In a recent radio conversation, Jeff Rense and I discussed some of the inexplicable anomalies related to the night-time train derailment of chemical-laden tankers at East Palestine, Ohio, which left a slew of questions but very few clear answers. Following the Rense program, I contacted an acquaintance in eastern Ohio, “K.T.”, who fortunately was tracking the local news and independent citizens’ reports online. K.T. disclosed the many inconsistencies in the official cover-up by the Norfolk Southern rail company, the Ohio governor’s office and the EPA, indicators of a panicked cover-up ordered by Governor Mike DeWine, a Republican, under pressure from the Democrat-led EPA and the Biden White House.
The bipartisan shunning of the fears of regional residents, along with the heavy-handed mainstream media cover-up, indicated that the train derailment involves a national security issue and official secrets. This analytical article, aided by citizen reporting from the Ohio-Penn border region, exposes in detail the reasons for an illegal unregistered nighttime shipment of chemical weapons precursors as the cause of the near-explosive overheating of tanker cars and the use of an elongated burn pit from whence that ominous column of black smoke arose from the toxic flames.

The mainstream media disclaimers and those denials known as “fact-checkers”, aka apologists for the intelligence agencies, politicians “in the know” and the war industry, have only added “fuel to the flames” of their own exposure and removal. Biden rode the 10-hour train to Kyiv to mourn the demise of NATO’s clandestine plot to ride to Ukraine’s rescue. Since no tears were shed for East Palestine, I won’t be crying for war criminal Zelensky or his overlord Joe Biden. We can only be thankful, to some hidden force, that nobody was immediately killed in East Palestine, though the health threat will linger for many months, and maybe years from now.

Liquid Cargo from Dow’s Toxic Waste Site

The source of the cargo in Madison, Illinois, was a shut-down uranium-rod production facility of the infamous Dow Chemical company (of Agent Orange notoriety), more recently operating under the cover name of Spectrulite. Since the mid-1990s, the radioactive site, located across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, has been under a “clean-up” (toxic containment) effort by the EPA, which has resisted designating the huge mess as a permanent hazardous waste dump. The chlorine-based compound inside the five suspect tanker cars was falsely described by the EPA and Norfolk Rail as “vinyl chloride”, a rather innocuous substance, in a cover-up of the actual content of highly volatile vinylidene chloride. The latter, a powerful oxidizing agent also known as 1,1 Dichloroethene, was used by Dow to clean uranium fuel rods at the Madison facility, where it has since been stored in steel holding tanks.

The logical question that rears up is: Where was that lethal cargo going to be delivered? The Norfolk Southern destination was just across the state line in Conway, Pennsylvania, located in Beaver County adjoining East Palestine’s Columbiana County. But that was not the end of journey. The Conway Rail Yard, operated by Norfolk Southern for more than a century, is a massive switching facility, the largest in the USA until the 1980s. Conway adjoins the Ohio River, and therefore has no major chemical plant or waste-disposal facility to accept tankers with a 30,000 gallon capacity. Therefore, it is safe to conclude the suspect five tankers along with several other chemical haulers were at the rear of the train for the purpose of decoupling and route transfer toward a completely different direction from the boxcars filled with foodstuffs from the upper Mississippi region heading to warehouses near major eastern cities.

Deadly Destination

Since the Madison (Illinois) site was a large-scale EPA holding center in an elbow of the Mississippi shoreline, it would have made zero sense to move the sensitive cargo hundreds of miles to a densely populated region located a mere 25 miles from Pittsburgh, which is not a center of the chemicals industry. Nowadays hazardous chemical plants are located by the sea, in event of major spillage, mostly along the Gulf Coast. There are no alternative narratives other than the obvious “usual suspects”.

Thus, the unmarked toxic tanker cars were obviously bound for the Edgewood Chemical Weapons Arsenal, located on the U.S. Army’s Aberdeen Proving Ground, fronting Chesapeake Bay north of Baltimore, Maryland. For those Pollyannas who still believe the great Joe Biden can do no wrong, I hereby lay out the probable planned route of the second leg of the train journey: resuming the journey from the Conway train yard through Pittsburgh, then onto Altoona and the Harrisburg junction, from where the toxic train takes a brief northerly dog leg and resuming the easterly movement along the Maryland tracks toward Baltimore, and then a leftward split-off onto a secondary track to Aberdeen at the northern Chesapeake shore. Any further questions or objections?

On arrival at the Edgewood facility, the vinylidene chloride payload is readily weaponized into pure chlorine or far likelier “less lethal” phosgene for injection into canisters, for attachment to bombs and artillery shells. The tactical objective is to fell Polish civilians, not render them dead in less than an hour, although many will surely die from poisoned lung tissue in sufficient number to muster a NATO declaration of war against Russia and Belarus. This sort of secret use of phosgene is illegal under U.S. law and the international Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) ratified by 53 nations, including the United States, in 1963. A defacto ban on CW has existed since the end of World War I. Joe and Volodomyr, what in hell were you two crazy fools planning? Now let’s be done with the legal formalities for your war crimes trials and just swallow the cyanide capsules as if they are jelly beans.

As part of the Sputnik catch-up with the Soviets generation, I embraced organic chemistry in college as the magic wand that would save humankind from self-destruction. My dream of a world without suffering was naive, indeed folly. So please put up with this “blackboard lecture” for a few minutes to comprehend the hidden danger in those five tanker cars, and then go out to your favorite bar or cocktail lounge to wash away the horrifying thoughts.

The giveaway leaving no doubts was the midair detection of phosgene in the black cloud over the rail-side burn pit. Its formula is COCl2, translated as C for carbon, O oxygen, and CL-2 being two chlorine molecules. Its name is derived from Greek words for light and birth, as it was first synthesized by exposing carbon monoxide to strong sunlight giving birth to a weird yellowish compound that smells like fresh-mowed hay. The bizzare name of the Dow successor company Spectrulite is inspired by the eerie yellowish glow of Vinylidene chloride and phosgene when heated. On contact with humans and animals, it burns the eyes, ears and nostrils, inflicting unbearable pain and horrific scars.

The French deployed phosgene during trench warfare in World War I, resulting in the deaths of 85,000 German, English, American and French soldiers; the Imperial Japanese Army used phosgene to decimate China’s civilian population in the 1930s, to the dismay of the European powers. The atomic weight of chlorine is 35.45 or three times that of carbon at 12, and hydrogen at a mere 1.0. The imbalance in atomic weight means that volatile chlorine can break loose from its micro-electromagnetic bonds to become a free-ranging radical, generating heat of explosive power during inter-molecular collisions, especially when agitated. Since I trained in college to become a lab chemist rather than a chemistry teacher, I hope this simple-as-possible description shows the reader how the violent flames and towering black smoke were generated, along the potential harmful effects for any humans or animals that ingest the fumes (some 3,500 wild animals reportedly were killed, and many local residents suffered “painful smoke inhalation” aka chemical poisoning from the Norfork-EPA pit burn). They did the burn because when they were trying to clean up the tankers with the vynel chloride it made it very unstable. They thought it was going to explode. They fireman were going to have a breakfast meeting where I work. We're there 15 minutes and all of them ran out because they thought it was going to pop. It was a Sunday. They then decided to do the burn before the tank exploded. I think it was just one that was in danger. The others weren't completely full. They were afraid it was going to explode instead of drain when they did the controlled burn, which would have been much worse. It was a lesser of two evils thing. I think they should have evacuated further out. I know people that are sick, have rashes. They lady I work with is all messed up. Another Lady I know works in the Blue building right beside where it happened. She's a secretary. The tracks are 20 feet from the building. Her anxiety is through the roof. She has a rash, cries all the time. So many stories.

News reports of what NTSB is saying this morning sound like they're doing what I feared NS would do--

putting the blame on the TRAIN CREW

which has NO AUTHORITY to defy Dispatch and stop a train when DISPATCH says "go on" (even if Dispatch is breaking the law by doing so)

and they're talking like (per the news) that the crew got NO warning until they were nearly at East Palestine anyway---

But reports HERE have claimed that dispatch told the crew to try to go all the way to Camden yard (a good bit further on)

And the ONLY way they wouldn't have KNOWN they had a hot wheel (or wheel on fire) was if every defect detector in the 20 miles from Salem to E Palestine was not working.

--and if they really were not working--that was NOT the crew's fault.

So please put up with this “blackboard lecture” for a few minutes to comprehend the hidden danger in those five tanker cars, and then go out to your favorite bar or cocktail lounge to wash away the horrifying thoughts.

The giveaway leaving no doubts was the midair detection of phosgene in the black cloud over the rail-side burn pit. Its formula is COCl2, translated as C for carbon, O oxygen, and CL-2 being two chlorine molecules. Its name is derived from Greek words for light and birth, as it was first synthesized by exposing carbon monoxide to strong sunlight giving birth to a weird yellowish compound that smells like fresh-mowed hay. The bizzare name of the Dow successor company Spectrulite is inspired by the eerie yellowish glow of Vinylidene chloride and phosgene when heated. On contact with humans and animals, it burns the eyes, ears and nostrils, inflicting unbearable pain and horrific scars.

which has NO AUTHORITY to defy Dispatch and stop a train when DISPATCH says "go on" (even if Dispatch is breaking the law by doing so)

and they're talking like (per the news) that the crew got NO warning until they were nearly at East Palestine anyway---

But reports HERE have claimed that dispatch told the crew to try to go all the way to Camden yard (a good bit further on)

And the ONLY way they wouldn't have KNOWN they had a hot wheel (or wheel on fire) was if every defect detector in the 20 miles from Salem to E Palestine was not working.

--and if they really were not working--that was NOT the crew's fault.

Yes. This happened yesterday on 10, not far from out in front of our place. Tanker got its ass kissed by a fully loaded dry van, tanker placarded gasoline/diesel managed to pull over and stay greasy-side-down but the dry van was on its side, taking a nap in the center median. Haven't got a pic of that. Bosslady said it smelled like diesel and not gasoline, I couldn't smell a thing with my packed up sinuses yesterday.

IH10 westbound was shut down for almost 24 hrs while they did whatever they had to do. Traffic was a NIGHTMARE, as the only detour route is a two-lane no shoulders, which just happened to have a bridge getting rebuilt, and was down to 1 lane with the portable red light machines.

The news said the NTSB said the train wrecked "when the crew put on the brakes" to stop at East Palestine AFTER getting the notice (it didn't say from where) that a "hot wheel had been detected."

They're making it sound like it was the BRAKING of the train that caused the wreck.

Earlier this week the SAME station (Woke Socialist Broadcasting) published a little blurb about TRUMP supposedly "weakening regulations on train brakes"---

when obviously that is a straw man, as the wheel was SEEN on fire LONG before East Palestine---brakes or no brakes!

Yes, I'm sure they lied, and I'm not trying to defend Norfolk at all. But I was around the firefighters that were there. I heard what they were saying, no one thought this was a good idea. I'm just not sure they had much time. I'm thinking if they would have brought in some agency qualified to move those tankers safely, this may not have been such a catastrophe. But, they were trying to get it cleaned up as quickly as they could and caused the one tanker to become unstable to the point that they evacuated everyone. And did what they did. I remember them saying it caught fire again and rushing out.

I remember reading on the CDC website that liquid vinyl chloride boils at 7-degrees Fahrenheit--but if it was much lower temps than that, then it shouldn't have been "unstable".....?

DEER PARK, Texas (AP) — Toxic wastewater used to extinguish a fire following a train derailment in Ohio has been transported to a Houston suburb for disposal, according to a county official in Texas who said there are outstanding questions about the transportation and disposal of the material.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said at a press conference Thursday that 500,000 gallons (1.8 million liters) of the wastewater had been delivered to Deer Park, Texas.
“I know that our community was taken aback by the news just as I was,” Hidalgo said. “I also want folks to know there are many things we don’t know that we should know. That doesn’t mean that something is wrong. And I want to stress that point.”

Hidalgo said the county on Wednesday learned of the wastewater transfer from the site of a fiery Feb. 3 derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, which prompted evacuations when toxic chemicals were burned after being released from five derailed tanker rail cars carrying vinyl choride that were in danger of exploding.

The wastewater has been delivered to Texas Molecular, which injects hazardous waste into the ground for disposal. The company told KHOU-TV it is experienced in managing this type of disposal.

“Our technology safely removes hazardous constituents from the biosphere. We are part of the solution to reduce risk and protect the environment, whether in our local area or other places that need the capabilities we offer to protect the environment,” the company said.

Hidalgo said Texas Molecular informed county officials that it had taken delivery of a half million gallons of firefighting water with the expectation of an additional 1.5 million gallons hauled to the site by about 30 trucks per day.

“It’s a very real problem we were told yesterday the materials were coming only to learn today they’ve been here for a week,” said Hidalgo, who wants more information on precautions taken at the injection well.

