Saw this on Reddit. So far two Aldi locations confirmed, it appears. Somewhere in Connecticut and also in West Central Florida. Not gonna lie, I think it’s going to be a miracle if I can get one this year. We only have two stores that carry turkeys in our town of about 10,000 people. Last time I was at one of the stores about a week ago, they didn’t have any out yet. Hoping they came in this week.

Bought Milk Bone dog chews from Sam's yesterday to be delivered.

There were no toilet paper or paper towels available for shipping. The website said to check your local store for availability.

This has been going on for weeks.

By TP & Paper Towels when you can find them.

Not a problem here locally it’s a limit of one now. Canning turkey is a thing, just like canning cranberries, and fig jam. That’s causing the shortages.

Was in the Peoria, IL Sam's Club this morning. Store looked fairly well stocked, lots of pallets of water, soft drinks well stocked, but some with purchase limits. We didn't get too deep into the meat case, but most of the store was decently stocked.

Our central Indiana Kroger looked fairly well stocked, including hams ($$) and turkeys.
They have a small amount of those wonderful spiral glazed hams (I love those!) but wow, very expensive.

The only think about the turkey is every single one of them are massive HUGE sizes so that’s great for family dinners, but not so great for us two if I want one for the freezer. And they aren’t cheap.

I noticed holes in the frozen vegetables, canned tomatoes, and some random things like women’s razors, and footie socks, were very sparse.
Tyson has a good sale buy /one get /one for thighs, and legs.
Chuck roasts are on sale.

Unless I’m forgetting something it looked fairly normal today.

I keep hearing that “December 1st” date in my head over and over. I’m pretty much out of freezer space now, so, it is, what it is. Darn.

Did not go grocery shopping but made a delivery order today. Got Express free through March 2022 and $15 discount. They fished me in with delivery in as soon as two hours which is normal. When I got to check out it was an additional $2 for expedited within two hours. I skipped that and accepted by five pm for free. It still arrived in less than two hours.
Got every single thing I ordered and wanted, 19 items. Only issues, I got subbed a dozen of the store brand eggs when I wanted the eighteen pack. And a smaller heavy cream than I wanted.
The delivery also arrived with two register coupons in the bag for $3 off things I will buy next trip.
According the website pretty much I everything I order regularly was in stock.
There has also been a lot of good coupons I use and sales last two weeks also.
No shortages here today.
But regular unleaded is over $3.50 now.

And your area is? You're providing me with the price of gas where? Let me help. I'm in Austin and Valero is getting $2.89 for regular. Now the reader has some context from which to draw a conclusion. He might say to himself, "Hmmmm...Roadgeek is getting a real deal in Central Texas..." or he might think "...wow, that's insanely high!" But at least he'd have some point of reference.

If someone says to me that the price of "A" is $2.79, but doesn't tell me where they are, then it didn't happen. That product doesn't exist anywhere at that price, simply because I'm not told where the price was seen or paid. Why should I believe the poster without all the pertinent information?

Now some are probably thinking right about now that "Roadgeek is such a jerk....why, greysage and john deere girl have been posting here forever! Everyone already knows where they are!..." Except Roadgeek, who's been posting here for less than a year, and has no idea where greysage and john deere girl live.

Now, of course, come the inevitable calls...."He's rude. He was too direct. He wasn't diplomatic. He hurts peoples feelings when he says these things. Who does he think he is? He should have been more polite." Perhaps. But I have in the past suggested that posters let the rest of us know their location, so others have some basis of comparison, and I did so very politely. So what's left but snark?

Now, while others are working up a huff, I'm gonna go watch "Mannix".

Yanno... a polite request for location might have garnered a happier response, but I do agree that posters who describe conditions "here" should include at least a general geographic description. The info is essentially useless otherwise.

It's no problem, and I don't find you rude. I just forget sometimes to post location. Southside of Indy.

Report from BIL in Chicagoland; the Jewel in Glen Ellyn was completely out of any sort of beef. The space was being filled with turkey sausage and prepared meals.

OT but a huge dot; the animal shelters up there are seeing a huge increase in the number of dogs and cats being dropped off; I suspect people can no longer afford to keep them. He volunteers with a rabbit rescue (please don't laugh, he's serious about it) and he says those are being dropped off in substantial numbers as well. When people can't feed their pets......
I have been afraid of this.

:shk:
Many people went out and got "pandemic pets", some of which they had no business owning in the first place, as they have no idea how to properly care for them.

We see "exotics" such as pocket pets, rabbits, ferrets, reptiles and birds, in addition to cats or dogs. Since the pandemic started we have been seeing more of those kinds of pets than cats/dogs every day.

Nearly all the sick exotics are due to improper husbandry.

Well, over the last month or so, I've resorted to going to Amazon to buy vitamins and other OTC meds that are out of stock at my grocery store. Amazon is really, really slowing down their delivery times. I bought two items that were Prime items, shipped and sold from Amazon. I ordered them on November 8th. Expected delivery is this Friday. That's 11 days from the date of order.

Yep, they don't even have the Prime 2 day option on most stuff these days. If we didn't use their videos, etc, I'd cancel Prime..

We are working hard on eliminating amazon purchases.
We had ordered about three items prime in separate orders to be delivered within one to 2 days ...per the product...we are out in the country so it has been very beneficial to us to us them.

They finally shipped them with strange tracking numbers.
The first order was due to delivered. .but not out for delivery, it was something we really wanted delivered....so i called customer service add spoke with someone with semi english... I was told it didn't matter what day it was delivered..they then just cancelled the order.

Order number two was to arrive the next day
..called again. .somebody they hired would bring the package. I in private vechicle. .no id on vechicle... no uniform..I was sick and DH was already home from work...so he got the package from them..yes them..it was small suv full of non English speaking men....I called and hit the fan...not in my remote driveway..it was fine..because amazon hired them..they don't need any id. It is just fine. NOT
The 3rd package came in a blue amazon truck.

We do order a lot of vitamins from them....I have been reading the bottles and calling the companies and I am locating other ways to obtain the items with out using amazon. Some from the company directly.

We have placed no new orders with them and will not.
Vitacost and walmart...both with free shipping have replaced them for us
Fedex and usps bring their items

I will not pay for prime...to be abused by them..
Prime was ups, fedex and usps...

Grabbed my turkey this morning at Walmart because I like Honeysuckle better than Butterball. Got the smallest one they had....22.45 pounds! That is going to be a lot of leftovers, but you can't beat cheap meat!

Since I was there at 8 am...the store was way busier than normal at that time. Most people weren't wearing masks. Nice to see more faces!

Haha! Yeah...I don't know whatz up with all the big turkeys this year, probably lower capacity/slow at the processing plants, so the farmers had to keep them longer. I don't mind..we wuz raised on turkey, and still love it.

Meat store today...they were well stocked as usual. I was merely in need of their holiday sausage and a pork roast, but looking forward to picking up a half-dozen of their pasties..and darned if they said they didn't have any made! I guess that qualifies as a shortage...AND a major disappointment. ;)

Went to Lowe's and Walmart in McAlester Tuesday night to pickup supplies.

Lowe's did have areas in the electric dept that were short.

Walmart was well stocked including TP and paper towels, (but expensive). The candy aisle had major gaps. Bought a loaf of sourdough bread that looked yummy and makes great skillet toast. Didn't look at meat. There were many folks stocking up on groceries and others that were buying just a little groceries.

It appears that shortages are dependent deliveries which are impacted due to location and population.

The last time I posted about how empty the shelves were at our local Walmart was last week. I went to the same Walmart just yesterday. To my surprise, the store was well stocked, with only a shortage of TP. Shelves were fully stocked on everything else, and there were pallets of goods still waiting to be put on the shelves. If it's empty at one time, just wait a day or two, and it will be fully stocked again. I keep seeing this over and over again in my area. NE MS.

I just got back from the Dollar Store here in Norcal. There were employees in almost every isle stocking the shelves! Lots of product on shelves and in boxes waiting to go up. The store was busy and everyone seemed to be getting into a pleasant Holliday spirit. I'm hoping this will continue but time will tell. One thing...I have been looking for floss picks there for months now with no luck and this is something they usually always have on hand. I didn't ask any of the employees about them as it is such a minor thing, but for at least this visit almost everything appeared well stocked, clean and there were lots of employee help on hand. Nice! Happy early Thanksgiving everyone:apc:

I am in the Chicagoland area. I have yet to see substantial lack of product. I am going to stop at Jewel on my way home, just to take a looksie!

Last year, in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, our Governor wanted everyone to buy turkeys under 16 pounds to stop large family gatherings. He wanted snitches to report on those buying larger ones. Order people to do one thing, they're going to do the other. Mine was 28 1/2 lbs. :) After Thanksgiving, there was a glut of small turkeys. Sporadic sales, at .49/lb, went on to the following June.

This year, turkeys of all sizes are equally available.

interesting trip to Publix today in Waynesville NC . . . went to the cashier with 10 cans of Bushes Best Chilli Beans - 5 in hot chilli sauce and 5 in medium sauce (because there were no other hot left on the shelf). manager says I'm only allowed TWO . . . I'm like WTF is this about? he produces a "letter from management" which clearly states certain canned vegetables are now restricted to TWO CANS per customer.

I saw this letter myself. I did leave with 4 cans of beans - but only because 2 were in HOT sauce and 2 were in MEDIUM - therefore they were considered "two different products" . . .

I did go across the street to Ingles and bought six 24 oz cans of TottoRosso diced tomatoes and ordered another 12 cans which I'll pick up tomorrow with no anticipated problems . . . but the experience at Publix was . . . "interesting" to say the least.

looking more and more like soviet era USSR every day
