CRISIS ARE THINGS GOING TO CRITICAL MASS? 6-10-2014

MERS May be airborne!
http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/showthread.php?452741-MERS-May-be-airborne!&highlight=mers

Don't forget China. Right now flights are being delayed around China due to unspecified military exercises. These delays are expected through mid-August.

China Connection has done a great job of highlighting the growing unrest there, political and financial. And there has been much more coordination between China and Russia of late, both financial and military. And both Putin and Xi have been tromping around to the south of us in the last month making deals, known and unknown.

Has No Life - Lives on TB
I dunno............I realize this is a prep thread and all..........and when I wasn't working I had more time to follow everything.

But we've had so many situations happen over the past 5 to 8 years without anything hitting the fan yet it is so hard to determine what combinations of events if any will or won't lead to a critical mass of societal collapse or a final decline of the US........

I'm not saying it won't happen.....but my inner prudence tells me as long as I have prepped for some aspect of a long term survival and then go about my business doing the best I can at work everyday....then that's all I can do for now.

I remember when that one woman talked about imminent bank collapse within a month or two.......over a year ago.....and then that talk on here about something in the summer major is going to happen (wasn't that last summer) that was even too intense to share insight about........

but nothing happened..........sooner or later the doom predictions might be right but they cry wolf for so long that if it really does happen we might be buffered to the point of ignorance in action due to being burned out from the hype of readiness for what has not transpired.....

Regardless I still enjoy the insight and posts here.......I just take it with a grain of salt these days more so than before....

It was the early humans who reacted quickly to the quiver of every nearby bush out in the wild 70,000 years ago who made it into today's gene pool through their progeny. This multi-year hangfire, (and that is the best description of what we have been experiencing these last few years especially since the Fall of 2008), is now the closest to igniting that I have ever seen. The smoke is rising from near the percussion cap as I type.

And nobody in this world has been through the end of an era, a worldwide era, before. We have no idea of how to calibrate our reactions to what we have seen developing around us. And it takes a lot to fell an era, just like a sturdy old man who has gone to ruin but hangs on in his death bed past all reason.

One more fortuitous accident, and the Grim Reaper will be calling.

The Ten Plagues That Are Hitting America Right Now
By Michael Snyder, on July 22nd, 2014

Why are so many plagues hitting the United States all of a sudden? Yes, one can always point out bad stuff that is happening somewhere in the country, but right now we are facing a nightmarish combination of crippling drought, devastating wildfires, disastrous viruses, dying crops and superbugs that scientists don’t know how to kill. And as you will see, we even have a plague of flies down in Mississippi. So what in the world is going on? Is this just a case of bad luck, or is something else happening? At the conclusion of this article, please feel free to tell me what you think. The following are ten plagues that are hitting America right now…

#1 The Plague Of Flies In The Upper Mississippi River Valley

This is perhaps the least dangerous plague, but it is also one of the most interesting. Just recently, a plague of flies was so thick in the upper Mississippi River valley that it showed up on radar…

The mayflies were detectable on radar around 845 pm and reports in the towns and cities began rolling in of the swarming and piles of mayflies. Numerous videos and pictures were circulating on social media, some of which are posted below as well.

The radar detected the flies about 845 pm, emanating from the river (the source) with echo values similar to that of light-moderate rain (35-40 dBZ). With a general south-to-north wind flow above the surface, the mayflies quickly moved north once in the air. As the flies dispersed moving north-northeast, they also gained altitude with some of the echo being detected as far north as Black River Falls and as high as 2500 feet above ground.

By late evening, mayflies were swarming in La Crosse, La Crescent, Stoddard and points up and down the river. While the emergence of mayflies from their river bottom mud dwelling can occur at various times through the warm season depending on the species, this particular emergence was that of the larger black/brown Bilineata species.

Here is one photo of the flies that was posted by the federal government…

#2 The Chikungunya Virus

As I wrote about the other day, down in Florida health officials have discovered the very first confirmed cases of the chikungunya virus to be transmitted locally. In other words, it is now being passed to people that have not even traveled out of the country.

An epidemic of the virus has already been declared down in Puerto Rico, and authorities are deeply concerned about the possibility of one up here as well.

Already, cases of the virus have been reported in 30 different states and the total number of cases in the U.S. is more than five times higher than in any other recent year.

If you live in an area that has a lot of mosquitos, you might want to be very, very careful right about now because this is a virus that is exceedingly painful…

With illness onset, the person develops high fever, chills, and joint pain, followed in some by a rash on the trunk, limbs and face lasting 3-4 days. Muscle and joint pain last about one week. Joint pain is often severe and in some people lasts longer, up to several months.

#3 The Wildfires Out West

The massive wildfires in Washington, Oregon and western Canada have spread clouds of smoke over vast areas of the northwest United States in recent days. The following excerpt comes from a recent CNN report…

Wildfires spanning almost 170,000 acres are driving hundreds of people from their homes in Washington state and across the border in Canada, officials said.

Washington authorities say the fires surged overnight to 168,713 acres in the state. The flames have encroached on towns.

Janet Pearce of the Washington state Department of Natural Resources said the four fires had not been contained as of Friday morning. An estimated 80 homes were destroyed and cell phone service was knocked out.

#4 The Drought In California

The nightmarish multi-year drought in the state of California just continues to get even worse.

This week it was reported that 81 percent of California is now experiencing “extreme drought” or worse.

Three months ago, that number was just 68 percent.

And we are being told that downtown Los Angeles is now the driest that it has been since rain records began in 1877.

For much, much more on this, please see my recent article entitled “20 Signs The Epic Drought In The Western United States Is Starting To Become Apocalyptic“.

#5 The Virus That Has Killed Millions Of Our Pigs

A horrific pig virus known as porcine epidemic diarrhea came over from China a little over a year ago.

Since then, it has killed about 7 million pigs, and approximately 100,000 more are dying each week.

#6 Citrus Greening

Have you ever heard of citrus greening disease?

Perhaps not, but it has gotten so bad down in Florida that experts are now saying that the entire citrus industry in the state “could be destroyed”…

“It’s horrible — it’s a disaster,” says Fred Gmitter, a professor of horticulture science at the University of Florida Citrus Research and Education Center.

It might be time to kiss your OJ goodbye, unless science steps in to save the day.

At least 70% of Florida’s citrus trees are already infected by the disease, known as citrus greening, huanglongbing, or occasionally just with an ominous “it,” as in “It’s here.”

Florida’s citrus crop this year is the lowest it’s been in 30 years, and agricultural authorities have continued to lower their production estimates. Orange-juice prices are up nearly 20% this year alone and will continue to rise. The disease was a major factor in the lime shortage that made the price of a box of Persian limes jump from $18 to $85 last December. Prices could jump higher for oranges. Researchers and growers say that if a cure isn’t found, the entire $9 billion Florida citrus industry could be destroyed.

#7 Bananas Going Extinct?

You bananas are not safe either.

According to CNBC, the TR4 fungus is spreading so rapidly that it could eventually totally wipe out the variety of bananas that we find in our grocery stores today…

Banana lovers take note: The world’s supply of the fruit is under attack from a fungus strain that could wipe out the popular variety that Americans eat.

“It’s a very serious situation,” said Randy Ploetz, a professor of plant pathology at the University of Florida who in 1989 originally discovered a strain of Panama disease, called TR4, that may be growing into a serious threat to U.S. supplies of the fruit and Latin American producers.

“There’s nothing at this point that really keeps the fungus from spreading,” he said in an interview with CNBC.

While there are nearly 1,000 varieties of bananas, the most popular is the Cavendish, which accounts for 45 percent of the fruit’s global crop—and the one Americans mostly find in their supermarkets.

#8 The Number Of Earthquakes Is Increasing

For a long time, scientists tried to deny that the number of earthquakes is increasing.

But now, the USGS is finally admitting that the number of big earthquakes has doubled…

If you think there have been more earthquakes than usual this year, you’re right. A new study finds there were more than twice as many big earthquakes in the first quarter of 2014 as compared with the average since 1979.

“We have recently experienced a period that has had one of the highest rates of great earthquakes ever recorded,” said lead study author Tom Parsons, a research geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in Menlo Park, California.

Fortunately, most of the earthquakes in the U.S. so far this year have been relatively small or have been in isolated areas.

But they have been popping up in very unusual areas (such as Oklahoma), and as seismic activity along the Ring of Fire continues to increase, it is probably only a matter of time before one of our major cities gets hit with a major tragedy.

#9 Superbugs

Thanks at least in part to the massive overuse of antibiotics, a new generation of superbugs is arising. Scientists have no way to kill these superbugs, and according to experts they are finding their way “into healthcare facilities nationwide”…

Drug-resistant superbug infections have reached near-epidemic levels across U.S. hospitals, with an alarming 500% increase now documented in a study just published in the August issue of Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology (the journal of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America).

Lead author of the study, Dr. Joshua Thaden, warned “This dangerous bacteria is finding its way into healthcare facilities nationwide… A CRE epidemic is fast approaching… Even this marked increase likely underestimates the true scope of the problem given variations in hospital surveillance practices.”

The study also found that an astonishing 94 percent of CRE infections were caused by healthcare activities or hospital procedures.

#10 Fukushima

The Fukushima nuclear disaster is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Hundreds of tons of radioactive water are being released into the Pacific on a continual basis, and this could potentially affect our oceans and our food chain for generations to come.

But it is a “slow motion disaster” that is already “old news”, so most Americans don’t think about it anymore. But the truth is that there is a lot of evidence that it should be taken very seriously in this country. For much more on this, please see this article.

In Japan, of course, things are even worse.

In fact, one Japanese doctor that was working in Tokyo says that radiation sickness is rampant in that city…

Since December 2011, I have conducted thyroid ultrasound examinations, thyroid function tests, general blood tests and biochemical tests on about 2000 people, mostly families in the Tokyo metropolitan area expressing concerns on the effects of radiation. I have observed that white blood cells, especially neutrophils, are decreasing among children under the age of 10. There are cases of significant decline in the number of neutrophils in 0-1 year-olds born after the earthquake (<1000). In both cases, conditions tend to improve by moving to Western Japan (Neutrophils 0–>4500). Patients report nosebleed, hair loss, lack of energy, subcutaneous bleeding, visible urinary hemorrhage, skin inflammations, coughs and various other non-specific symptoms.

And this Japanese doctor believes that things are so dire that he says that the entire city of Tokyo should be evacuated…

Residents of Tokyo are unfortunately not in the position to pity the affected regions of Tohoku because they are victims themselves. Time is running short. I took an earlier step forward and evacuated to the west. My fellow doctors of medicine, I am waiting for you here. And to the people in Eastern Japan still hesitating, all my support goes to facilitating and enabling your evacuation, relocation, or a temporary relief in Western Japan.

Just like with Chernobyl, this radioactive material is going to silently make people sick and kill people all over globe for years to come, and most of them will never have any idea what is really happening to them.

So what do you think about all of this?

Please feel free to share your thoughts by posting a comment below…

MERS may have mutated to airborne agent
Posted on July 24, 2014 by The Extinction Protocol

July 2014 – SAUDI ARABIA – Genetic fragments of the deadly MERS virus were detected in the air of a barn where an infected camel was kept, a new study says. The findings show the need for further studies to determine if Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) can be transmitted through the air, the researchers said. Researchers collected air samples over three consecutive days from a camel barn owned by a 43-year-old male MERS patient who lived south of the town of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The man later died. One of the camels in the barn was later confirmed to have MERS. The air samples contained genetic fragments of MERS that were identical to those detected in the infected camel and its owner, according to the study in the July 22 issue of the journal mBio.

The findings show the need for “further investigations and measures to prevent possible airborne transmission of this deadly virus,” lead author Esam Azhar, said in a news release from the American Society for Microbiology. Azhar is the head of the Special Infectious Agents Unit at King Fahd Medical Research Center and associate professor of medical virology at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, according to the news release. “This study also underscores the importance of obtaining a detailed clinical history with particular emphasis on any animal exposure for any [MERS] case, especially because recent reports suggest higher risk of [MERS] infections among people working with camels,” he added. According to the latest update released by the World Health Organization on June 16, there were 701 laboratory-confirmed cases of MERS reported globally, including at least 249 deaths. –US News

This is directly due to banana plantations converting solely to Cavendish, using clonal reproduction. If banana farmers planted a wider variety of bananas, this disease would not be a problem at all. Monoculture farming is always a terrible idea. I've lived in HI and eaten many varieties of bananas and a lot of them are much better than Cavendish.

Sorry, it is MERS that is now reported to be airborne. Drudgereport.com has two stories related to Ebola. The first is the lead doctor treating Ebola has now been infected. Three nurses died last week in the same treatment facility.

The second story is one man is being tested for Ebola in Lagos, Nigeria. If he is infected, a big if, this means Ebola has now spread to a city of 21 million people. Lagos is the fourth largest city in the world. Nigeria has plenty of money from oil, but is a typical third world African country in many ways, including a dysfunctional public health system. Nigeria also has DIRECT FLIGHTS TO BOTH EUROPE AND THE USA. It "may" be the case an infected person is already in the USA and Europe. We will not know. The mere fact that Ebola "may" be in Lagos is a huge dot, and "could" mean a global pandemic is about to start.

The hordes of disease ridden illegals now pouring over the wide open southern border are also of critical importance. Colorado reported four cases of Bubonic plague recently. The Sacramento story about 111 TB cases is very disturbing, especially if any of them are antibiotic resistant strains.

Yep, the potential global pandemic is just simmering along.

Be Well

may all be well
Thank you for the clarification, DD. Small consolation in light of everything else, but airborne Ebola would be a game changer. I would like to know if the index case in Sacramento had drug resistant TB, I do not know if subsequent cases would all be drug resistant, or does "regular" TB just become drug resistant in some patients? I hope someone knows the answer and will post it.

Doomer Doug

TB Fanatic
There are now three types of TB. The first is the non anti biotic resistant strain that is the majority of the cases. For now, "most" TB cases are treatable with at least one anti biotic. There are issues with the three week duration of oral therapy. The drug resistant strains started when people, in some cases homeless types, didn't complete the FULL three week oral therapy.

The second type of TB case is the drug resistant type. "Some" of the drug resistant types are now in the process of morphing into completely untreatable cases using any current anti biotic available. The completely untreatable TB cases are the third type of TB cases. Fortunately, they are still relatively rare, in both numbers and location. Still, along with MERSA, the anti biotic resistant strain of the common Staph bacteria, they are potentially 100 per cent lethal. We are now ramping up the numbers of both the second and third types of TB cases. The second type is very difficult to treat, but it can be cured with an intense treatment protocol that requires physically locking away the homeless types for instance and forcing them to take the full three week regime.

Most of the third type of TB cases are in Russian prisons, overseas and now in US prisons etc. There are a few third level TB cases out and about in the USA. Now that the diseased foreign hordes are pouring in, courtesy of Obama the child king, we can expect a wave of South American diseases to happen. Whether any of the Sacramento cases are second level, much less third level, is unknown to Doomer Doug.

TB used to a real killer a century or so ago. The lack of understanding related to bacterial infection, along with the lack of anti biotics meant people died from TB. Penicilan? was only discovered in the 1940s. It took less than 60 years to render it ineffective against many common bacteria. My understanding is there is only ONE type of antibiotic that is useful against most bacteria. In the third level NO ANTIBIOTIC IS EFFECTIVE AT ALL. Once the third level becomes more common, we will see TB deaths, MERSA deaths, flesh eating bacterial deaths skyrocket.

Be Well

may all be well
Thank you for your detailed response. I have another question.... From what (not much) I have read or heard about the TB meds regimen, it is much longer than 3 weeks. I knew someone who had spent time in a third world country and came back testing positive for TB but AFAIK it was only the skin positive, but she still took the regular TB meds just in case, due to work issues. It took months and involved more than one kind of antibiotic. Same thing with another person I knew who did get full blown TB while living in India and came back to the US, but that was at least 3 decades ago. The first case I mentioned was just a few years ago.

IMHO the illegal invasion guarantees a huge increase in TB and other diseases.

I remember when I was a kid, an old family friend had had TB during WW2, and I heard stories of how she had to spend 2 years in a TB sanatarium and had had one lung removed. She was always a bit pale and sickly looking compared to her siblings, these were people contemporary with my parents.

Doomer Doug

The extra length of treatment may have been due to the fact he contracted it overseas and they were thinking it was drug resistant. The "usual" treatment regimen is three weeks. I am sure many people have much longer time frames for a lot of different reasons. The second level would likely take much longer than three weeks.

The overuse of antibiotics in animal feed, plus giving it to every single child with an ear infection for the last several decades is why anti biotics are becoming useless.

The end of antibiotics is coming sooner than many people think. We are down to ONE specific type of antibiotic to treat several key diseases. The reason MERSA is so dangerous is staph is common in hospitals, and there is no way to treat MERSA effectively. The day hospitals have to be abandoned due to permanent infection of MERSA, or TB on site is coming.

The above is why personal and social hygiene is of critical importance. Anti-bacterial hand wipes/liquids are also bad, as is anti-bacterial soap. Research several years ago that I found showed that just washing hands for one minute even without any soap at all got rid of as many bacteria as anti-bacterial soap, and using regular ol' soap for less time worked just as well. Another useless "product" that did more harm than good.

Since I have many allergies to pharma drugs, I'm already at the point where there are hardly any anti=biotics I can take, so avoiding getting sick is the best policy, and this should be the norm for thinking people.

Deadly 'superbug' is spreading in US hospitals
Mark Koba | @MarkKobaCNBC
6 Hours AgoCNBC.com

Cases of the contagious and deadly "superbug" known as CRE increased five-fold in community hospitals from 2008 to 2012 in the Southeastern U.S., according to a new study.

David Sacks | Stone | Getty Images

And while the actual number of patients discovered was low—305—the worry is that CRE infections are under-reported and threaten health care facilities nationwide, said one of the report's authors. CRE is an antibiotic-resistant bacterium that usually strikes people in hospitals, nursing homes and other health centers.

"This is a wakeup call for hospitals on how to detect the disease," said Dr. Joshua Thaden, one of the leading authors for the study published in the August issue of the medical journal, Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology.

Read MoreSuperbug weapon has 'yuck factor' but big promise

"And the reason this is very serious is because of the high mortality rate (50 percent) of CRE," Thaden explained. "The fact that we're seeing an increase is concerning."

The study was conducted at 25 community hospitals in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia from January 2008 through December 2012.
MRSA found in firehouses

Adding to the concern is a report published last month that found another superbug, MRSA, at firehouses in Washington state.

Researchers at the University of Washington School of Public Health tested 33 firehouses for the presence of MRSA. The bug was found at 19 of those firehouses on ambulances, trucks and on kitchen surfaces.

Twelve crews reported having at least one member who had gotten an infection requiring medical care. No deaths have been reported.

Read More10.3 million adults got insurance in Obamacare launch

Dr. Allison Bartlett, an infectious disease specialist with La Rabida Children's Hospital in Chicago, said it's no surprise the bacteria was found where it was.

"Living in close quarters and a lack of frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces likely all contribute to the high rates of bacterial contamination," she said.

MRSA stands for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and is another drug-resistant bacteria. It causes a range of illnesses, from skin and wound infections to pneumonia and bloodstream infections that can cause sepsis and death.

Anyone can get MRSA through direct contact with an infected wound or by sharing personal items, such as towels or razors, that have touched infected skin.

There are more than 80,000 cases of MRSA detected each year in the U.S., with a reported 11,285 deaths.

"Developing new drugs is important, but the bacteria could end up resisting them as well." -Dr. Joshua Thaden, study author

CRE, is the acronym for Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. Because the various strains of the bacteria are mostly resistant to antibiotics, it's known as a superbug.

CRE can be transferred from a patient to the hands of the care provider, like a doctor or nurse, and from their hands to another patient. An estimated 9,300 people in the U.S. are infected by CRE every year, resulting in around 600 deaths.

All in all, there are at least 2 million illnesses reported each year from the various superbugs, resulting in more than 23,000 deaths, according to the CDC.

Since most CRE cases—and even some MRSA infections—usually start in health care facilities, pressure has been mounting in hospitals to do a better job of tracking them, said Dr. Cristie Columbus, vice dean for Texas A&M College of Medicine.

"Many of them have adopted new laboratory guidelines for improving detection," she said.

Columbus said that once infections have been detected, proper infection control, like patient isolation, needs to be implemented.

Why they're spreading now

Medical experts say that the overuse of antibiotics in humans and animals has led to the spread of superbugs.

That overuse is likely to continue in animals after a panel of the U.S. Second Court of Appeals ruled Thursday that the Food and Drug Administration does not have to consider banning the practice of feeding antibiotics to animals that are not sick.

The appeals court overturned two district court rulings in cases brought by the Natural Resources Defense Council and other groups. The suits sought to prompt the FDA to stop the routine use of certain antibiotics in healthy animals unless drug manufacturers proved the safety of such use.

Antibiotics are often used in livestock as a preventive measure. Eighty percent of all the antibiotics sold in the United States are used in livestock production.

There are calls for stronger antibiotics to deal with the superbug spread. However, that's likely to just continue the vicious cycle of drug resistance, said Thaden, a Boston-based specialist in infectious disease.

"Developing new drugs is important, but the bacteria could end up resisting them as well," he said.

In the last few days ISIS has beheaded Syrian POWs, cut a five year old in half, buried women and children alive; now they just beheaded a US journalist. Islam is a religion of animals, by animals and for animals.
