thank you so much for the new chapter - read it last night but did not take time to write you sooner - been trying to keep up on the VT mess - and mess it is - have we really trained our kids to be willing victims and not fight back - very sad :shk:

nannygoat: The interesting thing is I was talking to a checker at the Grocery Store who admitted she didn't like guns. This is like admitting you're Gay at a Southern Baptist Convention if you're from Rural NV!

Anyway, she told me she asked her husband to take her shooting this weekend and she was asking me about how to get her CCW!

Some of the Sheeple might be waking up!

This is just as good as it was the first time I read it. Really enjoying reading it here. :D See, that way I can only read a few chapters at a time instead of sitting down and reading the whole thing! I can get a few other things done that way....well sometimes!

TOM: OK if I write you into Renniassance Man?

Trust me, you'll love it!

Re: New Chapters - Patience Grasshopper! :D

Why not, be my guest. You already have the 3 amigos in this story. A person can get all the way to extra class with the study guides, the only problem is the stinking code.

TOM: Code used to be a problem - now the Code requirement has been dropped.

I'm going to take my General this Summer.

Thanks for the chapter.

Another dumb question. " Bear laughed and said that his crystal ball was in the shop, but if he were Ralph, he’d get fully certified in Ham radio ASAP, since it was easier to use CW on some of the HF frequencies." What is CW?

Fleataxi

Deceased
Larry: CW is continuous wave aka Morse code. If conditions aren't ideal, CW might work were there is too much noise to use SSB (Single Side Band) and voice to make contact.

the only "dumb question" is the one you're too afraid to ask. Part of the reason I write is to educate, so ask away!

Thanks. Morse code I used to actually know a little.
I realize story is written (can't wait till you post next chapter)
Question (again) why give them class III and explosives? Ralph asked for compact weapon for his travler. For most uses a semi auto (legal) will (handle) 95% of situations a full auto might. Too great a chance of him getting into accident, truck stolen/stripped for parts, searched going thru Canada for example, etc. Heck with children they telling someone. Plus if he thinks its hard to practice pistol shooting try class III (thats not legal)
I like the idea of cover outside (also stops/slows incomming) adn maybe incorperate some explosives into planters. (outside face incase attackers use them as cover) much less chance of detection.
At most class III stuff in hidden vault at the home but not in trucks.

LM: The Class III stuff is in the same high-security case as a doctor's bag full of DEA restricted narcotics. He's more worried about losing the narcotics than the FA weapon as a doctor, since if he loses narcotics due to his negligence, he can lose his license.

Trust me, the case is secure. He's also got a P-14 pistol where he can get it - the M-4 and the grenade launcher is in case he REALLY needs it.

George has already trained Sam and Ralph in how to use military weapons as part of their training, Just having the M-203 is worth 20 years per round, so the M-4 isn't much of a extra charge!

The whole case is designed for situations that the P-14's can't get them out of - then you'll want as much firepower as you can muster, even if it's illegal!

Guys: What's the deal here? 3 days after I post a couple of tear-jerker chapters and not even 1 comment, but over 100 reads?

You guys trying to tell me something? :shr:

gee - I thought you were getting tired of my postings - love the chapters - drool over what money and knowledge can buy - dream dream :rdog:

nannygoat: What did you think about Sam & Ralph - I was hoping for some reaction to that event. :shr:

I never get tired reading comments, it means you still care about the story and the characters. It's kind of hard to get motivated if you don't think your audience cares anymore.

Cant get much better than this! Just waiting to read more. Is the story already written and you post a chapter at a time or are you posting as it gets written?
Its about time for somekind of attack or TSHTF, Dontcha think?;)

BTW, The general ham test is easy. I got my upgrade last month. Take it and dont put it off.

Keep up the good work,

wab: I wrote this story almost 2 years ago and posted it on Frugal's as it was written. Dennis was nice enough to let me post my stories over here for TB2K members that don't belong to Frugal's to read them here.

I've written over 25 stories (average length over 200 pages per story), and combined them with my friend Tired Old Man's 50 stories on 1 CD that we're selling to TB2K members for $30 plus $5 shipping and handling. 10% of the proceeds will go to TB2K as a gift from TOM and I to help offset site costs. If you want a copy PM me for details.

And that CD is well worth the money...And I quit commenting too cuz I thought you would get tired of reading them from someone who has read this great story before. :D

Amazing, Simply Amazing

Hi Fleataxi:

I'm so glad that Dennis allowed you to post your stories here. (I'm relatively new to Frugal's and visit TB2K more often). I've read them all here, and am constantly amazed at the level of detail of your sagas. I look forward to each new story installment.

It's funny, when first reading your story, I had another screen open with maps.google.com just to find out where the heck Allakaket was! Learned alot about Alaska reading your stories. :p

Not sure of the level of "feedback" you appreciate. (I often betaread fanfic stories for friends). But in the paragraph before Chapter 57, you said "Ron" when I believe you meant "Ralph".

I'd be very interested in the story CD. Will PM you with request.

Thanks for a great job on your stories. I look forward to reading much more!

HTS: Thanks - I've done that once or twice!

Feel free to comment as much or as little as you want. If you're going give me a hard review, please PM it so everyone else doesn't know I'm a Complete Idiot - I've got them buffaloed for now! :D

Allakaket actually exists, but it's a crumby little Indian fishing village in real life above the Artic Circle. HelpMeJack Lake really is just north of Allakaket.

I omitted some pertinent details, however, That part of Alaska has mosquitos and biting flies that will drive you nuts 6 months out of the year, and the other 6 are so cold you start wishing for the mosquitos again!

talk about making money everytime they think of something - must be nice - the old - it takes money to make money - thanks again for a new chapter - and yes I am enjoying the Sam/Ralph addition - I can not imagine living where it is -40 but heck I use to live where it would reach 127 some summers so it is I guess just a matter of adjustment and good insulation and sense ;)

Thanks for the new chapters. I'm almost afraid to comment about Sam...it seems she has been close to leaving us two times.
I was intrigued when Ron told Ralph not to shoot at any wolves....and with the latest chapters I see why. I had been hoping to learn that there would be another "furkid" in the story.:fprt:

Bamma: Thanks! I let a friend of mine who's wife went through a miscarriage (didn't know it at the time) and he said I was a little too close to the truth for comfort the way I wrote it.

As far as the Furkid, I just had to write Oliver II into the story! At the time, my dog that I'd based Oliver on was getting elderly, and I knew she was going to die soon, so I decided to write in another Oliver while I had the chance. If you want to see Georgette's picture, here's the link: http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/showthread.php?t=221382

Any chance for another chapter? I liked how Ralph and Sam finally (worked) their way up there. You didn't mention (that I recall) them hauling the (goodies) from their first home in Alaska. (class III, gernades/etc) Or did they leave a secred (cache) at Ankorage?

Can't wait to find out what happens next.

lm: You must have missed the big u-haul trailer they hauled behind their Suburban to Elmendorf, where their Super Stallion picked up their Suburban and Scout on a vehicle transporting platform as a sling load, and the U-haul squeezed inside the rear hatch. They left their furnishings in the old house, and bought new.

I'll put up some new chapters today or early tomorrow.

Again thanks for the new chapters.....this story has become my week-end reading.
I noticed one mistake....Chap. 70..,"the sargeant came up to Ron" not Josh, to pin on the snow cone.
And, as usual, can't wait to read some more.

Thanks for a (quiet) wedding. :) That would be a long flight (plenty of chances for mile high club) It kinda was a disapointement with family history/background having sex before marriage. (the SEAL bar fly was one thing) This gal made it clear she wanted to jump him (private dive site/sleeping together and no PJs)
Would anyone be so STUPID as to take gal into bed area on plane with her PARENTS and family aboard??? :(
I do hope they move back up North after she finishes schooling. (Annies babysitting service still in business?)

Thanks for the new chapters.
You must type quickly because you left the 'h' out of where twice. (Sorry!) Keep the chapters coming and I'll be quiet from now on.

bamma: Nope it's those stupid cheap word processors with their non-contextual spell checkers that let the wrong word spelled correctly through all the time.

You figure Bill Gates with all his millions could afford to put a contextual spell-checker in his word processing software? :shr:
