All three Russian Baltic Fleet Ropucha-class heavy landing ships departed Baltiysk during this afternoon and evening

Oh boy, everyone's going for a boat ride....weeeeee!

These troops don't have to get off the boat. During Gulf war part 1, whole lot of USMC were stuck just off the coast to force Saddam to waste troops defending an amphibious landing that never occured.

This could just be a feint to see who does what, or some sort of back room threat to help in the negotiations.

Thank you for posting that, WTSR. I have to confess that I had absolutely no idea about Russia having an ice-free Baltic seaport until your posting made me take a closer look. As a prize of post-WWII, the Kaliningrad (nee Konigsberg) Oblast was given to Russia and it has remained part of Russia since. It's 200 miles (350 km or so) to the closest Russian border. Quite illuminating!

For any curious minds, this link is a good explanation of Kaliningrad Oblast (Baltiysk is a very narrow peninsula of the oblast and is apparently the home port of those heavy landing ships).

That puts six landing ships at sea if Hal Turner is to be believed about the 3 already off Sweden. From both the Baltic Fleet and the Northern fleet. Approx 2000 troops and 80-100 vehicles. For a short run you could probably squeeze a few hundred more troops on them.

Isn't that a cruise ship in the background? Maybe they sent everyone on vacation?
Probably just a coincidence or maybe it is laid up. Dont know how much cruising goes on in the Baltic in Jan. Cruise ships make great temporary barracks as all they need are water, sewer and electric connections.

Well now, looks like "crazy hal" gets a HIT on the assault ships. Putin doesn't have to actually land troops. He can just cruise around and play :roll2::arg: Your ship papers please? :kaid:

Where we stand: The U.S. and NATO have officially offered to meet with President Putin again so far there has been no response. At the same time Russia expects a written response from U.S. and NATO next week on it's demands it gave to the West.

Germany also to meet with Ukraine on Monday then Russia on Tuesday.

The dual key nuclear weapon arrangement with Germany has been in place for years-not just "recently". But the general is right. It won't take too many nukes to remove Germany completely off the map. Of course, the fallout from an attack like this will also heavily contaminate most of Western Europe in the process.

I REALLY wish Comrade Joe and Vlad the Impaler would step back and look at what they're doing. Both are talking themselves up for a global thermonuclear war. It's gone way past wargaming something like this-both sides are spiraling out of control, all from one territorial dispute.

We need both sides to back up and breathe for a minute-otherwise humanity as a whole will suffer.

I read this as two more weeks. Go figger.

I am particularly focused on the 28th, as we're in a period of "mercury retrograde"(13-3rd) which creates confusion, malfunctions, and misunderstandings, in other words, the exact conditions that favour an accidental start to an engagement.

Such time periods are also ones in which we feel compelled to rehash and review past actions, so I will be in prayer that those who's minds and hearts steer us at this time are specifically called to reflection and reassessment instead of taking the fork in the river that we all see too clearly ahead. The 28th receives extra pressure from pluto, so I will be doing a fasting/prayer period those 3 days from Jan 25-28th, and be hoping for the best, but not entirely surprised if we find we've bumbled and fumbled our way into another tense period, or worse.

emp weapon? A grid drop would do more damage than anything else.

Kremlin Press Secretary Peskov on the Ukraine–Russia conflict: "We are insisting on solving the situation, solving the problem. We have too much tension on the border. We have too much tension in this part of Europe. [...] It's extremely, extremely dangerous."

The discussions around their original comment seemed to yawn and mock; apparently the key words from their (Russian) statement are "If NATO deploys troops near our borders that threaten the very existence of Russia, then we can create such weapons systems that can pose a threat to the existence of Western civilization."
..apparently they themselves are aware that they don't have the means and methods to do such a thing, even should they desire to, which is also debatable as a real concern

Not to say that great mischief cannot be unleashed, of course.
I don’t think they even need an emp. Just hack into the grid and bring it down.

That weapon apparently is not delivered so much by missile, which is potentially the greatest red herring known to modern society......but by electronic imposition, which is quite existent, likely in both offending parties, Russian and Chinese.

As has been said, shutting down America’s power grid for an indeterminate amount of time will be more than sufficient to “pose a threat to the existence of Western civilization."

The way they worded that does not preclude whatever it is they are talking about as already being in existence, but rather can be read as justifying that which they have already created. Weapons systems shouldn't be construed as only coming in the form of missiles or other hardware. Weapons systems can be electronic or biological too.

Exactly. I'm thinking that they (china and russia) already have all the mapping that they need on our infrastructure (Power, Phone and Internet along with certain ground link stations) to guarantee that we will be in the cold, dark, and (radio) silence for a while. We have already seen what tampering with just a few computers on an petro pipeline that were not properly air-gapped can cause. Imagine someone or some group going in and changing the voltages on the HV side of life in our grid... Or just removing the loads all together, waiting 30 seconds, then reconnecting. Or how about de-syncing the phases between parts off the grid (you can just picture the fun as one part is at 60Hz, and the neighboring grid is at 58Hz, leaving a twice a second strobing of the power somewhere between the two going from min current to max current. I mean, if you can zero-day a big room full of spinny things to go all out overrev, then you can cause all sorts of havoc manually with a room (or chinese city) full of dedicated, state sponsored hackers.

What better way to Build Back Bankrupt...
