Our niece came down from Little Rock to watch my mother while the DW and I went shopping in Sherman, Texas. Sherman is about 130 miles away from our home. 12 Hour and 45 Minute shopping day. Most time the DW and I have been able to spend with each other in a long time.

We looked a new flooring for our addition. Flooring prices like all other construction materials have gone way up in price. For the flooring that the DW wants is either $2.49 or $3.49 per square feet with 1,050 sf required. Will have to make a decision and buy what she wants.

Shopped at Kroger's and Albertson's. Grocery prices appear to be currently stable except for meat which continues to rise to astronomical prices. Did purchase at Kroger's 94% ground turkey for $3.49 per pound where 93% ground beef was $6 per pound. Albertson's had pork roast for 87 cents a pound, but none in stock due to no truck delivery. The DW makes sausage with the pork roasts. Did get two rolls of Owen's pork sausage for $1.87 using digital coupons at Albertson's.

We have saved nearly $800 at Kroger's this year using digital coupons. You need to try digital coupons if you are not which can save you lots.

Did acquire 16 cans of Progresso soup for 99 cents a can if you bought at least 8 cans at Kroger's. Progresso soup has increased in quality over the last few years and it is worth buying.

There were bare areas on the shelves for the specials and in other areas.

TP and paper towels are available, but shelves were not fully stocked. Home Depot and Lowe's both had TP and paper towels available.

It appears that people are stocking up. One guy at Lowe's had 6 multi packs of TP in his basket.

Buy while you can for the trucking industry is not keeping up.

Neither here nor there.
I just looked Bimbo up; they bake and distribute SEVERAL companies such as ; Thomas English muffins, Entenmenns (sp?) baked goods; plus a lot of other big names in baked goods.

Apparently they also make buns for Wendy's. I took this in their parking lot a little bit ago while waiting for my salad. Their Southwest Grilled Chicken salad is so good, had to remove the guacamole though it had lemon or lime juice in it and I'm allergic to citrus.

FYI, we have two grocery stores in my area, Walmart and Meijer. Both have been out of CoffeeMate creamer in the big tubs for over a month. These last two weeks, even the smaller canisters have been out. I have a few put back, but it’s one example of something that’s just not been available at all.

So, we're planning on turning a dozen heads of cabbage, half a bushel of peppers and the rapidly-sprouting sweet onions into a batch of canned coleslaw. I needed celery seed... no biggie. Right? Er... nope! Went to SIX stores... no celery seed!

Can you use dried celery? I can send you some!

We still don’t have basil around here! Except I found done at Meijer, I think that’s just weird!

Unfortunately, the seeds have a flavor that difficult to replace. I've got plenty of dried celery, but thank you! I think my daughter has some...she'll probably drop it in the mail for me. I remember tossng the large (commercial sized from the restaurant supply store) container of celery seed when I was packing for the move. It was at least 10 years old, and I figured I'd get fresh once we were settled. Oops!

Good to know about celery seed. I’ve not used it in my life lol so didn’t really know. I’ll grab one if I see it, just in case :)

Latest pickup order from local Walmart went flawlessly BUT prices continue to rise.

Had to drop favorite brand of bacon, Hormel apple wood smoked because it's now $7.99 for 12 ounces.

Substituted Farmall at $5.49 for 16 ounces.

Part of order was NOT available from local store.
Walmart broke it up into 5 sperate suborders and so is shipping them to me

My favorite brand of chocolate bar has been out of stock for a month now. Ghirardelli.

Baltimore area Taco Bell was out of all things Steak on Sunday. They had chicken and beef. And as with everything else, prices have gone up. My standard, roughly once a month order, has gone up $2 since the last time I was there.

This isn't shopping but it sure as heck is a price increase. Our large pizza this evening with 3 toppings was 43.47 plus 5 tip. Almost 10 dollars more than a month ago.

A good local pizza shop has been sending out email coupons over the summer. $2 off medium, $3 off large. Priced up one of my favorites from them. With the $2 off, state/city tax, and a 15% tip it was just under $24 for what is basically a small pizza. Last I ordered was fall of 2019, same order, no coupon, plus a 2 liter diet cola would have been $17 and change plus tip. Yeah, I'm cheap, but I also don't trust what I may get for quality for some time now.

