King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, says Buckingham Palace.

It is not prostate cancer, but was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

The type of cancer has not been revealed, but according to a palace statement the King began "regular treatments" on Monday.

Buckingham Palace says the King "remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible".

He will postpone his public engagements and it is expected other senior royals will help to stand in for him during his treatment.

No further details are being shared on the stage of cancer or a prognosis.

Although he will pause his public events, the King, 75, will continue with his constitutional role as head of state.

He was seen at a church service in Sandringham on Sunday, where he waved to crowds.

He had a prostate procedure at a private London hospital more than a week ago.

The King had chosen to go public about his prostate treatment, with the aim of encouraging more men to get prostate checks, the palace said at the time.

He was said to have been delighted to have raised awareness about the issue, with the NHS website reporting a surge in issues about prostate conditions.

Well, if they are going to announce it to the world, they might as well tell what kind it is or there will be lots of wild speculation.

I assume it's not good, otherwise they'd say he has X type of cancer, we're catching it early, beginning full on treatment so he can have a complete recovery. By saying he has it but avoiding further details, it doesn't sound good... to me anyway.

This seems suspect given the recent surgery for Catherine. There may have been signs.

As for Harry, if Charles dies at least some of his financial support will end unless King Dad leaves him something in the will from his personal wealth.

You know William has to be stressed. His wife and now his father.

I think IF it is a bad/fast cancer, that Charles will be pushed to abdicate for William to be crowned. I hope Charles is smart enough to know that he won't be able to rule very well if he's in treatments a lot.

We'll have to see if Harry comes around. There hasn't been a lot about him and Megxit in the news lately. But if he comes out moving towards reconciliation too slowly or even snubbing his father, I think the tide will turn quickly against him. Most people may have had some empathy for him with the messed up family business, but with the "dad may die" business, many of those people will want to see some kind of reconciliation as soon as possible. I think most people are starting to recognize that Harry's reasons for leaving his family and England are petty and spiteful and have no real facts behind them. And missy megan doesn't help matters with her attitude!

And, who knows? Maybe Charles wants out of the kingship and the "cancer" is just a made up thing to give him the graceful "out" he needs. If he were to abdicate for another reason, it would not look well on him and I think he, and the royal family, have some backflash on them. This way, he would have a graceful and sympathetic out, long vacations for "treatments," and a "surprise! he's cured!" at the end. We'll see what comes up in the future!

Could be it's all just a cover to get people's minds off of other more pressing country and global issues - like the economy, the One World Government....

With all the lying and manipulating that's going on in almost all countries and globally, we may never know what the true story is.

I probably shouldn't say this, but I wonder if he took the............................?

I wouldn't take that little punk back into the family until he divorced Megan. She is and always was the problem.
