What a waste. He was in the service for three years and nobody sensed he was more than half a bubble out of plumb? Friends? Family?
The so-called palestinians he chose to die for had their piece of ground. They chose to to use it for a launch pad to keep trying to kill Israelis and the last attempt in October, was particularly grisly.
It should be noted that no other ME country wants these people within their boarders or near them.
FWIW, we could ship them to NYC which is a sanctuary city. They'd have to stay within the boarder of the city.

These folks are extremely vulnerable to brainwashing to start with, (weak, fuzzy, muddled minds and purposeless lives) then go from "fan" to "fanatic" over a certain cause or a certain "leader". Reaches the point where they don't care about anything else, including their own well-being/survival.

It is true. A charismatic leader can pull the herd. I've heard Hitler's speeches - while I don't understand German, the timing, the nuance, and the emotion behind it are all there. All elements of charisma.

I wish I had charisma - good looks alone just doesn't cut it.

WASHINGTON (AP) — An active-duty member of the U.S. Air Force has died after he set himself ablaze outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., while declaring that he “will no longer be complicit in genocide.”

The 25-year-old airman, Aaron Bushnell, of San Antonio, Texas, died from his injuries, the Metropolitan
Police Department said Monday.

Bushnell had walked up to the embassy shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday and began livestreaming on the video streaming platform Twitch, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. Law enforcement officials believe the man started a livestream, set his phone down and then doused himself in accelerant and ignited the flames. At one point, he said he “will no longer be complicit in genocide,” the person said. The video was later removed from the platform, but law enforcement officials have obtained and reviewed a copy.

The person was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the ongoing investigation and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.

In a statement Monday, the Air Force said, “The individual involved in yesterday’s incident succumbed to his injuries and passed away last night.” The Air Force said it would provide additional information a day after military officials complete notifying his next of kin.

The incident happened as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking the cabinet approval for a military operation in the southern Gazan city of Rafah while a temporary cease-fire deal is being negotiated. Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, however, has drawn criticisms, including genocide claims against the Palestinians.

Israel has adamantly denied the genocide allegations and says it is carrying out operations in accordance with international law in the Israel-Hamas war.

In December, a person self-immolated outside the Israeli consulate in Atlanta and used gasoline as an accelerant, according to Atlanta’s fire authorities. A Palestinian flag was found at the scene, and the act was believed to be one of “extreme political protest.”

Back when I first joined the navy (1975) and was assigned to a Marine Corps base I asked many Marines that had served several tours in Vietnam how you could tell a Vietnamese from a Viet Cong. The MOST common answer: "If you shoot one and they live....they are Vietnamese. If you shoot one and they die......they are Viet Cong."

It's a well know fact that many Vietnamese families would send one son North and one son South to insure that the family would be on the winning side. How messed up is that!?! Unfortunately it's called survival in an impossible situation.

They might be Vietnamese by day and Viet Cong by night. I suspect the same thing is going on with the Palestinians. Palestinian by day and Hamas by night. So how do you sort them out, the good from the bad.....YOU DON'T!

The ONLY solution that I can see that might possibly work, though no one, especially the Palestinians would accept it, is to give them a section of the Sinai and move them all COMPLETELY out of Gaza and the West Bank. Build a modern city, port facilities, water desalination plants and a total infrastructure funded by the UN and all the other Arab/Muslim nations.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY a two state solution could or would ever work. That idea is TOTAL FAILURE from the get go and the world needs to accept that fact and seek a REAL solution.

Apparently local EMS & ER were too prepared/equipped and the dolt survived as of last night.

As this was him making a personal statement while in uniform (which he disgraced and I think is against regulations) perhaps a timely separation from the service is in order?

I actually agree with this. As stupid as many on here think he was, this tragic young man was deceived into thinking he was doing good by killing himself in such a horrible manner. I watched the video he did of himself walking up to the area, and his words were so confident, yet had such a tone of hopelessness in them. It reminded me of someone who's seen behind the curtain, and wasn't prepared to handle the evil. Such a sad situation. It's so easy to remove ourselves from the emotional side of these situations when we're just reading about it in the news, but watching that video, I was reminded that this was a human being, and he most certainly did not deserve what the demons who deceived him possessed him to do. :shk:
