Well I LOVE the story. I am NOT a pilot but due to story can easily understand situations/terms. I KNOW the characters from first two. When Jim died I dang near cried. I think a lot of story line while driving or doing other (automatic) activities. Such as (If at that age stranded with hot babe who wanted to conserve body heat what I would have done)
Heck the only (error) is when going after Nukes they didn't send a couple security folk to stay on surface. And have him wait for choppers before leaving. (at least leave some firepower to protect nukes)
Otherwise I can visualize dang near EVERYTHING he has done.

Larry: Normally you're right, but if you read the story again, the NEST team was TAD elsewhere for training, and they were the closest military personnel that could effectively and reasonably safely disarm the nukes, which is their first priority. Once they had the nukes on the surface and disarmed, Bear had Ron call for the Extraction Team when he called the # and reqested the help for the 2 Repaired Arrows and the Repairmen. Elmendorf probably flew in a Security Team they had on Standby for the All-Clear call. No sense risking the security team's lives with 2 active nuclear bombs. Remember they're so remote that they had to shanghai Ron and his amphibian just to get to where the plane went down.

Yep I reacal the NEST team was out of position. Thing is when you are diving you have no control over what is going on topside. (can you say totally defenseless) I thought the turbogoose had room/payload for two more security folks and basic weapons. (they don't have to know how to dive/handle nukes just protect area while they bring them up and until they return them to base.
After all they did discuss a "Broken Arrow" over a unsecured cell phone, plus all activity at base before they picked up dive/disarming gear. The chance to get ahold of TWO live nukes....
Dang you are right this is nit picking. I just kinda wanted BEAR to get permission to use the Super Stalion (with its mini guns in place) to provide security during retrevial. :) :) Heck eveyone on crew is former Military as well.

I LOVE the idea of choppers with teeth. Any chance his personal Goose will get any (extras) :)

I feel like I am a broken record but I am really enjoying this story - it is like what I wish I could do for a town etc if I had enough money and a bit of power to do things - interesting ideas if money was not a problem and it shows how it might occur but of course it still shows the old takes money to really make money and alot of luck

thanks again for a new chapter - on this cool very rainy, windy blowing day it was so nice to have a new chapter to read - thanks:kiss:

I agree with nannygoat. I'm really enjoying the chapters. Was surprised to see that you had more added. Thanks. (And now I'd better get busy with work.)

sooo nice to open up tb2k tonight and finding a new chapter - sounds like it is going to get even more interesting - as if Ron's life hasn't always being a bit interesting - thanks again for the good story

Thanks for new chapter. You scared me when you hit the "many yrs later they went to cabin" (something like that) I though you were going to quicly (wrap up) the story. I dislike (hate) when a great involved story with lots of possibilities gets (wrapped up) in 3 paragraphs.
Dang but they have equipment up there. I do have to admit I must never have gone to places on base in Tampa where folks being armed was normal. :)

lm: Part of the base at MacDill is a regular AF Base, part is SF complex. Unless you're authorized, you probably couldn't get too close to the JSOC complex.

That's where all the people with guns (besides the Air Police) are! SEALS are one of the few sailors that are supposed to be armed 24/7. I'm sure DELTA and other SF commands are the same way.

Ralph and Ron

Fleataxi, I saw a few places where I think you meant to say "Ralph" instead of "Ron".
These were found in Chapter 35.

Ron saw a blued revolver pointed shakily

Ron holstered his gun and they checked out the call for help. A woman was lying on the ground next to a Crown Vic, and her husband was in a wheelchair next to her. Ron found out he was

The coroner and a photographer showed up, and Ron explained he had kicked the revolver over to

You're welcome

You're Welcome Fleataxi,
I've found myself doing the same thing when I write. For some reason, when I write - even when something is obviously wrong, I sometimes miss it. I'll proofread like crazy and think a paper is perfect, and print out a copy and there something is - glaring out at me. This is usually after I have handed in a copy too! Never fails!

At school, I drive my students nuts, making them proofread. We're doing research papers now, and I'm just about crazy from trying to get them to organize and write the thing according to MLA format! I don't know who it is tougher on - them - or me! I think - ME! LOL!

BTW, I'm really enjoying this story!

Jenncw: You know I really should do a better job proofreading, My dad's a retired High School English teacher with a Masters in English and Music from Harvard.

When I was in school, he'd make me re-write my research papers until they were PERFECT, and this was in the days before PC's and printers!

I think most folks figured it out fairly quickly. Thanks for the chapter. You really drive home having the (better half) taking care of trouble while you (distract) them.

hard work

Fleataxi, I think all of your hard work, and your dad's LOL, definitely paid off. You are a great writer. I love to read your stories.

larry: That's how most defensive shooting instructors teach. If the BG's fixated on one of you, the other better be drawing their weapon while they have a chance, and end the threat.

Actually I was kinda "joking" about him "distracting" the bg by shooting him twice so his wife could stop him. (bg) :)
You had it twice. The husband shoots (distracts) the threat but the wife has to STOP them before threat harms anyone. :)
What can I say I am (impatinetly) waiting for next chapter.

TOM: I replied to your e-mail, but I'll repeat it here. If you're using rigid Kydex mag carriers, the double-carriers usually connect to the belt with a rivet between the pouches, creating a fulcrum. The first mag pulls cleanly, but the second mag usually doesn't. Several gun writers have theorized it's due to the fulcrum allowing the mag carrier to twist and bind on the magazine. With a single-mag carrier, there's no fulcrum to twist against, and the mags come out cleanly.

Speed loaders don't experience this effect since the speedloader is relatively short and squat compared to a high-cap magazine.

Larry:

I'll post two more chapters right now - so you won't go into withdrawals! :D

Thanks for new chapter. A slight mistake. "All he had tomorrow was a dog and pony show for a junior condel." I still think the Gooses (geese?) need some 007 mods. :)

LM: An armed Goose can't get a FAA cert to fly commercial, it's considered a Military Aircraft.

The "Dog and pony" thing has been already gone over. A Dog and Pony show is a canned presentation for VIP's. They derisively call them "dog and Pony" shows since it wastes the CO's time babysitting a Congressional Delegation, or Condel for short. A Dog and pony show for a Junior condel could easily be handled by a junior officer since they're probably first-year congresscritters without much power or influence compared to a senior congresscritter.

Sorry I was not clear. I put entire sentence in for ease in locating mistake. " junior condel. was the spelling error. I very much know the various "dog and pony" shows. (even have less polite terms for them)
Now quit reading comments and post next chapter. (Please) :)

LM: Everyone's a critic.

Condel is a commonly used Military contraction for Congressional Delelgation. The military just loves acronyms! :D

I'll get right on posting the new chapters as soon as I answer your comments/questions! :D

Nannygoat: You're welcome! :D

Thanks for the chapter. It is kinda stupid way to attempt to kill someone. They had no way of knowing which plane he would fly, where he would use auto Pilot 5th time. Plus he already lost them the money. (sad part is I can believe it happening) :(
Instead of being happy. That Ron (jointly) came up with idea of the Goose, got the updated engines considered, the market for a improved goose, and business for airline company that still made $$$ per EVERY copy they made. With much less work then starting from scratch.
A smart CEO would THANK Ron for idea, proving it, getting engine maker to build newer/better engine. (few people in business think of good others do for them)
I still would arm the goose. (after it is checked over in extream detail) Heck just a ECM, flare system at least. (maybe add a balistic parachute) :) Say a droug chue with space blanket/flare?

Thanks, you seem to be the only person commenting regularly!

I really can't change anything since the story (and the sequels) have already been written over a year ago. I'm posting them here for the enjoyment of the TB2K Members that weren't able to read it at the other forum.

I'll post a couple more chapters today.

I'm still working on Reniassance Man, and might post another chapter later this month. My productivity has slowed WAY down for some reason, and it's harder to write - not as much fun as it used to be when TOM and I were trying to outdo each other seeing who could post more pages per day. He won by a landslide!:D

I'm up to my eyeballs in aligators trying to do research for 3-4 stories I'm trying to write/finish.

If anyone has some really good info about scuba diving in Hawaii (besides Maui, I've got tons of info on Maui dive sites) especially good underwater and scenic pictures of the dive sites, I'd really appreciate it! I can find plenty of websites, but they all want you to "buy my book" to get the info, which ususally turns out to be recycled stock photography from the same 1 or 2 divers.

I was not suggesting you change anything. I just ment it was too (real) People who kill (or try to) normally do it for STUPID reasons.
Rather then realize the NEW business (and profit) they got they attack him AFTER the harm was done.
I was looking for new chapter you mentioned.........

Larry: Just posted - probably right before you posted!

Greed does some strange things to people. My theory was his need for revenge for the "lost" $300 Million outweighed his sense, and he came up with a way that he might kill Ron Williams and get away with it. He had a 1-5 chance that Ron would be flying that plane. In a long over-water flight, odds are the autopilot would be switched on and off at least 5 times.

If he'd have done something more direct, like having him shot or run over, it might be harder to get away with it.

Anyway, right or wrong, that was my thinking behind it.
