Allow me to add...... Just because the US does something does not make it right. If it is wrong for Russia to do something, then it is wrong for the US to do the same thing. I'm not condoning either. I don't like seeing innocent people suffer and die.

Well, that was magnificent planning on the part of the peacocks in charge! Did they never game plan something like this out? The moment that Russia even hinted at stirring things up, plans should have been made for food and fuel. Things you absolutely need to survive are water, food, shelter and heat (in winter). How many of these European countries have any type of stockpile of any of them? I really can't say too much because of Pudding Cup our stockpiles have probably been sold to China.

I would hope and pray for that. However, my government and consequently the military have not been proving themselves to be forthright with what the real mission would be. Personally, any security needed beyond the norm would indicate a need to evacuate for the time being as opposed to beefing things up with special forces.
Well, ain't this just dandy! Just proving my point that Russia is NOT alone in this. There are quite a few countries that absolutely hate our guts and will go out of their way to try and pile on.
It is difficult to substantiate the idea of "wrongness" when every country in the world maintains a military. Even countries within the EU who are surrounded by other EU countries have armies. Even within the US, states maintain military independent from the national military.
LOL - How can something so wrong, feel so right?
Just think, when we have a One World Government, we won't have to maintain military anywhere in the world because it is just wrong.

Update: U.S. Secretary of Defense: We are still far from sending troops into Ukraine.
US Defense Secretary: The Czech Republic will provide combat helicopters with air-to-surface missiles to Ukraine.
SecDef Austin says Denmark announced today it will deliver a Harpoon launcher and missiles for Ukraine to help it defend its coast.
CJCS Gen. Milley says there are now 102k US troops in EUCOM, up from 78k in the fall. 12 US fighter squadrons and 2 combat aviation brigades in Europe.

The War In Ukraine is not going to end, the POS ZUSA will not let it end.

Russia is going to have to go completely scorched earth, in the Donbas,

and put missiles again in Cuba, along with a sub base, and air force base.

I dunno...... what would Russia have to gain by sacrificing alot of their equipment, soldiers, economy and world opinion (if they even care about that) so China can grab Taiwan? Who knows?
No. China is pulling the strings. China whispers in Putins ear about how NATO is taking over and how he has to stop it. While in the West they work to create shortages and fears that are Russias fault. Once the US and Russia are going at it China takes Taiwan, parts of the Pacific and some of Eatern Russia because their only potential adversaries are busy slugging it out with each other.

And yes Russia is not the USSR but I am pretty sure any rationalization you use to greenlight the invasion BY Russia does not mean the invasion was justified.
We keep hearing about the mighty Russian military just one tank division or tactical nuc away from rolling into western Ukraine and destroying Nato. Sorry not going to happen and neither is your fantasy of USSR 2.0. At least not this Russia at this time. This will be a slugfest in the Eastern and Southern part of Ukraine to find a point of mutual exhaustion to redraw the border to give Russia a reward for its land grab.
Granted Russia was tweaked, but just because your younger brothers is annoying does not in my world provide a reason for bigger older brother to take a 2x4 to younger brothers head. The expectation is with greater power comes greater responsibility.
Why some here seem to think Russia is a good guy is beyond me. Putin is a thug who has raped the resources of Russia to pad his own pockets (just like US democrats) and if he rolled Ukraine would not stop he would then try to roll Moldova and Poland because he wants his empire back. This is empire building and all the silly bleating about ‘oohhh Nazi’s’ and Russian’s sitting in kindergarten being bombed by Ukraine is just a fig leaf covering the land grab and political bullying.
I think Ukraine doesn’t need billions of US aid to hold their own against Russia they could probably do it with 1/40th the number. The 40 is this stupid moronic administration getting all excited about ‘nation’ building in Russia. Stupid idea but the idiots pulling the strings are full of stupid idea’s.
Both Russia and the US are so full of their own over reach AND living in the past (hey Obama, hey Putin the 1960’s is calling they want their cold war back) that it is breathtaking how each side are so much a mirror image of political, diplomatic and military missteps it is breathtaking to behold.
To be honest this all probably being orchestrated by MI-6. Leave it to Brit’s to create wars and conflicts using other people’s armies.
Russia and China are great frenemies.
They both want the other to take on the US military to be the last man standing and both know this so they dance the enemy of my enemy is my friend but I don’t trust my friend dance.
If the US gets sucked in China may have opportunity but the current proxie war provides enough, today, US defense flexibility to imho give China reason to hold off for now.
Of course in the case of political instability (like internal power struggle) or social unrest in China All actions are on the table.

Then surely you ere outraged when the Ukrainian government killed 14,000 Russian speaking Ukrainians since the “revolution”...
That is only 24K more troops than normally stationed there. 7 fighter squadrons are permanently stationed in Europe as well. US has 90 fighter squadrons total. That extra 5 isnt a lot. At least one of the aviation brigades was over there as part of their standard rotation. I would hardly call that build up stripping us bare.
China is not going to invade CONUS. It is not going to happen. They dont have the capability yet.

It will only be food supplies being taken from the ports out of concern for the poor starving masses.

Would the average russian be more willing to accept the sanctions they are experiencing if they were imposed by putin to rid russia of western influence and banking control rather than the west imposing them? Rally around the flag, look what the west did to us simply for protecting the ethnic russians suffering under the rule of ukranian nazis.
Look at the real cost to the west to implement the sanctions on russia while tiptoeing around china.
The battle is financial. How did the west defeat the USSR and its massive military?
What will be the effects on the western MIC if they lose access to the advanced chips made in taiwan?
Just speculation on my part, worth about as much as you paid for it.
So how are the Chinese going to do it. What capabilities do they have? Particularly their naval and amphibious capabilities. I am intrigued.
