You have my sincere sympathy and understanding... as of today, I've endured 5 weeks since having my right knee replaced. When I had my left done ten years ago I followed doctors orders and took oxycodone. It was the worst experience of my lifetime... hallucination, constipation, imagination! Over the past ten years I forgot how much 'fun' it was to heal after the TKR but I didn't forget the side effects of the opioid. This time it has been nothing but extra strength Tylenol. Today my flexion measured out at 118 degrees at the physical therapist appointment. The knee surgeon wants to see 120 degrees to be happy, he say's I should gain 3 degrees per week so by the end of next week I'll be there.

A full nights sleep has been evading me since the surgery due to the constant ache, but it's getting better every week, I've been walking unaided since week two and doing all the farm chores so this time things went far better than the first knee replacement. I pray that, hearing all this, you'll keep the faith that it will get better every day and that you'll be so thankful that you (have only two knees) got it done. Walking pain free again will be your reward!!!

My left one got to 125 and a minus 2

So far the right one is at 94 and minus 8

Pain free is the way to fly. Doing rehab without Opoids was a good decision. I am glad to hear you are on the way to better days.

How are you doing with your recovery?

It is day ten today. I am able to walk short distances without my walker. I can walk to my mailbox and a little farther with my walker the pain comes and goes but overall, is getting better. I'm going to ask the Dr this week if I can start driving.

Good luck.

day 10-14 was a turning point for me---after the third week out the improvements were noticeable and significant--they let me start driving after the second week when I came off of the pain meds
I will be going back to work at about 11 weeks--if my job did not require me to get down on my knees to service the machines I would have been back at 8 weeks.
I have a great physical therapist and she has been amazed at my progress--I have been blessed
She said that for someone 65 yo to go back to work in just under 3 months after having both knees replaced was great
I still have room for improvement--there is still a small amount of swelling and quite a bit of numbness but all of that is slowly getting better
I was some what surprised at how much strength I lost but that is returning quickly with the rehab and exercises
For range of motion I have 132 in my left knee and 128 in my right knee and expect that to improve some with time

I wish you luck with your recovery and rehab-
I hope that you do not regret the decision --I know that I don't

eta--with any luck I will be able to hike the south kaibab in 18 months

Sorry to hear that, what can I say...outdated technology/procedures...over 100 billion dollars per year on knee/hip/shoulder replacement alone procedures, and that does not include rehab costs. There is ALWAYS a concerted effort to suppress what is cheaper/better technology. I deal with it on a daily basis. The orthopedic surgeon's absolutely hate us...such is life. My friend, a urologist, dealt with the same bias for years with a new prostrate cancer treatment.
