Barbados 1983, it was the staging area for transit to Grenada. We camped out in the old international terminal until our C-130 flight to Grenada. Interesting times if you were young like I was then!

Point Salinas (sp) Grenada. Only pic I got, things got a little exciting after that. If you Google Map the island, the runway the commies were building is in the south west corner of the island. The runway was built for Bear Bombers, it was so long that we were landing, unloading, and launching C-130s, C-5s, and C-141s all on the same runway at the same time.



Oh, and throw in helos flitting about....

USS Saipan flight deck off the coast of Grenada 1983. After that flight on an ARMY helo, you would have to hold a gun to my head to get me onboard one. Yeah, they just set the helo down on the flight deck without clearance to land. And that was the sane part of my flight.