The delivery also raises questions about the methods of transport, which she said may include trains, and the possible health impact on workers involved in the transfers and the communities between the Ohio crash site and the disposal area in Deer Park, one of 34 communities in Harris County.

Uncertainties remain even after discussions between the county and officials from the federal Department of Transportation and Environmental Protection Agency, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and other industry and environment experts, Hidalgo said.

“The government officials have readily provided the information they have, but what we’re learning is that they themselves don’t seem to have the full information,” she said. “I’m not clear on who has the full picture of what is happening here and that is a problem,”

She noted Harris County has around 10 injection wells capable of receiving hazardous commercial waste, making the area one of the few places where the materials could be disposed. But she said there are similar facilities in Vickery, Ohio, and Romulus, Michigan, that also could handle the wastewater and are located closer to the crash site.

“There may be logistical reasons for all of this. There may be economic reasons. Perhaps Texas Molecular outbid the Michigan facility,” Hidalgo said. “It doesn’t mean there’s something nefarious going on, but we do need to know the answer to this question.”

Hidalgo added that she first learned Harris County was the disposal site from a journalist, “not from a regulatory agency, not from the company,” which she said was “unacceptable.”

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality told KTRK-TV that Texas Molecular “is authorized to accept and manage a variety of waste streams, including vinyl chloride, as part of their ... hazardous waste permit and underground injection control permit.”

Dr. George Guillen, executive director of the Environmental Institute of Houston, said the chemical is “very, very toxic” but the risk to the public is minimal.

“This injection, in some cases, is usually 4,000 or 5,000 feet down below any kind of drinking water aquifer,” said Guillen, a University of Houston-Clear Lake professor of biology and environmental science.

Guillen and Deer Park resident Tammy Baxter said their greatest concerns are transporting the chemicals more than 1,300 miles (2,090 kilometers) from East Palestine to Deer Park.

“There has to be a closer deep well injection,” Baxter told KTRK. “It’s foolish to put it on the roadway. We have accidents on a regular basis ... It is silly to move it that far.”

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who visited the derailment site Thursday, has warned the railroad responsible for the derailment, Norfolk Southern, to fulfill its promises to clean up the mess just outside East Palestine and help the town recover.

Buttigieg also has announced a package of reforms intended to improve rail safety while regulators try to strengthen safety rules.

Exhibit 'A' On Stupidity


The NTSB "early look" report is out and it makes very clear that the Ohio derailment was:
  • Directly caused by stupidity

    and
  • Entirely avoidable had anyone been able and willing to perform basic math been on board the train or at Norfolk-Southern, or the system in question was deliberately designed to withhold critical safety information.
In other words but for putting people in places of authority where they had absolutely no business being, to the point that their best and highest job offer ought to be pushing a broom on a floor, whether due to believing that 2 + 2 = 22 or some other sort of insanity it would have not happened.

The hotbox detectors were working.

Here is the short-form of the explanation, then we'll get into the details:

Train 32N was operating with a dynamic brake application as the train passed a wayside defect detector on the east side of Palestine, Ohio, at milepost (MP) 49.81. The wayside defect detector, or hot bearing detector (HBD), transmitted a critical audible alarm message instructing the crew to slow and stop the train to inspect a hot axle. The train engineer increased the dynamic brake application to further slow and stop the train. During this deceleration, an automatic emergency brake application initiated, and train 32N came to a stop.

Ok, let's dissect this paragraph.

Dynamic braking is the use of the electric motor in a diesel-electric locomotive as a brake. Instead of being coupled to the generator driven by the diesel engine to move the train forward it is instead connected to a big honking resistor (that's what that "bulging sideways thing" is on the engines; it is the housings and fans for those as, you might imagine, they produce a lot of heat when in use), the motor generates electricity from the train's movement which is intentionally dumped into the resistor. The result is to slow the train instead of accelerating it, much like a Tesla does if you have it set to use regenerative braking.

This implies that the train was descending a mild grade and the dynamic was sufficient to control the train's speed. That would be normal for a mild descent where there's no reason to use the service brakes; the dynamic incurs no wear on the braking components. And, in fact, we know the train was in control speed-wise; it was operating within the speed limits for that section of track.

While the train was being slowed via the dynamic and almost-immediately after the hotbox detector (the last one) went off the emergency brakes -- air driven -- actuated. This was almost certainly (not yet proved, but I'll bet we will eventually find that it was) caused by a violation of the integrity of the airline that powers the service brake system and runs the length of the train, quite-possibly because the fire in the axle truck burned through it. When that happens the air pressure rapidly collapses in the line and the emergency brake system actuates. The engineer in the cab can also command that and the data recorder should show this if in fact it was. We will learn this in time.

