That's fine. I'm not too keen on the idea myself. That has no bearing on the Vice Admiral paying the price for bucking policy and interfering with his superiors' diplomatic strategy.

2) ref Grenada... NEITHER you nor I KNOW what was going on in Grenada. The one thing I CAN say with ANY certainty is that the Med School Students in Grenada were a screen.

I have heard of discussions on Russian take over moves, and discussions on SLIGHTLY distant control of the Canal, and other areas in play when the whole Grenada action came down.

A good friend of mine who was better than tertiarily involved in Grenada (easier to lob than to catch Arty) pointed out that the folks who KNOW what was going on in Grenada, DO NOT TALK about that action, and those who talk about it don't KNOW.

Having a exercise off the coast of Cork would be an ideal position of things went hot, you could hit Shannon Airport , the main transit hub for all US .mil transatlantic flights.

Your also in close proximity to Plymouth, Portsmouth and Southampton docks in the UK, which would get you the Royal Navy and Royal Marines & SBS,

I just fail to believe this is a bluff from Putin. If that's the case it kind of backfired with Ukraine getting more weapons now than what they had 3 months ago.

Folks are right to be skeptical about regime change, but if you consider the logic, a compellance operation or a punitive raid doesn't make good sense in this case. Moscow has no way to enforce implementation of any agreement it imposes without regime change and/or occupation. 1/

Poland is getting these this just in time... Poland will buy 24 Bayraktar TB2 armed drones, produced by a Turkish company owned by Erdogan's son-in-law, Selcuk Bayraktar, with the first delivery slated for 2022. The contract will be concluded without a procurement process.

Back when I was in, circa 1974, it was a courtmartial offense to criticize Nixon publicly.

This guy violated the chain of command and disrepected his civilian superiors. He paid the price for it, even though he was, IMHO, correct in his assessment.

And if he wanted to go that route he should have said, "I'm resigning and this policy is why." And that would have been devastating to the German civilian government.:jstr:

Yes but the problem is that once those things are in the air everyone is going to assume nukes are in play. And even if they upon impact show that they aren't delivering canned sunshine the Rubicon's shores have been arrived upon.
