POL Secede From the Union

Remember that if you choose to secede you stand a very good chance to lose everything. If you are on any sort of govt pension, welfare, disability, Medicaid, SS, govt employee etc, that income and benefits are going to be gone. Probably most if not all retirement assets will be gone. Are you willing to give all that up? It is easy to say YES but how are you going to make a living in this new country? Generate income to find housing, food, medical care etc. Are you willing to truly live without some of those items? Start over at 40, 50, 60, 70 plus years old? What skills do you bring to the table for this new country? Are you physically able to support yourself? Why would this new country accept you?
That is the main question asked by Seniors in Alberta Canada about Pensions, when the question of Separatism comes up. But Quebec has solved that, so Alberta can too. Don't know the process, but the money you don't pay our in Equalization payments to the Fed.gov should cover that provincially. Probably work at the US State level too.

Secession IS NOT civil war. Civil war by definition is one side trying to overthrow the current government. Secession is a state's peaceful withdraw from the current government with no intent to change it.
In the War of 1812 there were New England states that threatened secession because ...they could, just as SC could in 1860. The left only fears death. They don't fear threats. They don't fear due process. They don't fear a constitution. They certainly don't fear God. They will only be persuaded through alternative means. At this point, they don't fear that will happen either.
civil war is the natural consequence of secession. The south tried it and TPTB refused to let them leave peacefully. I see nothing to make me think it will be different this time

Uh...the South shot first. If they had not done that, Lincoln might have had a bit of trouble calling up the State Militia. The States might not have seen anything to get excited about. But once shooting started...................

When the people decided to seceed, they gave notice that they were taking back THEIR territory, and the yankees would not leave. In order to establish their sovereign rights the only choices they were given was shoot or fold.

Really? How about ignoring the North? What could the North have done? They had no army to speak of. And they might have had great difficulty convincing the States that they needed their militia to enforce the use of Federal postage stamps.

I am not sure the South would have won considering the Brit weavers announced they would refuse to use US cotton grown by slave labor. That would have trashed the Sothron economy.

Said nothing about winning or losing, just what was. I see no other choice, South Carolina could not very well allow an armed enemy fortress to remain on their soil.
