I am too old for a puppy. ;) After over 30 years. I should have realized that my husband would be no help at all. He was supposed to be watching her. I went to bed and went straight to sleep. She went in the bedroom corner and did #2. After 45 minutes of being walked, and refusing to go. My legs were about to fall off. If it wasn't so hot and humid, I would take her for an hour hike this morning and try and wear her out. I don't think that's possible.
Mentally, I think she's about 6 weeks old, instead of 6 months, has huge abandonment issues. We'll work on it. She's going to the vet tomorrow for shots, and I know she'll hate that.
I made a big vitamin order this morning. I don't know how I'm going to shop when I can't trust dh to watch her at all. She can go to the feed mill and hay barn with me, because I never get out of sight of the truck, but I can't leave her in the car at WM for 2 hours. I may have to see if I can go back to doing grocery pick up.

A crate could help with this if hubby won’t.

Picked up a big order at Walmart, odds and ends to fill out the pantry. I need laundry detergent and drain opener to feel that I'm good on the pantry.
We have moved everything home from the farm, my garage is packed. I've been curbsiding tons of stuff but am down to the stuff I would like to sell.

We have our dog on palliative care, he's done better than we thought but his tumor is growing again. He'll be our last for awhile. We're trying to decide what's best for him.

I'm getting chickens again as soon as we can. Several projects are on hold until husband sees the cardiologist.

Hubs moved my solar panel, much better. Just getting caught up with regular chores.
Boys and dad win their ball game last night and all 3 of them hit home runs!
One last game next Saturday. Only wish was if the peeps there were more friendly. We sure try. But they are a bit on the clannish side.
Weather turn is cooler so I'm hoping we might get to go fishing and a short hike.
Still much to do before winter, but getting there. Daughter still canning up a storm.

Beautiful day here! Went on a short kayak ride and had a socially-distanced picnic with friends, now I'm home for a few minutes to move the last load out of the washer and outside to dry. Heading back out in a few minutes for a short hike to see how the trees I planted near the bike path are doing.

My allergy meds are finally working, plus there's a bit of a breeze, so no ragweed pollen hanging in the air like yesterday. Blah! I was sneezing my head off. No, it's not COVID. It just took awhile for the meds to build up and start working. That said, I still checked my temperature this morning. Normal.

I have a long project list for this week, but I'm about ready to chop it in half and spend more time walking/biking on the trails. I'm finally building up some muscles in my legs, again. It's been a really long process.

Got some flower bed, raised bed, and garden weeding done today, along with picking beans, peppers and tomatoes. I am whupped - it wasn't that hot out, really; it just seemed like a lot of effort. I guess I need to get back to exercising in the pool; but between work and family stuff, I just haven't been able to find time to get up there lately.

The cousins were down today to set up another deer stand and to cut down some dead trees for firewood for the hunting cabin stove. I guess the picture I sent them of the 6 pt buck and three does eating apples from my tree made them decide they needed to start getting things ready

The grandsons start back to school tomorrow; we'll see how the first day goes - it will be younger grandson's first day in middle school so he will have to learn a whole new routine. I'm a little worried about him this year - he's one of the smallest in his class, plus he is going to have to have some extensive dental work done - his baby teeth are not moving out of the way for his new teeth to come in, so he will have to have 6 extractions and something was said about possibly having some other oral surgical work done. And the school wants them to have an activity, so soccer is also on the agenda. I'm hoping that it isn't too much for him. On the plus side, our school board voted to make masks optional... I'm waiting to see how long it lasts.

Since shortly after Covid became a 'thing', the lady who sends out 'hospital news' type emails at work has being doing a covid note - how many covid tests were positives, how many people were hospitalized, how many being treated by the 'Covid at Home' program, Covid deaths, blah blah blah. This past week, she stated that she'd been asked to give a count of how many of the positive covid tests were from people who had been vaccinated or partially vaccinated for covid. I'm amazed - I know that they ask about vaccination status when you go in to ED or provider offices, but that she'd be allowed to post that info surprises me. Or, rather, I will be amazed if it does end up happening. Someone fairly high up the ladder had to approve that...

Today is Cary's birthday, and we've had a housefull here all day. Our youngest DS has just left. Both DS's, DDIL, her mother and sister have been here. I've not had time to do anything. It's been a great day!

