Is this line such that a big belch would break off a chunk of island?
'
I have no idea what it would take to break off that unstable slab. I'm not sure anybody does. It is getting bigger, with more and more vents seeming to open, over a larger and larger area. I am not even sure exactly what the positioning is with relation to the slab. In the event that this is just getting going (and it certainly seems to be building vigor) I guess anything is possible!

It’s a shame the original thread got moved because it had a lot of maps and information in it that wouldve helped out….

Gets hard to figure out where to post--I used to see admin merging threads when something was going on and several got started

Have any coastal communities on the Atlantic started evacuating? Would they even bother trying to evacuate the population (though I wonder how many officials are taking sudden vacations)?

Not to rain on everyone’s doom, but the eruption does not guarantee that the entire Eastern Seaboard of the US will be wiped-out. There could be other ramifications, certainly to the residents. Probably air quality alerts and air traffic disruptions.

There are certain groups, guilds, and/or crime families that would love to wait for the right moments to detonate that hidden nuke they have planted there (no I have no proof but it makes sense). That sure would be a way to get American presidents to "obey".. Pray it goes away but prepare for anything.

For those following prophecy -
Rev 8:8 - "something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood "

The announcement (without putting it through a translator to make sure) is the usual "in case of an eruption, close your windows and listen for evacuation updates from the government yada, yada.

The guy on Red Baron's "closed" thread has a very strong, probably regional accent, and combined with the mask I only understood "2 or 3 days" but pretty much nothing else.

But then with masks, I have trouble understanding people in English, my dentist finally had to take his off to talk to me.

It might be more appropriate to say that as a chunk of the island slowly breaks away, big belches are a side effect. This eruption is not the cause of movement, but a symptom.

Where did you get the idea that an eruption guarantees the entire Eastern Seaboard of the US will be wiped-out? No one here has said that. We are simply having a conversation about a threat that IS real, and a situation happening at this minute that relates to that potential threat.

No one here is wallowing in doom, and we are not stupid people drooling in the corner and waiting for someone to tell us how to think, so we do know that there will be other ramifications.

Your condescension is both a childishly obvious attempt to make yourself appear intellectually superior, and completely unwarranted.

The current program is to tell people to be sure to take food, clothing, and water with them when they evacuate, so far people are remaining calm and going to stay with friends...wow I thought they talked fast in Caracas - basically still in man-on-the-street reporting mode from what I can tell.

Lighten up a little bit.

Newslady said there will be an update at the top of the hour - they are now taking calls from people - again more man on the street reporting - I guess people in La Pama speak faster than Cubans and I am not used to this accent!

If I get a chance, I will try to listen at the top of the hour (I've got it in the background now - hoping my ear will adjust to the accents). But if it is the science guy in the mask I may not get much, but then there may be news in Enlgish.

The man message from their local TV is "stay calm, stay calm, stay calm."

All of the coverage I have seen so far is in Spanish/Portuguese.

I don't expect our slick dick domestic media to latch onto this story unless it hits them directly in the face.

As long as it stays small it should be fine, what is worrying is a piece of the island breaking off in a large eruption; that could cause a tsunami that could hit North America and even a few places in Europe.

But there have been small ones there before, as recently (I think) as the 1970s.

There is a fracture in the volcano on the west side that if there is a sufficient explosive eruption the fractured part of the volcano would slip down into the Atlantic Ocean resulting in a tsunami that could be sufficient to wash across Florida and flood the east coast of America.
