PRYR RQST Update : surgery coming up Thoughts and Prayers would be appreciated - UPDATE, post 86

SIL just had that done last week. They told her no pets for a week after the surgery. Claimed that people with pets had more infections than others. I'm thinking that the pets' wanting to be on laps might have something to do with that. Prayers for good results and fast recovery.

Everything went well

I have already walked a 100 feet

I even came back in time for dinner which wasn’t bad

I think it was the prayers that made things go so well
Thanks everyone

I’ll post an update tomorrow

Prayers for a speedy recovery! You have already walked on it? WOW! That's some seriously good news to hear.

100 feet today and in no time you'll be doing marathons-or at least being able to raid the refrigerator at midnight on your own two legs :)

So happy to hear things have gone well!

Great news! It surely is amazing what they are able to do with joint replacements, etc, these days. Continuing to pray for s successful and uneventful recovery.

Just had my first physical therapy session.

It was not fun

But I realize that will be the key to my recovery.

The PT was impressed I could her past 90 degrees and said I was already ahead of the game

I just had my right knee done. It was just as much fun as I remember the left knee surgery.

As usual, thoughts and prayers will be appreciated

I'm doing okay so far except the nerve block line was knocked out and they can't put it back in.

Guess I'll just have to suck it up buttercup.

Prayers sent. I have heard that for shoulders at least, 51% of the resuloution is the surgery, and 49% the PT afterwards.

You have my sincere sympathy and understanding... as of today, I've endured 5 weeks since having my right knee replaced. When I had my left done ten years ago I followed doctors orders and took oxycodone. It was the worst experience of my lifetime... hallucination, constipation, imagination! Over the past ten years I forgot how much 'fun' it was to heal after the TKR but I didn't forget the side effects of the opioid. This time it has been nothing but extra strength Tylenol. Today my flexion measured out at 118 degrees at the physical therapist appointment. The knee surgeon wants to see 120 degrees to be happy, he say's I should gain 3 degrees per week so by the end of next week I'll be there.

A full nights sleep has been evading me since the surgery due to the constant ache, but it's getting better every week, I've been walking unaided since week two and doing all the farm chores so this time things went far better than the first knee replacement. I pray that, hearing all this, you'll keep the faith that it will get better every day and that you'll be so thankful that you (have only two knees) got it done. Walking pain free again will be your reward!!!

dstraito, How's that knee doing? Praying that progress is swift and minimally painful.

It has been one week and though I get impatient for the knee to get better faster it is making good probress.

Having already done the left knee I can compare the two and see how far a knee can come.