Multiple cars derailed; the probable cause was:

NTSB investigators identified and examined the first railcar to derail, the 23rd railcar in the consist. Surveillance video from a local residence showed what appeared to be a wheel bearing in the final stage of overheat failure moments before the derailment. The wheel bearing and affected wheelset have been collected as evidence and will be examined by the NTSB.

The wheelset in question from publicly-released surveillance video was on fire. That would be consistent with the airline burning through. The axle bearing loses its location capability, it shifts, one or both wheels on that axle jump and/or destroy the integrity of the rail it is traveling on and once the first truck goes off it drags the others off due to the ridiculous amount of momentum in the whole.

This is the very-likely set of events, and what we already knew was likely to have been the direct cause of the derailment (as I commented on previously.)

But what we now know is that the progressive failure process was detected with plenty of time and reason to stop.

Specifically:

Train 32N passed three HBD systems on its trip before the derailment. At MP 79.9, the suspect bearing from the 23rd car had a recorded temperature of 38°F above ambient temperature. When train 32N passed the next HBD, at MP 69.01, the bearing’s recorded temperature was 103°F above ambient. The third HBD, at MP 49.81, recorded the suspect bearing’s temperature at 253°F above ambient.
NS has established the following HBD alarm thresholds (above ambient temperature) and criteria for bearings:
• Between 170°F and 200°F, warm bearing (non-critical); stop and inspect
• A difference between bearings on the same axle greater than or equal to 115°F (non-critical); stop and inspect
• Greater than 200°F (critical); set out railcar

At the first sensor the temperature was 38F above ambient.

10.89 miles later it was at 103F above ambient, just below the "stop and inspect" threshold for a differential reading.

19.2 miles later it was well over the critical temperature at 253F.

Shortly after that the train derailed.

Anyone with a brain in their head had to know that if you are at 38F over ambient and ten miles later you're more than 100F over ambient you will exceed the "stop and inspect threshold" well before you reach the next detector in 20 more miles, and if the failure is progressive, and most failures are, you will be well over the critical threshold and on the verge of a catastrophic failure by the time you get there.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to know this -- you simply need to be competent to operate dangerous machinery with known margins which you must not exceed for said machinery to remain safe and know that there is a progressive failure showing up in the data.


That's exactly what happened and nothing more than basic arithmetic -- sixth grade material here folks -- was required for anyone and everyone who saw that data to know that continuing to operate that train was dangerous and quite likely to lead to a disastrous failure.

Therefore there are only two possibilities: The system did not alert anyone or the crew ignored it.

If the system didn't alert anyone then everyone involved in that design needs to be tried and thrown in prison for the rest of their miserable lives as such a trend is critical information and deliberately not disclosing it to the crew on board the train is beyond unconscionable. For this Norfolk-Southern must pay.

If, on the other hand the crew knew and ignored it because safety limits were not yet breached despite the trend change then whoever made that call is incompetent to operate a broom, say much less a locomotive.

The bottom line is that there is no valid reason the crew did not have twenty miles of fair warning in which to stop and avert the derailment and did not do so. We are now down to why did they not stop -- was the system programmed to deliberately withhold that information or did it provide it and the crew ignored it?

The entire point of a system like this is to detect incipient problems with plenty of time to take corrective action. The equipment was functional but no equipment can do anything about HUMAN STUPIDITY whether in what the equipment communicates due to its design or what people do with the information if it is communicated. Damn written policy and "limits" to Hades; if you as an operating engineer with two firing neurons in your head observe a condition that any reasonable person who has an IQ sufficient to be trusted with dangerous machinery is nearly certain to degrade beyond safe limits based on the data you have before you can get to the next confirmatory signaling device YOU STOP NOW AND FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON.

If we have people like this designing and operating our nuclear and chemical plants -- and you know damn well that we almost-certainly do -- it is merely a matter of time before one or more of our cities glows in the dark.

And get rid of every single person in a safety-critical position who cannot do basic math in their head in 30 seconds in a situation like this, when you have PLENTY of warning, or who will not immediately, when such a situation exists, SHUT IT DOWN, along with anyone who puts together a system that deliberately withholds trend information that strongly suggests a failure will occur based on what it observes.
