It's real. As I understand it, it's a social critique re how blacks are portrayed.

I'll wait for it to show up free.

Blame Barack Hussein Obama- he tried to get the government, educators, and businesses to emphasize how Blacks made this country, as well as were responsible for all scientific advances since anyone but native Americans got here. White folks need not apply here, there, and everywhere. Not being wanted, we are irrelevant to history or the present. Obama- still One Big Ass Mistake, America!

So that Martin Luther King statement about "judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character" is so much hooey?

Maybe I should watch the movie first - then decide. There are high minded movies still being created - somewhere.

The hills are alive - with the sound of gunfire...

The film explores themes including masculinity and sexuality, with a specific emphasis on Black Power. It was filmed in Harlem, Greenwich Village, and Times Square within the Manhattan borough of New York City.[6] The Shaft soundtrack album, recorded by Isaac Hayes, was also a success, winning a Grammy Award for Best Original Score Written for a Motion Picture[7] and a second Grammy (shared with Johnny Allen) for Best Instrumental Arrangement

I give up.
Well......... movie is probably a stupid idea.

First of all the guy is only half-black and he speaks real English.

Second, he's in love with a white woman.

Not very ******y.

Well, the white Europeans were at a loss for creating the best society, so they imported the black scholars and societal engineers from Africa in the 17th & 18th centuries. From them we learned how to build skyscrapers, set up steel smelting factories, build rail lines and they even gave us the internal combustion engine and electricity. Magickal? You bet your ass! They would have given us the internet if Al Gore had not invented it first.

I am both offended and intrigued. From a sociological point of view..I'm interested. I never realized the black community saw themselves in the light of calming (or what ever) white people. I imagine after years of enslavement and literal caretaking of white people as enslaved on plantations that it makes sense that as a manner of self empowerment and/or self respect that they'd rather view themselves in that light. It looks like from the trailer that the main character seeks to break free from the old ..."we're going to take care of whitey" and do what's good for ourselves regardless if it makes whitey more dangerous. Whether we like the premise of this movie or not, people (ourselves included) will feel whatever we feel. I think it gives an interesting albeit disturbing insight into black American culture that I didn't know about before.

No. That is just all the propaganda and programming thru hollyweird that has them dreaming superiority.

Neither here nor there.

Blacks, for the most part, do not acknowledge the existence of native americans.

Oh there is always plenty of that going on as well I am by no means ascribing the sentiments of this movie to all black people either. There is however, obviously a percentage that view white people in this light. Racism flows in both directions.

I can’t help but wonder, is this movie based on that hit song,”Barack the Magic Negro,” who lives in DC?

More like a wider trope. "The Legend of Bagger Vance," for example, featured a "magical negro" that helped a white person in his time of struggle.

Several more examples here:
