BUSH ANGER: OBAMA AIDES LEAK CHAT DETAILS
Tue Nov 11 2008 09:28:10 ET

Just hours after President Bush and President-elect Obama met in the Oval Office of the White House, details of their confidential conversation began leaking out to the press, igniting anger from the president, sources claim.

"Senator Obama would be wise to keep close counsel," a top Bush source warned.

"BUSH AND OBAMA AT ODDS OVER AID FOR AUTO INDUSTRY," splashed the NEW YORK TIMES in an exclusive Monday evening, quoting "people familiar with the discussion."

The two met at the White House in private, without staff.

"Bush indicated at the meeting that he might support some aid and a broader economic stimulus package if Obama and congressional Democrats dropped their opposition to a free-trade agreement with Colombia," claimed the TIMES.

The ASSOCIATED PRESS quickly followed with details of the conversation, citing "aides who described the discussion on grounds of anonymity, citing the private nature of the meeting."

Bush advisers view the leaks as an effort to undermine the president's remaining days in office.

"Senator Obama may not be familiar with a long-standing tradition of presidents holding their private conversations, private," a senior adviser explained to the DRUDGE REPORT.

Yep. That '52' crowd sure picked a winner!

Okay, so far we have the "PRESIDENT ELECT" smearing a former First Lady in his first press conference. Now, he's leaking confidential info after his first private meeting with a sitting POTUS. Oh! And how could I forget - he's had to cleanse his change website because once the people got a look at it, they HATED what they saw! Wow - "The One We Have Been Waiting For" is off to a rollicking start!

Oh yes. The next four years are going to be a HOOT!!!!

We might as well have an open-press meeting then when all of the Presidential secrets are revealed.....

Stunningly stupid.

The end times are here.
IF Obama makes it into the Whitehouse, I predict he will fail miserably. The poor judgment already shown and heavy handed Marxist agenda will have even his supporters very upset before too long.

Simply appalling and immature and proves that this is one big game of power hungry in your face thugs.

If this is a sign of things to come, our enemies may not need the NY Times go find out our most secretive national secrets...they can just go to Obama himself.

What goes around comes around. Maybe we can see enough blabber mouths in the Bambi administration that he can't pull off too many Marxist ideas without us knowing. Just a thought.

DRUDGE REPORT is a right wing mouthpiece. I would not put to much credence in what they say. Maybe Bush's people leaked the conversation and are placing the blame on Obama's aids to make him look bad.

Interestig. I wonder if the "aides" will be able to get a security clearance.

Are you joking. Take a gander at this press release (from the Iranian press, by the way):

Obama will use executive power to reverse Bush era directives

New York, Nov 10, IRNA
US-President-elect

President-elect Barack Obama will likely use his executive powers after taking office to block new drilling leases on environmentally sensitive land in Utah and to allow federal funding of stem-cell research, putting a quick mark on policy making.

"There's a lot the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action," John Podesta, head of Obama's transition team said.

Podesta said Obama is "a transformational figure" and that the support he received among voters in some Republican states and conservative counties gives him a mandate to pursue his agenda aggressively.

Rolling back executive orders issued by the Bush administration could give Obama a fast way to put his mark on policy making after he takes office, as past presidents have.

Other Bush-era executive orders that Obama could reverse include a ban on federal aid to family planning organizations that counsel women on abortion, and a decision in December that restricts California in regulating greenhouse-gas emissions from cars.

The Bush administration has been rushing to implement regulations before Obama takes office.

Unlike with executive orders, some of these would take longer for Obama and the Democrats to roll back.

One Bush-era measure Obama is likely to address quickly are the new oil and gas leases approved recently by the Department of Interior that would open up for drilling land near Arches and Canyonlands national parks in southern Utah's desert.

Environmentalists said drilling in the area could potentially damage the parks and surrounding land.

Obama could also lift restrictions placed by President George W.
Bush on the type of stem-cell research that can be funded with federal dollars.

Democratic congressional leaders have vowed to push a twice- vetoed stem-cell research bill as one of the first acts of the next Congress.

Podesta and other top Obama aides fanned out on the Sunday news talk shows, suggesting that after Tuesday's electoral sweep, the incoming administration would begin to try to influence policy making before January's inauguration.

Podesta, incoming White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and transition Co-Chair Valerie Jarrett touched upon the detailed preparations the Obama team has made to pave the way for a smooth transition to the presidency.
Podesta said his team has been working since early August, with transition leaders meeting frequently with officials in the Bush White House.

About 100 Obama aides received security clearance before the election, so they could begin accessing national-security information immediately after Obama won.

Emanuel said the president-elect would be moving forward with his entire agenda as soon as he is sworn in.

That agenda includes achieving universal health care, increasing education funding, implementing middle-class tax cuts and moving the country toward energy independence.

The first priority will be implementing an economic stimulus plan that includes tax rebates for the middle class and funding for infrastructure and school construction, Emanuel said.

Then the new administration would regroup and push what he called the president-elect's four "reforms": education, health care, energy and taxes.

White House says Bush says didn't link trade, autos

Tue Nov 11, 2008 12:13pm EST

By Jeremy Pelofsky

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The White House said on Tuesday President George W. Bush did not link support for economic stimulus measures or further aid to U.S. automakers to congressional passage of free trade pacts in a meeting with President-elect Barack Obama.

"The president did not suggest a quid-pro-quo," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters, adding, however, that Bush did speak to Obama about the merits of free trade.

An Obama adviser, speaking on condition of anonymity, also said Bush did not link the issues in their White House meeting on Monday.

The New York Times, citing people familiar with the discussion, reported Bush indicated he might support further aid to struggling automakers and a broader economic stimulus package if Democrats in Congress passed a stalled free-trade agreement with Colombia.

At the meeting, Obama urged Bush to use existing bailout measures to help the ailing industry on top of a $25 billion loan packaged approved in September, another Obama aide said.

That aide, who insisted on anonymity, said Obama suggested accelerating implementation of the current loan package and exploring avenues that exist under current law.

Obama suggested identifying someone in charge of the auto issue who would have authority to bring about reforms that would lead to a viable auto industry, the aide said.

Obama also raised the need for a second stimulus plan that would create jobs and help relieve "the squeeze on families," the aide said.

EXISTING PACKAGE

The Bush administration said any new and substantial money for manufacturers could come out of the existing loan package, which was passed to help Detroit make more fuel-efficient vehicles. But any change would require additional legislative action, White House spokesman Tony Fratto said.

"We're open to ideas from Congress to accelerate funds they've already appropriated in the auto loan program -- as long as funding will continue to go to viable firms and with strong taxpayer protections," Fratto said.

Detroit has asked for up to $25 billion in additional loans to stave off collapse. U.S. auto sales are plunging and General Motors Corp, Chrysler LLC and Ford Motor Co, are burning through billions of dollars of cash monthly.

Automakers privately say the financing for fuel-efficient vehicles would take too long to obtain and has too many strings attached to help shake the current crisis. They would like another $25 billion later to reduce retiree health-care costs.

Top congressional Democrats asked Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson on Saturday to consider using the $700 billion financial bailout initiative that has so far covered banks and other financial services companies to help automakers as well.

Congress next week could act to increase the flexibility of the bailout program if Treasury balks.

Obama, who takes office on January 20, said in a news conference on Friday that aid for automakers is a high priority of his transition team.

Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said on the plane back from Washington after the meeting on Monday that Obama did not ask Bush for help for a specific American automaker.

Bush doesn't have the right to tell other people when they can talk. He's gotten to used to the idea that he does.

He should just not speak to people if he doesn't want to be quoted.

Uh-huh, ya know in the story Jericho, where the evil shadow government with shadow military perpetrators [both U.S.] executed the nuclear strike on America?

someone, please tell me there's an alphabet agency or special ops team in the military that's keeping track of this president-elect farakhan look-alike and his 100 court jesters, [I mean assistants].

and, what's with this?

QUOTE FROM POST 25: ""About 100 Obama aides received security clearance before the election, so they could begin accessing national-security information immediately after Obama won.""

the electoral college vote, 12/15, hasn't happened yet, let alone the innauguration. and they're letting 100 newly clearanced [probably giddy as flies on shit] assistants access to all national security aspects of our country?

we are so screwed.

A pastor once warned me about saying anything of a confidential nature to another pastor we both knew. The first pastor had said something in confidence to the second pastor, and the next thing he knew the story was making the rounds.

Obama is building a reputation.

Oh FL, Bush didn't have to even talk to him. He gave the O a courtesy visit and had every right to expect privacy. That is the way it has always been. The damage is to O. Bush will now simply not invite hime to meetings and he is not even required to let him have security briefings. But Bush is at least an honest Man and will let O have his security briefings. Because of this loose lips sink ships thing, It is more than likely the payback will be a veto of any programs proposed or supported by O. A subtle in your face not like the In your Face you guys like.

Gawd at least admit his aides should learn to keep their frigging mouths shut.

That will make for an unpleasant and dangerous transition I would expect.

The next two months should be putting politics aside for what's in the best interest of the country, Bush hasn't forgotten that and I expect Obama will never figure it out.

It's called decorum, FL. It may be expected that the conversations remain private, and he ignores it. That's certainly his perogative. It would be the president's perogative to have no more transition discussions, if Obama can't control himself.

The president didn't tell Obama not to talk, but he did show his irritation at the breach of protocol. O's supporter's said he can just get on-the-job training. In this particular episode, he just delivered himself a big box of FAIL. He'll either learn from it, or he won't. Other countries and world powers learned something from it, I assure you.

As President Bush has little to gain by doing so, it's highly unlikely he did it.

Perhaps Mr. Obama himself was responsible.

My point is, did they agree on confidentiality beforehand? Or did Bush just assume?

I don't expect my conversations with others to remain private unless I have specifically requested the friend's confidence. Otherwise they have every right to repeat anything I say, and I'm a fool to say it out loud if I don't want it known.

It is tradition for the President to maintain private briefs with their successor. It is also tradition that it be kept private with the exception of sharing some info with top aides. Now we know even his top aides can't be trusted. So what happens now, take another picture off another wall.:shr:
