April 17 (Reuters) - Protests erupted in Kansas City after a white homeowner shot a Black teenager who rang the doorbell of the wrong house when he went to pick up his twin brothers.
Ralph Yarl, 16, was released from the hospital after being shot in the head and arm by a white man on the doorstep of the suburban home around 10 pm on Thursday, according to family attorney Ben Crump and the Kansas City Star.
Property records reviewed by the newspaper showed the homeowner was an 84-year-old man. Police declined to comment on his identity.

For a second day, protesters gathered at the single-story house on a tree-lined street, shouting "Black lives are under attack" and "Stand up, fight back," online videos showed.
"No child should ever live in fear of being shot for ringing the wrong doorbell," Vice President Kamala Harris tweeted in response to the shooting.

The homeowner was taken into custody, placed on a 24-hour investigative hold, then released pending an interview with Yarl and the collection of forensic evidence, Kansas City police Chief Stacey Graves said.
The case has been handed to the Clay County prosecutor's office for their review for charges, police said in a statement.
Crump demanded the homeowner be arrested and charged with attempted murder of a teenager described by his school district as an "excellent student and talented musician."
Missouri has a "stand-your-ground law" that allows homeowners to use physical force to defend themselves against suspected intruders.

The law says a person cannot use deadly force unless they reasonably believe it is necessary to protect themselves or another person against death or serious physical injury, or a possible felony.

I was reading this earlier today. I'm pretty sure there is some missing info but not enough to call this a good shoot. And my disgust was only compounded when I read that he had to go to 3 houses to get help. And the third house only helped after he laid down with his arms behind him.

I may be a hermit. I may not trust people. But there is no call for shooting someone for ringing the wrong doorbell. And definitely no call for refusing to help someone who has been shot.

For bloody sakes, just call the police, let the kid sit on your porch, and give him some basic medical supplies. Even I can find a way to do that without exposing myself to risk.

Doesn't sound like a good shoot. Shooting thru the door because the kid rang the doorbell? Is there any proof the kid was trying to break in? Doing damage? Malicious mischief? What? So he rang a doorbell and got shot? Unless there's something else? No this just sounds wrong. Color is not a factor. Wrong is just wrong.

Begs the question of the nature of recent events in that neighborhood....

To be honest...there is such a frenzy I am surprised they are not already executive order banning a lot of things.. Not like anyone can do anything about it.

This is all just too convenient for the gun-grabbers. Literally, we have NO clue as to what really happened prior to the teen getting shot. Perhaps he was threatening the home owner. Perhaps he pushed the door open. Perhaps he had a weapon himself. Perhaps he was attempting to rob the home owner. The story of him "going to the wrong address" could be completely false - a complete fabrication. Perhaps any number of threatening actions by the teen caused this.

Apparently, at first there wasn't enough evidence to keep the home owner in jail (which is why he was initially released). But as soon as the leftist media got hold of the story, political pressure was put on the cops to re-arrest the home owner and come up with a "cover story" of the teen being an upstanding young man with a great future ahead of him (ever heard that before?).

The point is: I don't believe the lying press. Ever. Why? Because they have a repeated history of hiding the truthful details of events like this, in order for the story to fit neatly inside of their "narrative".

Don't be so quick to believe any of the details in this case. THEY have an agenda here.

From what I have read and heard it was a bad shoot and no reason to shoot someone for standing on your front porch ringing the door bell.
The young man was at the wrong address and at the wrong end of town and sent to pickup his sister.

What you read and what actually happened, the six million dollar question these days. It is a total shame we can’t get the real story. They now have moved the victim from Surgeon to aspiring musician now!!!!

Now I'm seeing conflicting info now saying it was his twin brother he was picking up not his sister.

Guess they set bond before in custody? Maybe this is common. Do not know.

Charges filed in shooting of Kansas City teen who rang wrong doorbell

Story by Maggie Vespa and Marlene Lenthang and Melissa Chan and Erik Ortiz and Tim Stelloh • 43m ago

The Missouri man who shot a teenager who rang the wrong doorbell while trying to pick up his younger brothers was charged Monday with two felony counts, officials said.
An 85-year-old white man, Andrew Lester, has been charged with two crimes in the April 13 shooting of Ralph Yarl, 16, who is Black: assault in the first degree and armed criminal action, Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson said Monday.

An arrest warrant was issued for Lester, who is not in custody, Thompson said, adding that he didn't know where Lester was.
Lester's bond was set at $200,000, Thompson said.

I've have physically sheltered a woman who was shot/being shot at, and tried to render aid until such time it was clear she was beyond help
..but I still have to disagree with your assessment. There are too many unknowns in the story, or any situation where a stranger shows on your doorstep appearing wounded, to suggest that you should provide assistance beyond making a call to emergency services. It's as likely a set up or a danger to you, as an opportunity to show humanity and only a solid connection to your inner voice and well honed discernment will be able to tell the difference.

I'm not familiar with the neighborhood nor the case, but with the info as has been put in the public square, it was not a good shot, and we can be thankful the one shot survived and the one who'll see time for shooting has already lived a long and full life, presumably, before this occurred.

Unfortunately the VP is off and running with the bad optics, but it does look like this particular instance will be a boon and a win for their side of the narrative war. That there are such things as narrative wars instead of wise adults who's only concern is truth kinda stinks, but. . . it's where we are eh

I'm wondering if there's an elephant trumpeting in the room that people aren't bothering to talk about - especially the blacks >>> is this 84 yr old white guy a "left behind" in that neighborhood - is he the only white left that changed black a couple of decades ago? - has he been the victim of constant harassment? - has he been a crime victim? - What's the current neighborhood crime rate? - Was this shot kid ACTUALLY at the wrong address and was he looking for his siblings OR is his story 100% bullshit? - was he back again intimidating & harassing this old man? >>> I don't see anything about this old guy's motive or side of things ...

since when has the facts the blacks are using to promote rioting & division been 100% truthful??????

We haven't heard both sides of the story yet. We don't know what evidence exists or what evidence is being hidden.

Remember, don't talk to anybody, even the police.

Only talk to your lawyer, period.

We may get a whole different picture at the trial.

before COMMON SENSE and REALITY enter the discussion. what we see prior to that are FEELEEZZZLE jumping to conclusions - each and every one. how do YOU KNOW what happened? why do we blame the eighty four year old WHITE guy - - - BEFORE - - - we know the entire story? go watch sum knock out game videos. go watch the old people getting their ass beaten - some of them killed by kids younger than this. freaking PRE TEENS. what possible chance does an 84 yo dude have against this kid? how do we know this guy hadn't been threatened before or had the experience of being beaten by this demographic? how do you jump to such quick conclusions here?

could the old dude be a lunatic? ABSOLUTELY!!!!. but even you freaking handwringers out here KNOW that virtually 100% of the damage done when young black kids encounter old white people is
NOT to the young black kids but to the old white people. WTF is with you? at least stop long enough to catch your breath before you condemn the guy until you hear BOTH SIDES of it

post 14 - READ IT AGAIN. @Teeja is 110% correct. WHEN the rubber meets the road in this country - just a few short ticks of the clock from now - there's a whole lot of us that are going to get a real hard lesson in what IS and what IS NOT. get a grip and stop believing every thing that freaking tee vee tells you.
