Are you sure about that?
Normally I'd be inclined to agree with you, except - this time things are not normal

This nasty rat communist bastard of a virus, runs down to the bottom of your lungs. While there it signals to your immune system, "no big deal." Yeppers dude, actually informs your immune system to not be concerned (HIV component).

Now, super comfy - it replicates and in doing so slowly, industriously gains a phenomenal foothold in the lungs (not to mention traveling in uetro systemically). All the while, with every single breath, twins and cousins leaves your body.

The host (say you again in this example), finally declares an immune response. Never mind it's been three days to the better part of a month. "Oh Crap," says your system, "we're fooked~!"

So now finally, all defensive systems go into overdrive.

Your BP rises, vital passages inflame, snot flows with reckless abandon, relentless coughing ensues. The, "out of breath," feature kicks in.

Now what happens?

You - We need to motate, get out- go find help - Stat!

Perfect, a living host, by the will of the engineer of all this madness - seeks other possible candidates, more human hosts. First responders, neighbors, a cab driver, family doctor, son-in law, nurse Nancy, ...

- Trillions of RNA chop suey viral hell, beyond legion, are now on the move.

All they need is for a room for, 'just one', possible entrance. A finger tip, a shoe, a face mask, a bite of food, a single breath.

Replicate and repeat.

I hoped you would speak to this. As to testing, I just do not know where one would begin, with limited resources, to begin the widespread tests. We DO need them, if for no other reason than to give our numbers some real relationship to reality- which we cannot have without a sense of how many mild, moderate, and recovered cases walk amongst us without ever seeking care.

As a practical matter, I just do not know what else might be done this early on to best meet the needs of our populations.

ETA: I hope you're feeling better- this must be surreal to care for yourself and grandbabies while chasing this monster down digitally : (
As to your point about the lack of diagnosed cases, and how many must be out there- do you not also draw some hope from that? We might hide or not know diagnosis, but I do not think in America we could miss a large die off, and that simply is not happening here, at this point. Even though we've had time enough to start hearing the rumbles, were such a thing occurring...
The grandchildren recovered quickly, so it must be the regular flu. Today is a school holiday, so I have had several days to recover and am not scheduled to see them again until Wednesday. Have had plenty of time to sleep. I think my flu is complicated by allergies. My car is covered in pollen and I noticed the dreaded white trees that really hit me are in bloom. I have my room sized air purifiers running. Thanks for your kind thoughts.

To add to my post on disasters, under the mutual assistance, ICS (Incident Command System,) and NIMS (National Incident Management System) a local government can also call in actual regional, state and federal physical assistance if overwhelmed.

In this particular case, a national emergency has already been called, so I imagine there are protocols in place to draw federal resources/money.

Another coronavirus patient has been identified in the United States

A 13th person in the United States has tested positive for the Wuhan coronavirus, a spokesman for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

The patient arrived in the US last week at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on a flight from Wuhan and has been held at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center.

No further details on the patient’s condition were provided.

The patient is the seventh person in California who has contracted the virus. Others have been confirmed in Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Washington state and Wisconsin.

On the other side of the debate...

excerpt;
Weaknesses in current production methods
In the executive order, President Trump emphasized that each year, flu vaccines prevent millions of illnesses and thousands of deaths. It also acknowledged that a deadly flu pandemic could inflict trillions of dollars of damage on the economy.

"Unfortunately, many of the vaccines we use today are produced overseas, using time-consuming, egg-based technology, which limits their effectiveness and makes production too slow to effectively combat a potential deadly influenza pandemic," the White House said in a statement.

This is common. Without a champion to carry the banner of preparing for an emergency that could happen once every few decades, the prep. budget is an easy target for an Administration that serves only 2 terms.

I carried the banner during my 3 terms on the county level, but I know that there was no champion on that board to do so after me. Luckily, the public health budget is separate from the General Fund as it is comprised of contracts and grants. The EOC budget, however, was not.

USPS must stop all air freight to USA from China. Remember it only costs $2.90 to send up to 4 pounds by air via usps.

Very sad news.

Dr. Niman believes it is to late to contain 2019-nCoV to China.

It has seeded globally.

Pride comes before the fall.....Pride month ended.
Not to derail, but to offer some ties, concerns. Just a few days ago Russia publicly stated that the US was behind this coronavirus, it was an intentional act. Now China's government has picked up the same story and is pushing this narrative on the Chinese people. This looks to me like it is more than likely to end with nukes, lots of them.

Peace peace, and then sudden destruction. This set of dominoe's is lined up, and won't take but a 4.5 quake to knock one over, and consider how many 4.5's have been popping. I would highly suggest one consider this nuclear narrative as an outcome in one's efforts to shore up.
As of the today, the US responds. They have stated four Chinese hacker spies did major damage and are guilty of espionage, etc........ The spies are in China. Interesting timing for a long term investigation. tit for tat, back and forth. Who's gonna comeback now...escalation is in progress. Beware the ides of March......soon to be upon us.

We need a poll, will there be a march madness tournament?

Um, it looks like Trudeau junior is still going all out for the whole multi culture thing a ma jig. He is now going to Africa for a meeting. I mean just how stupid can you be? I guess we will find out soon enough if Africa has infected Chinese or Africans in it. The African Union is a lapdog for the Chinese. He goes to a restaurant to eat?

Canadian Prime Minister Visits Ethiopia For African Union Summit
OAN Newsroom
UPDATED 7:42 AM PT — Monday, February 10, 2020

Canada’s prime minister recently visited Ethiopia as part of his administration’s effort to boost trade between the two countries. On Sunday, Justin Trudeau met with the president of Ethiopia as well as female entrepreneurs who shared ideas of bringing foreign currency into the country.
Prime Minister Trudeau pointed out that Ethiopia is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. He then proposed an investment of $10 million to help empower African women.

6th Virginia, 2nd Maryland patients test negative for coronavirus

White protective sterile face masks on vintage wooden board.

The results of the latest patients being tested in Virginia and Maryland for possible cases of the new coronavirus infection have tested negative.
The states’ health departments indicated the results on their websites Monday.
Five other patients in Virginia have been cleared of the virus. One other person in Maryland was tested a few weeks ago, and that patient has been cleared, as well.
In D.C., four patients have been cleared, and one case is still pending, according to the D.C. health department’s website as of Monday.

There have been no confirmed cases of the virus in the D.C., Maryland or Virginia.

Patients are tested for the coronavirus when they are sick and have been determined by their doctor to have either been in contact with someone who has the virus, or has traveled to an area where the virus has hit.

The little-understood coronavirus has killed some 900 people in China, where the outbreak hit the hardest. It has also spread panic and anger around the world as the cases grow.

China reported more than 40,000 cases as of Monday.

Canada now has six confirmed cases, and in the U.S., there are 12.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has advised that the best way to protect yourself from this virus is the same way you’d protect yourself against any virus:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Follow the CDC on Twitter for the latest announcements on the outbreak.

Hmm, well the thing with all these feel good stories is when you balance them with stories from people who KNOW what they are talking about saying the opposite. Here we go in Great Britain, where it is lock and load. When the guy who discovered Ebola says the Crown Virus is going to kick Britain's ass, well that settles it for me.

Scientist Who Discovered Ebola: Britain Faces ‘Major’ Coronavirus Outbreak

The United Kingdom is facing a “major outbreak” of the deadly coronavirus, warns the scientist who co-discovered the Ebola virus in Africa.

As the death toll for the coronavirus officially surpasses that of the SARS outbreak in 2003, the director of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Peter Piot, said that he is “increasingly alarmed” by the rapidly spreading virus, saying that it is a “greater threat” than Ebola.

“It’s a greater threat because of the mode of transmission. The potential for spread is much, much higher. If the number of people who get infected is huge, then that will also kill a number of people”, Piot told The Times.
“In today’s world, no epidemic remains just a local affair. What happens thousands and thousands of miles from here in China has the potential of causing a major outbreak here”, warned the professor.
Mr Piot said that he is concerned about the capability of Britain’s socialised medical system, the National Health Service (NHS), to cope with an outbreak of the virus.

Lots of speculation about if this is a bioweapon or not. Most of this is associated with the apparent rate of infection and reported positives in the west vs. china. More specifically, is there an ethnic predisposition to this virus?

1. Is there a physiological difference in Asian populations vs. White vs. Black? Only a few studies have asked the question and those are very small sample sizes but there DOES appear to be contemporary data that there may be.

2. Is there a genetic difference in the regions most effected that could lend itself to a possible biological target? Yes, there is. Very complex topic but here is the gist. Segments of human DNA tend to be very stable and are associated with certain populations. Changes in this stable segment can produce hereditary diseases. Sickle cell anemia and thalassemias are changes in the very stable hemoglobin. It changes the function of the hemoglobin and has associated problems. Both mutations are much more common in African and mediterranean ethnic groups. Ethnic groups themselves have a haplogroup. For instance, this is haplogroup O-M175. Something that could target this haplotype could, in theory, target a specific ethnic group while leaving the others with either partial immunity or much reduced symptoms. This would have the effect of appearing to have multiple different "strains".

View attachment 182434

3. Is there technology to do this? Yes. Absolutely. CRISPR technology uses RNA editing technologies and could, in theory , be used to create specific targeted viruses. Here is an article about the technology from just this last week:

4. The technology is there, but how else is it used? It is used in something called Genetic Drive technology. Basically, you can insert a gene into a living cell that is ALWAYS passed along to future generations arising from that cell. On a macroscale you could change it slowly, over time, an entire targeted population could be rendered sterile, or have a terminal illness through gene editing. This has already been attempted with mosquitos. Bill and Melinda Gates have invested 75 million in the technology.

5. Is there any indication that this technology may be used as a biological weapon? Possibly. Because of the nature of some governments finding informatio is much more difficult. Certainly research has been done in the U.S. It doesn't take much to read how this could be used for "non-beneficial" means by any nationstate with a necessary technological capacity.

*****READ THIS*****

6. Has there been any other relevant stories? Thats a subjective question, but yes. Most notably from August where USAMRIID, the military bioweapons research facility, was essentially shut down by the CDC for "failing to meet biosafety standards.

Possible virus packages? DARPA Funded.

Pentagon funded in Khazakstan bioweapons lab?

Wuhan virology with ties to USAMRIID

TAKEAWAYS:

I don't know if this is a weapon or not. We may not ever know. I do know the technology exists. I do know that the US has conducted research and is capable of producing a targeted weapon of this type. My suspicions are that China may not have the sophistication at this point, but that likely Russia, Israel, and perhaps a few other European countries do.

Hopefully not too much woo...just trying to learn.

Thank you so much for this! When people were saying there was no way to target a particular ethnic population, Thalassaemia, sickle cell etc, immediately jumped to my mind. I'm white as the driven snow and English as a cup of tea, however my mother, her mother and numerous uncles and cousins were all diagnosed with Thalassaemia. My grandmother was the first to be diagnosed. She was in her seventies and, receiving iron injections every month. She was getting sicker and sicker. Our village doc was from India and got the notion to test her for the disease, even though it was highly unlikely that she would have it. But sure enough, she did. Apparently, there is a small group of native Britons in the North West of England and Ireland that have it. I imagine we all have a common ancestor.

Some info:

Getting back to the virus. If it is the case that it has been targeted, intentionally or not, to this particular population, it's now even more of a worry for me, my son and my extended family back in England. :( Not wishing this virus on anyone, but it will be interesting to see how severely it will affect those in Sardinia and other places in the Med. May give us even more reason to believe that this was manufactured! Very concerning.

Thank you for answering my question about Thyroid meds btw!

I've been saying from Day One that Pres Trump is not getting the true story of this virus and is getting his updates from CDC and WHO officials who we know are downplaying it. This (sorry to say) cavalier dismissive statement he made proves it. If he had the knowledge we on this thread have he'd never make this comment. And, personal opinion, I do believe some of this is deliberate and deep state plants attempt to sabotage him because all fingers will point to him for not doing anything in time, for cutting budgets, etc.

Trump says Coronavirus will be gone by April when the weather gets warmer

The president continued to suggest the Coronavirus outbreak, which has claimed 1,000 lives as of Monday, will be gone by April. He told the crowd that "in theory" once the weather warms up Coronavirus, which he referred to as "the virus," will "miraculously" go away. Trump did not offer any scientific explanation to back up his claim.

"I think it's all gonna work out fine," he said. "Rough stuff, rough stuff."

Trump echoed that claim during a speech to governors at the White House earlier on Monday, telling the group that China had given him the confidence that the outbreak would subside in Apri due to "the heat."

“The heat generally speaking kills this kind of virus,” he said.

Trump Says Coronavirus Will Subside In Spring, But Doctors Aren’t So Sure
Infectious disease experts warn that we know too little about the outbreak to say it will slow down with warmer weather.

President Donald Trump said Monday that he expected the coronavirus epidemic to disappear with the end of winter ― a remark at odds with warnings from infectious disease experts.

Trump’s comments on the virus known as 2019-nCoV, which has infected more than 42,000 people globally and claimed more than 1,000 lives, came during a White House business session with state governors.

“A lot of people think that goes away in April as the heat comes in,” he said of the outbreak that began in the Chinese city of Wuhan. “Typically that will go away in April. We’re in great shape though. We have 12 cases, 11 cases, and many of them are in good shape.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have confirmed 12 coronavirus infections in the U.S., and testing is pending on 68 other potential cases.

The president’s remarks set off some concern that he didn’t have a solid understanding of the threat at hand.

“This statement minimizes the many critical factors needed for the containment of the outbreak and the prevention of further disease spread, such as adequate infection control measures and contact tracing,” Dr. Britta Lassmann, program director for the International Society for Infectious Diseases, told HuffPost.

“Data on the role of temperature and climate on the transmissibility of 2019-nCoV are currently lacking,” she added.

Trump’s suggestion that the coronavirus outbreak will subside with the onset of warmer temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere is likely based on general trends with viral infections: They often thrive in the colder months because people are spending more time indoors in close proximity to others and because lower humidity in winter allows a virus to remain in the air for longer periods of time.

But Trump’s rosy outlook is also risky because not all outbreaks subside as the weather warms, and this one remains shrouded in mystery on several fronts. So far, there’s no vaccine and no conclusions on how it spreads, how to cure it or how long it takes for an infected person to show symptoms. It’s already surpassed milestones set by other disease outbreaks, including the death toll of the SARS outbreak 17 years ago.

“Although some coronavirus infections are seasonal, only time will tell if the 2019 novel coronavirus will behave this way. Some coronavirus species have peaks in the winter and summer,” said Dr. Tom Frieden, former director of the CDC and now president and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives, an initiative focused on preventing epidemics.

Weather’s impact on a disease’s spread, he added, can vary by climate.

“If nCov behaves as influenza behaves, the seasonality seen in temporal climates may not mean seasonality in tropical climates, where influenza can circulate at high levels all year long,” Frieden explained.

Dr. William Schaffner, a professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has also warned about this virus’s unpredictability. Before Trump even made his comments, Schaffner cautioned against relying on the expectation that new infections will slow with spring.

“Could it be that the change of seasons has an impact on the virus? Lord knows, we hope so,” he told USA Today last week. “It happens with human coronaviruses, we know that. But this is a rogue virus.”

I fear Trump is being misled by his so called "medical experts." His "gone by April," may go down like Bush junior and his "mission accomplished," or Chamberlain's "Peace in our time," or that fool who said the stock market couldn't go down. Baghdad Bob anybody? Yep, Trump has staked his whole regime on the economy, and it is about to get JIT'd into mush. Whatever the virus does medically, it is going to starve the global economy of desperately needed materials. We have talked a lot about stuff made in China, but we haven't realized that a lot of stuff now sourced in other countries is "sourced in China," or "assembled in the USA from overseas materials," and they have a thousand phrases like that which mean no China and no product.

I'm sorry to say I agree 100%. I wish it weren't so but this has been a problem for him throughout his first term - trusting the wrong people, a lot of whom are deep state plants who deliberately keep things from him to make him look bad (they don't only leak, they shield him from things he needs to know). The good news is Steve Bannon is on top of this and if he's read or heard about this ridiculous statement from POTUS, may still have a way to call him and set him straight (if KellyAnn doesn't block the call... don't trust her one bit but that's for a different thread).

Pride comes before the fall.....Pride month ended.
Steve Bannon should have his ear, and he knows. What's going on? This will not last. But then again, perhaps, he's setting another trap to suck in the deep staters who mislead him here. What could be more horrific to the country, then fake news slash information from your top advisors.......nail them to the wall, and give a two second countdown.