I'm making one of Cary's favorites tonight for supper. Spaghetti with my homemade meat sauce with peanut butter cookies for dessert.

This coming week is going to be a hectic one.

Cooler here today, only low 80s with hope of rain. Did some light grocery shopping. Then vacuum sealed all those nuts I bought, and the 2 big bags of chocolate chips. I put 22 lbs of buckwheat flour in mylar bags. I'm dehydrating some shredded carrots that Dh is not eating. I made LC beef stroganoff, cauliflower mashies, bbq chicken thighs and cheeseburger mac n cheese (for dd). I am freezing some eggs. At WM they only had small silicone molds and it was $6.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Renee,
We get those emails. They re -started 2 weeks ago. He was initially including how many hospitalized were vaxed (most were not) for first 2 reports. He's since dropped that little tidbit. Likely due to majority being vaxxed.

I have had a foot infection for the past month. Oral antibiotics didn't do anything so I was put on IV antibiotics. I've blown out two IV ports already so they want to put in a pic line, but we are waiting for my primary care doctor to approve (for insurance reasons). This is causing problems because it will be 3 days off meds before I get a pic line put in, so don't know if that is going to mess things up and cause rebound infection problems. We are supposed to go on vacation in just over 2 weeks, but that might have to be cancelled. After no vacations for 18 months, I am just about over all of this, and to have my vacation cancelled on top because of this is not making me a happy camper.

And my county in Florida has one of the highest covid rates and better half gets all bent out of shape over that. I am all for just living my life, taking precautions where necessary, but better half is more cautious and fearful. Sigh. I have stressed the shortages at the stores, so there are no complaints when I go shopping and bring home more stuff, even though there really is no room for it. I will find a corner somewhere. I've hit canned meats really hard and stocked up a lot. Also did a lot of stocking on things like underwear and bath items. Some things, like lite salt, have been hard to find.

Also already bought the grandkids Christmas presents. Found what I wanted for them and ordered early. Not going to let my kids not have a Christmas. They just started school this week and are so excited. They have been held under pretty strict quarantine for the past 18 months, so being around other kids is pretty special.

I don't have inside info -- just a strong gut feeling -- If there are prep-related things that you have been putting off, please try to get to them tomorrow or ASAP. That includes hair cuts, oil changes, and so on.

And if you haven't had a chance to enjoy summer, yet, try to take a walk, eat some ice cream, or do something that makes a happy memory. Those are preps, too.

Bound to be an interesting week - more and more work peeps are letting it be known they are less than happy with vaccine mandates. I will be sending in my medical exemption request - so we'll see. The apples are falling here (way early, usually it's mid-late September), so cider making is planned for next weekend. We ordered more chickens, so I need to get the pen ready for them. And of course, the garden is still going...

Marseydoats- I’m happy for you about getting a puppy finally and I commiserate with you on the potty training issues. I hope it gets better soon.

paxsim2- I’m sorry to hear about your fur baby. Do you still have a collie?

Renee- My grandsons will be starting their 3rd week back at school tomorrow. One day last week the school had to send one of the first grade classrooms all home. Then several more in different grades that have also tested positive and the school board have made the students and teachers go back to using masks. Youngest grandson had a bad headache from wearing them again.

Sherree - I’m glad you all had such a good day and Happy Birthday to Cary.

prudentwatcher- I hope you get things with your foot under control soon, sounds bad. I’ve started buying Christmas gifts for my youngest two grandkids for the same reason. Both boys have outgrown their kayaks so it would be wonderful to find some on clearance/ sale that maybe we could afford, gotta keep our eyes open.

Meemur- I agree, we need to get things done. I’ve been feeling that way for the past few weeks very strongly.

moldy-I hope your medical exemption works out without issues for you.

I’ve got so many things rolling around in my head of what I need to do next that I’ve had to start making lists. I studied my calendar earlier for this week trying to figure how to best use my time this week. I need and want to get some meat out of the freezers and get it canned and on the shelf. I really want to do some downsizing where our freezers are concerned and organizing in them.

Sadly, the world is spinning more out of control by the minute.

I wish you luck with that Covid vax exemption - could just be a backfire for you - if your personal care doc can issue it >>> you stand a chance at least for awhile ....

there's a whole underlying "Cuomo senicide" vaxing movement pushing it for their own delusional purposes ...

Yesterday we bought a used 4wheeler. Our nephew bought it new to help build credit. But he rarely rode it. It is a 2019 Rancher with only 98 miles on it. It has been kept in the garage even. Our nephew just wanted what he owed on it so it was a good deal. Our 4wheeler is a 2009 and we use it on the farm all the time. We had been talking about needing a new one and this is perfect.

I moved a setting hen to a pen by herself after dark last night. She is on 18 eggs. I hope she stays with it and hatches them. I need to replace my 2 roosters with young ones and a few young hens could not hurt.

We are getting ready for the newest tropical storm so our priorities have changed a bit.....

I did manage to finish the roof on the coop. A picture is attached.
Also, the frame is done and tightened up so it doesn't flex and the first row of hardware cloth has been attached. I have many more to go, but will need the wife's help to do it.

Unless she's an unusually large hen, you might want to pull a few of those eggs. Hens rotate their clutch continuously, moving eggs from the cooler outside to the warmest spot directly under her. But if they have more than a dozen eggs, they often spend too much time away from the warm center.

If it's very warm when you are right now, even at night, she might end up hatching many/most of them anyway. But my experience with oversized clutches haven't been good.

While all the family was together, yesterday, we all talked about the sense of urgency we were all feeling. So, this whole week, we're all going to be doing as much as we can to boost all of our stocks. We went over lists of items as a priority for each. Items that can be used for dual purposes. I told them some things that they put on their lists for items and food storage that they hadn't thought of, etc.....Everyone left with a goal in mind for this week.

Today, we have to venture out, and go to Junglemart to pick up Cary's prescription. Haven't been inside the store in a long time, but this is an exception for his med's. While there, I'm adding more OTC med's and vitamins. Cary want to get barbers's clippers (whatever it's called), so I can start cutting his hair here at home. He wears ball caps a lot, so if I mess it up, he says it'll grow back while wearing his caps, LOL. There are other items I want to check on, but hate having to go all over the store. I have a bit of uneasiness just going there. We will be prayed up and armed up when we go.

Tomorrow, we have to take Mom to big town for her CT scans. We're just going to drop her off at the clinic, and we'll wait in the car. They won't allow but one person in with her, but she told me to just wait in the car with Cary. Hopefully, it won't take too long. We're taking books to read while we wait. We have to pick her up at her house around 12 noon. When we take her back home, we'll stay and visit with her for awhile. We won't know the results of the scans, until she sees her doctor on August 26. She seems to be doing better, and eating more nutritous foods, lately.

Wednesday, I'll be making out Sam's, Keystone, books, and Chewy orders. Yard work if it's not raining. Figs are all gone, and they have been sooooo good. We've really enjoyed them. I gave a bunch to DIL, too. Tomatoes are beginning to slow down, and I'm taking Mom some, tomorrow. Got 20 qts out of them for the freezer, and gave lots away to DIL, so she could make salsa. I really didn't need to put up any more.

Thursday, we'll be making a run into small town for groceries and household items. Replacing food that I've used over two weeks, and adding more to stock. I need more rugs, towels, wash cloths, and another broom and mop to store away. I'm waiting on flannel sheet sets to come out. I need more of those, too, before winter gets here. Pretty soo, I'll start looking into buying more winter clothing for us both. Will probably order from TSC and Cabela's.

I don't have a clue as to what we're going to be doing the rest of the week. There's always something to do, though.

Blessings to all this week!

Just want to thank everyone for the Birthday congrats. Thank you.

This was the first time I've been 69, so a new experience. Eye sight and hearing seem to be doing no worse that the day before, so all good.

69 years ago I was in the hospital at Ft. Benning, GA, and a few years ago went by and visited, (it's still there) they didn't have a plague up commemorating my birth so, probably won't go back.

Thanks again everyone.

Oh boy. Happy Birthday Cary!

Working on hubs bedroom today. Clean, haul out old mattress, put new bedstand up. Will paint later this week.
Have to help him do his man cave after this.
Bedroom shouldn't be too awful. It's cooled down so that will help.

More produce from garden. Looking to get the rest of these projects done in the next month.

Sis and nephew home now. She had to do almost all his care, on the hour, including meds etc. He needed breathing tx hourly but no one to do more than one a day. They left her the meds and she did them. Same as at home. She said no one to help with changing, cleaning nothing. I asked her what they do for patients that don't have anyone to stay and do this. They basically lay in their mess. Get one change every shift. I know she is glad to get home.

Happy after birthday Cary, glad you had a good day.

I need to get the oil changed in my van, its a little past due. I've got my morning stuffed up nose and headache right now. Hopefully it will go away and I can get the oil changed this afternoon. I may brave the inside of walmart to pick up some yogurt and salad stuff.

My computer died last night, fortunately I have two new ones. My old computer was windows 7..The really nice one that my brother bought me for my birthday in February is a windows 10S. This morning, thanks to the instructions from a timebomber, I was able to switch off the "S" and get firefox downloaded. With that and the familiarity of it I'm not losing my mind. The sneaky bastards with their S mode, if its not disabled you can't download anything that's not in the microsoft store, there is nothing there that I'm interested in. It is a blessing that it can be turned off. So now I have all my book marks and can do what I normally do. There were things I'd saved to my desktop that are gone but right now I don't remember anything that I can't live without.

Well, we survived the trip to Junglemart! Picked up Cary's prescription, and I bought several more bottles of BioFreeze, OTC doctor prescribed eye drops (2 boxes), another large bottle of extra strength Melatonin, 2 boxes of Zicam, and the barber set. I just couldn't make myself walk through the store so, I didn't look around for anything else. I did run into a RN in the vitamin section. She was telling me that she hadn't been vaxxed, and was looking for more vitamins her boss (doctor) had told her to get. She can't find any Zinc anywhere, either. She was loading up on more Vit D and Zicam. I've got plenty of both for awhile.

I feel lots better being back home in my comfort zone.

It looks like I won;t be getting my oil changed today in my van. My headache went away for a while but has come back.

A part broke on DH's saw mill, its had to be special ordered by Harbor freight, up to 14 weeks and maybe not even then, its from china. However, DH searched around for the motor and found the part and it will be here next week, he ordered two. When it gets here and it works then I'll cancel the ones I ordered from HF. The saw mills themselves are out of stock. Maybe DH is learning that parts are getting hard to come by.

I'm a headache looking for a place to happen, its from allergies and I have them pretty often, I drank some more coffee and it went away, no fever. When I was little I wanted my own bottle of aspirin.

Keep an eye on it. I have a known ragweed allergy and am taking chlor-trimeton (one of the few meds I take! And only for 4 weeks) but I'm also checking my temperature and monitoring for other symptoms because Delta can start like hay fever.

You're not alone! I and others have made similar posts over the last few days. People who aren't on social media or see much news are feeling "a disturbance in the force," which confirmed for me that there really is something in the air.

Yes, I'm trying to make the most of my time, plus make some happy memories, too. I'm going to have a socially-distanced picnic dinner with friends at the park in a few minutes.

I decided I need to wear a less worn out pair of vionic flip flops. I found a pair that I haven't worn in a long time due to some pealing on the sides. This only affects the looks but around here who cares. I think it helped my balance. I also ordered a new to me pair on ebay that looks almost new, its easy to tell in pictures if the foot bed is worn down.

Well, we got Mom taken care of, yesterday. Now, we wait, until she sees her doctor to find out what the scans show, if anything. She's doing better. She wanted a milkshake, after having the scans done, so Cary took us to Chic-Fil-A for shakes. A nice treat.

I've got my lists ready to order from Sam's and Chewy this morning. I was checking my pantry, and found that I'm short of my 52 cans of pinto beans, so I added another case to my Sam's order. I've got a little careless about keeping up with how many cans of each vegetable I have in storage. I try to maintain 52 cans of each. It's a lot to try to keep up with. My Keystone meats order is already on it's way as of this morning when I checked.

I'm doing laundry this morning, but it's looks like rain will knock me out of hanging them outside. It's a large load, too. I'll have laundry hanging all over the house to dry. It's still iffy as to whether or not the yard gets mowed, today, too. Rain for the next 3 days. It's not too bad right now, but in 3 days, it's going to be. I may get to rake hay, LOL!

We are of the same opinion. Get it ready or expect to do without for a long while.

I was complaining about the shortages to the wife and she told me to get used to it.
