PLAY The Worst City in Every State

Oh, of course Ohio's worst city is Dayton. I can't stand Dayton. I hate driving through it. But then, just about every big city in Ohio is trash. Cincinnati used to be nice. I don't think it is anymore.
Dayton is a total hole. I was there a few weeks ago for the first time in a long while and it was total trash. I didn’t feel safe for 1 minute and even heard gunshots across the road from the field my daughter was playing soccer on. I won’t be going back there any time soon. Ugghhh

They hit the mark with Jackson being the worst in Mississippi. Southaven, MS is almost as bad. It's just a city extension of Memphis across the state line.
Yep. They got it right with Jackson. It's a cesspool. I even stopped going to the gun shows in Jackson because, in addition to it being a long drive, I didn't even feel safe leaving my truck in the parking lot. Anyone whose driven through - or even around - Jackson knows that the streets look like something out of a demolition derby.

In addition to having skyrocketing crime, a leftist, incompetent black administration, and deteriorating infrastructure, they can't even keep the water and sewer systems working. If Jackson wasn't the state capitol - which means that it gets at least some state support - I think the whole place would implode and turn into a black hole, with an especially malevolent form of gravity sucking everything into it!

Totally agree. We stopped going to Jackson years ago. Just like it's been years since going to Memphis. The closest we have come to Jackson, lately, is driving down the Natchez Trace Parkway to Natchez, MS. By-passed Jackson altogether.

It was bad but not horrible up until about 2009 when DHL closed. I think that closure was the straw that broke the camel's bad. All those area restaurants and several grocery stores closed soon after.

I was living up in Columbus at the time, and by 2010, I was starting to think about leaving Ohio. I didn't see good things ahead.

Fortunately it isn't very big and many surrounding areas are pretty nice. Like Oakwood, former home of NCR. Fairborn, home of Wright-Patt AFB, is kinda-sorta nice in spots, old and shabby in others.

We live about halfway between Dayton and Middletown. Hometown of Hillbilly Elegy author Senator JD Vance. Which is also a pretty crappy city.

Our area is fabulous by comparison. We love it here. And in Butler Co. you have the awesome Sheriff Richard Jones, so that's something to be proud of. :) My son lives in Chillicothe, which is not so nice (I'm trying to get him to leave), but much better than neighboring Portsmouth. Ohio isn't so bad; it depends on where you are.

It's IN Louisiana.
You obviously have never lived in Louisiana, Brack…

There are lots of great places to live in Louisiana. I have lived in several.

I have never lived in Turkey Creek (though my dad got a speeding ticket in that town back in the 1950s, when he was an airman at Barksdale Air Force Base and was speeding south on LA Hwy 1, hoping to get down to his pregnant wife in New Orleans before I emerged out of my mother’s birth canal)…

But whereas there are some bad places to live in Louisiana too, Turkey Creek would never be considered one of those places by Louisiana natives “in the know.”

Seems to me that either New Orleans or Baton Rouge would be generally considered the worst cities to live in, in Louisiana.

Not Turkey Creek.

I would say Miami or Jacksonville is worse than Orlando.

And, there is no way Manitowac is worse than Milwaukee, Racine, or Kenosha.

40 years ago I had to visit an extrusion factory in e st louis. I was told, over the phone, how to get there. He then told me if I got lost after a certain point to not stop and ask directions until I had turned around and gone back to a point. After I got there I understood why he had told me that!

Cairo, IL still got peoples in it?
About 6 years ago we drove through Cairo, IL and there was all kinds of activity, traffic. A cop had a car pulled over and there were businesses open. We drove through Cairo again like 2 years ago and I am not exaggerating, it was a literal ghost town. No traffic, no open businesses.

Since New Years Day, 2024 over 40 (43-44 I think) children ( that's not teens ot 'tweens but children) have been treated for GSW.

There was not a 100% survival rate.

There's bigger places with more population but I submit the overall winner of the worst, most corrupt and violent shit hole in America title is good old Memphis TN.

Just don't
I think there are redemptive parts of even the worst cities. For example, Gary has Miller Beach, which is quite a nice place to vacation. The beaches of Manitowoc up through nearby Two Rivers and the road and recreational trail in between them along the shore of Lake Michigan are the primary reason I decided to live here. It's like being on permanent vacation in a very affordable place to live, even though I'm not yet retired. It also helps that I have "big city" features of Green Bay, Appleton and Sheboygan less than an hour away.

She needs to be packing at all times.
I have never lived in Anchorage but have been there a lot when we lived in Alaska.
I would never live there but then I would never live in a city either but for reference on crime rate here are a few statistics

They don't call it Los Anchorage for no reason. It's the big town in Alaska and so strays tend to drift there. Juneau is too isolated or it'd be overrun, and Fairbanks is a tough place to live if a person is indigent. Some of the outlying villages in the bush are pretty rustic.

Turns out, for Michigan, it's Flint, which isn't much of a surprise. So what say you, residents of the various states? Did they call it?

As chance has it, I seem to have spent time in every one of those cities in the Lower 48. Do I have the misfortune of hitting all the bad spots or did I leave wreckage and ruin in my wake when I visited those places?

Using what metrics?

Camden NJ is a dump there are worse areas.

Scranton PA, it's a dump but your not getting shot for driving down the wrong street while white.
Since Scranton Joe threw the border open, you are now likely to get shot while driving down the street in Scranton for not speaking Spanish, not having one of the new Spanish-language radio stations blaring or not throwing the right Latino gang signs.

Gotten bad enough that a Hispanic kid was arrested outside Scranton High School with an AK-47, waiting for rival gang members to come out so he could shoot them. Kid was found to have MS-13 ties and was trying to "earn his merit badge" to become a full-fledged member while only 16 years old.

Way to go, Joe!

It's clear, that you are the sole cause of America's present decline.

If you wish to redeem yourself, head to the southern border, and continually walk its length back and forth. Just looking at you, all potential illegals will immediately turn back. A statue will be built in your honor (of course, the woke will quickly tear it down).

NJ? First thought was Newark.
Camden by far over Newark. Newark is at least semi-functional on a day-to-day basis. Camden is a non-functional crap hole on its very best days.

I still have nightmares over the two trips I had to make into Camden to get dockside with loads. I think the route between Kuwait and Bagdad when Iraqis were shooting at the trucks would be less stressful than driving thru Camden.

Just remember, Obama Care redefined "children" to include 18-25 year olds, including in medical statistics. So saying "over 40 children have been treated for GSW" includes a lot of gangbangers who are obviously trying not to live to their 26th birthday.

I always called Cincinnati the armpit of the world. I get to go through there tomorrow, can't wait..