State Health Laboratory to begin testing for novel coronavirus
Hawaii News Now

By Jim Mendoza | February 7, 2020 at 9:48 PM HST - Updated February 7 at 9:48 PM
HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The State Department of Health said beginning next week Hawaii should be able to test for coronavirus at the State Laboratory in Pearl City.
That’s important because it will significantly speed up turnaround time. Test results from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta can take a week or longer.
“We need to be able to diagnose a case quickly and accurately if we’re going to be taking appropriate preventive actions. So the sooner we can get results the better,” State Health Director Bruce Anderson said.
The CDC is distributing 200 test kits to labs around the country. Hawaii is getting one of them.
"As epidemic spreads across the world there eventually could be people that come into the state of Hawaii that are more at risk," Lt. Gov. Josh Green said.
The tests will be used on patients who may have been exposed to the deadly virus and who are displaying symptoms. Swabs from their mucus membranes will be sent to the lab.
"The tests actually look for DNA of the virus itself," Anderson said.

On another front, there’s been a buying spree on surgical masks to wear or to send to China.
Don Quijote on Kaheka Street and other department stores report being out of surgical masks, hand sanitizers and some disinfectants.
"If you are sick and you want to wear a mask that's fine. Really the best advice is if you're sick don't go to work. Don't go to school. Stay home and away from people," Green said.
Right now seven people in Hawaii are quarantined at home because they had some contact with people from China.
“These are asymptomatic individuals. It’s very unlikely that they are either going to get sick or have the coronavirus,” Green said.
As for the test kits, one kit can test about 800 patient specimens.
"They say they will get us additional kits if we need them in the future," Anderson said.

He said Hawaii is also offering to run tests on samples from Guam and American Samoa.

TAIPEI, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Taiwan's government on Tuesday raised its travel warning for the new coronavirus, advising people not to visit Hong Kong or Macau unless they have to, and to take precautions if going to Singapore or Thailand.

Numbers

Everyone watching this thread and topic, must with certainty understand - - - there are absolutely NO accurate numbers.

Liars figure and figures lie.

Aside from the bat an rat eating co--suers, all reporting bodies have a vested interest in what you believe.

More so, in how you act.

Saying, just because - anytime someone makes a statement utilizing the figures presented by CCP - I inwardly and sometimes reflexively out-loud groan. What a wok of fish sauce!

The WHO, the CDC, the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, anyone! I simply testify to understand, no one, is going to give me -
the Gods _Honest_Truth!

Wow is that ever messed up or what?

So, to conclude; any charts, tables, graphics, and graphs, are mostly lost on me.

Asks you, "what about photo's, videos and the like?"

Sadly, the veracity of all the formerly almost indisputable, is now also suspect.

Seems as though any whiz with a desktop and a cellphone, can a viable reality be made.

Well there we are, down to the fork in the road.

Me - I'm headed to Boulder. Can't tolerate heat any longer. Never cared for Los Vegas anyway.

Reuters: The ruling Communist Party's propaganda department last week ordered state media to focus on "economic recovery", according to a person with direct knowledge of the order, who declined to be named because of the sensitivity of the situation.

An illustration provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in January 2020 shows the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Hawaii health officials are now monitoring 26 people who have been in China in the last 14 days for the coronavirus.

The Centers for Disease Control has notified state health officials that a Hawaii resident who visited Hubei Province in China has returned home, and will be quarantined for 14 days at Pearl Harbor.

The resident is healthy and has been cooperating with health officials while in mandatory quarantine at the Honolulu airport. The resident will be transported to Pearl Harbor today.

In addition, state health officials are now monitoring 26 people who have been in China in the last 14 days for coronavirus.
While there are no confirmed Hawaii cases of the disease that has killed more than 900 — nearly 100 deaths just in the past 24 hours — in China, the more than two dozen people are in “self-quarantine” under public health supervision, meaning Department of Health workers are calling, texting or videoconferencing the individuals several times a day, and may be spot-checking to ensure they are staying away from the public.

The individuals do not have any symptoms and no tests have had to be conducted, said Lt. Gov. Josh Green, who is acting governor this week while Gov. David Ige attends the National Governors Association.

In addition, any travelers who have been to Hubei province, the epicenter of the outbreak in China, within the last two weeks or are considered high-risk are required to be quarantined in dorm rooms at a facility on the military base at Pearl Harbor for 14 days.

Meanwhile, two asylum seekers from China trying to flee from the deadly virus, also known as 2019-nCoV, were taken into custody at the airport by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after trying to enter Hawaii.

Honolulu is one of 11 airports where all flights to the U.S. from China will be funneled, though direct flights from China to Hawaii have been suspended.

The U.S. declared a public health emergency due to the outbreak in China, placing a temporary ban on foreign nationals who recently traveled to the country — other than immediate family of U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