I can’t live without beef and meat, since I eat 80-90% carnivore. Thankfully, we bought a quarter cow from a local farmer that I just picked up yesterday. With processing, it came out to $5.80 a pound. As I was putting away all the steaks and roasts in the freezer, I saw a package of tenderloin. I’d wondered what the going rate is. I’m so grateful that we were able to do this. Beef eaters, consider this option if you’re wanting beef at a great price.
Did that last year before I got sick. Split it with BIL 50/50. Bet they are glad they listened to the crazy BIL now. :eye:

Apparently, never even knew about them until they were mentioned in this thread.

As for Orowheat Baking Company, if they weren't making money then my guess would be Bimbo bought them out for their recipes, which is pretty common in the food industry.
ORO had good products but expensive. Down here it was hit or miss whether or not anything was in stock. Just now starting to see Oro products back on the shelves.

I find this last year that the only way I get what I need is online. The stores are really a mess.

I don't use celery that often, so I don't buy it. When I do need celery, I use celery seed, instead. If there's a shortage, I guess I need to start looking for some. I only have one small bottle in storage.

Bulkfoods.com has celery seed in stock. $6.25 for a 1 lb bag. I usually get an order from them in just a few days.

Did an instacart order for 29 items. Just not seeing much shortage in S. Cal desert. Subbed reg cottage cheese for organic, named brand pepper jack for store and refunded the grapefruit.
There does seem to be a shortage of the cases of Crystal Geyser water. But had the Gallons. Biggest portion of items were over 5 bucks each. I'm very worried for families where this is headed.

When I could no longer wear my dentures, I had to stop eating celery, onion, etc. Onion and garlic powders are great, but there is no celery powder. Celery salt is way, way too salty. So I started growing my own celery and letting it bush out and get lots of leaves. I dehydrate those leaves and rub them into fine flakes that I can use to season anything that requires a celery flavor. There are lots of little stalks, as I don't bank the plants to make bunches. I give the stalks to my sister who cuts them up and freezes them in water for when she makes big pots of various kinds of soup.

Then I grew dill and dehydrated the leaves and rubbed them to a fine powder the same way when I could no longer use dill seed right in any food

Isn't there any Amish bulk stores near you? I buy almost all my spices there, all packaged in the neatest little plastic (tupperware type) container. Super cheap and since they sell so much it is always fresh.

Desperate times call for desperate actions.

Went to the Ghirardelli website and ordered a years supply. Total was high enough to qualify for free 3 day shipping and a 15 percent discount.

The net price was slightly cheaper then Walmart's.

Their chocolate keeps well in the refrigerator.

Serious prepping.

Went to Kroger today. I’ve haven’t been out of the house since Friday... if looked bad, as bad as I’ve seen the meat cases.

The ONLY bright spot was Tyson chicken breast family packs are on a great sale right bud, oddly enough, usually the packs are 10-13$.... they were all 5-8$! Supply was low, I grabbed three more for the freezer.

The restof meat cases? Well, I actually felt the most worried that I’ve been lately. I talked to main butcher whom we’ve become friendly with... he said as far as fresh meat cases back there, there will not be any more sales for quite awhile due to “economic issues” going on. Prices right now are as low as they’ll go. What you see is what you get.

He thinks turkeys and hams will arrive not until Nov 1. That’s late, for the season.
They had two hams, total, no turkeys at all.

In the soda aisle it was bad, if that’s what you want. Mainly for coke products. They only had TEN total, 2 liter diet Coke’s but still had a lot of the sugar stuff. None at all, of the plastic bottles in smaller size. None. We drink Diet Coke so I grabbed 3 of the two liters.

They’re were 12 pks of cans. Got one.

Many other drinks very low.
Pepsi didto be affected as bad,

Pork looked thin. Bacon was “so so” .
Lunch meats, thin.
Lots of holes.
Except I will say toilet paper looked good lol.
Frozen veggies picked over.
Yogurt, thin.

on a bright note I found that Vigo yellow rice to try but boy is that pricey for such a small bag! 1.99$. I got one anyway.
Pasta, picked over more than normal.

Other stuff that I’ll post if ibrememer

There is ground celery powder on Amazon, and I assume other places as well. This 8oz one is $13.27, but I've never tried ground celery powder so don't know if it is any good or not...

Went to the local WM this afternoon after work, boy howdy. A large amount of holes in grocery. Used to work at that store (six years) and so it's easy to spot outs (wm term for an empty space). My son and I hit every grocery aisle on purpose and we saw numerous places where there was either no product or a single facing, Prices are continuing to rise as well. Western OK
