Dallas. Then, from 1:40 p.m. to 1:44 p.m. the eclipse will reach totality. After completing totality, the partial eclipse will remain in Dallas until 3 p.m.

Watch parties in the mini park next to it, telescopes, blankets, picnick baskets, people peddling wares.

Well, my wife wants to go outside and view it. We are at about 97% here in Memphis, though it is somewhat cloudy. So I guess I will be viewing it too, albiet indirectly.

We do not have eclipse glasses.

So we are going to each wear our 10 gallon hats with brims as wide as a sombrero, to keep direct rays off of our face. And we are going to sit in the lawn chairs in front of the chicken yard, and watch the chickens react to the eclipse, instead of watching the eclipse itself.

oh, what a man will do for his wife…

If you can believe NASA at all:

Level 12 or 13 is the highest level typically found in off-the-shelf products. These shade levels might be effective for a brief time, but they are not advised.
I just looked at it with my 12. Only a bite, but there it was. Got mine off a welders supply shelf. Unless you’re going for totality, seconds are enough.

2:27 here and clear as can be. We were supposed to be partly cloudy. Found one of dh’s welding helmets and turned all the settings to max (it’s fancy I guess and has controls) so Rufus and I are sitting on the back deck watching. Chickens are calm and he’s actually sleeping lol. World hasn’t ended yet lol!

Well, it was kind of a bust here. Sky is extremely overcast here and no sun was visible.
It got dark enough that the outside lights came on and the security camera flipped to night vision.

No sun here in WNY but we have many rainbow haired types walking around town. Some with face masks and they're all by themselves.

I did just notice birds have quieted down quite a bit and there is very little noise outside now.

Here in SC Wisconsin are supposed to be around 90% of totality and for the first time in weeks I've seen clear blue skies without a cloud most of the day. The intensity of the sunlight is going down kind of quickly right now, we had full unobstructed sunlight less than an hour ago. I don't know why but every time I've been in the path of an Eclipse things seem to appear different to my eyes than at the same light level as dusk/dawn and I don't know how exactly to explain it, maybe sort of like seeing waves in the air(?). I guess everyone perceives things they see in a different way.
