It'll probably be a huge problem here come mid March with all of the college students going off to various beaches for spring break.
If you want to see when spring break starts at some colleges, I posted a link when I speculated about that. Some colleges start their spring break on February 29th.

Someone had mentioned the St. Patrick's day parade in NYC and the potential for spreading disease.
It just occurred to me that spring break for colleges is coming up in March. The number of Chinese students in this country has been discussed, along with how many have returned from China before starting spring classes.

The fact that the Arizona case was a student at Arizona State University that had returned from China worried me at the time because I wondered how many classes they might have attended, bookstores, parties, restaurants, etc.

Now you can close schools, churches, cancel public events and discourage public gatherings. But how can you stop hundreds of thousands of college students from going on spring break? They will travel, congregate in popular destinations, and gather in huge crowds for spring break activities. Those destinations are going to be one huge petri dish for transmission. Even the seasonal flu might get a huge kick start from this activity.

A quick search gave me this site listing spring break dates by university or college:

That's a LOT of colleges. It looks like it will start on February 29th for the first big group of colleges, and the last big group will start on March 21st.

Twelve days until we find out how big the college spring break exodus to party destinations will be.

We certainly do live in interesting times.

SAN DIEGO — One of the two patients who was being kept in isolation at UC San Diego Health's Hillcrest location was discharged Wednesday after recovering fully from novel coronavirus, according to hospital officials. U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention staff cleared the patient after rigorous testing to confirm recovery and lack of contagiousness.
There have been two confirmed cases of the coronavirus/COVID-19 in San Diego. Both of those patients were among more than 200 who were quarantined at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar after being evacuated from the area of Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the outbreak
Authorities said the patient released Wednesday is no longer under federal quarantine or isolation orders. One patient remains under observation at UCSD Health.
UCSD Health released the following statement on the patient's release:
"UC San Diego Health has been informed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that a patient under our care for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has fully recovered from the virus. The patient is no longer infectious and cleared for discharge. Patients who are cleared for hospital discharge have been confirmed through rigorous testing that includes consecutive negative test results provided by the CDC.
The patient was discharged today and is no longer under federal quarantine or isolation orders.
As the region’s only academic health system, UC San Diego Health specializes in the care of adults with complex illnesses, including infectious diseases more virulent than COVID-19.
Thank you to all UC San Diego Health team members, and federal, state and local officials, who have helped with the complex coordination of care for these individuals. We send well wishes to this patient and all those who have been affected by this situation."

After spending two weeks under quarantine, 166 people who were brought to Miramar on Feb. 5 were released Tuesday. Another 65 people arrived at Miramar Feb. 7 and were also placed under a 14-day quarantine.

Public Health Officer Wilma Wooten said roughly 63 of those people will be released from the quarantine Thursday, assuming none develop any signs of possible symptoms.
"We have successfully protected the residents of San Diego County," as well as those suspected of having the virus, Wooten said.

Worldwide, there have been more than 76,000 reported cases of the disease, with more than 2,100 deaths. All but eight of those deaths have occurred in China.

There are 15 confirmed cases of the disease in the United States, including one each in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

I know you can't hold people indefinitely but there may or may not be a dormant period which is being misconstrued as "reinfection" and the tests are woefully inaccurate... I hope they keep a close eye on those who are "fully recovered" and released...

That anti body dependent in the Xhris Martensen stuff really concerns me. Like this will be Dengue or. 2 And what happens to you and you get it the 2nd time period yet the 1st time and it's mild and you feel like you got off light. But then when the next wave comes…

Why is the mainstream media so scared of asking difficult questions about this coronavirus outbreak? At one time the United States had the greatest investigative journalists in the entire world, but today it is very rare to see any of our major news outlets go much beyond the basic facts of a story.

Those days were before six entertainment companies with a global footprint purchased or bought out what was known as media organizations in the U.S. including print, radio and TV. Very easy to control news now but thanks to the Internet we can circumvent them.

Sounds like you had what I had last week.

Keep in mind the rapid Flu test in the office is only 50-70% accurate, and or could be non A or B Flu. Since I presented with "classic" Flu symptoms but had a productive cough less than 24 hours or temp onset (spiking to 103 the night before) Dr also treated for pneumonia (2 mass doses of antibitotics). Still have lingering cough but it's only a week later.

It appears I as well am coming down with it now as well. Transported two pediatric patients Monday with Influenza A. One sneezed around her pacifier and I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and felt it hit my face. Oh well....

I mean, in thinking about this double infection thing, some experts are talking about a reinfection that could be several months apart (like dengue fever). But you guys are onto something. What if it’s only weeks apart? Or a month apart? How horrific would it be to get it once, be “healed” and recover from it, only to get reinfected shortly afterward and die? I mean, that could be why some people are falling over from a heart attack (or whatever).

Not saying that’s how this virus plays out, but Lord have mercy... if that’s possible, this could be more catastrophic than anyone could ever imagine. Just thinking aloud here. I’d love to find some deeper research on this possibility.

I'm also recommending if you have any stuff that does
not make you money, or save you money on essentials,
or is prepper goods, you might want to garage sale get
rid of while you can still get good $'s for it before every
body is trying to do the same thing later in a wild panic
and then nothing is selling for much, if even at all.

When the sheeple start selling junk, it will not be the time to buy since you will not know if the goods are from infected or if infected have handled the goods....

5 coronavirus patients headed to Spokane hospital for treatment
by KXLY-TV News & KOMO News Staff
Thursday, February 20th 2020

SPOKANE, Wash. — Five patients who have tested positive for the coronavirus that caused an outbreak in China are enroute to a Spokane hospital for treatment.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services asked Spokane's Sacred Heart Medical Center to treat the five patients because the hospital is one of only 10 in the nation with secure airborne infection isolation rooms.

KXLY-TV News in Spokane reports that state and local health officials did not immediately say where the patients with the COVID-19 virus were coming from.

Todd Woodard with the Spokane Airport said the patients landed around 11 a.m. They were brought through a private terminal on the east side of the airport for transport to the hospital.

Sacred Heart's 14,000-square-foot isolation unit contains 12 patient rooms, including two critical care rooms. When used for the most acute care circumstances, the unit can care for up to 10 patients, KXLY-TV News reports.

“This is all being done following our jointly developed infectious disease protocols that we train and prepare for,” said Dr. Bob Lutz, a health officer with the Spokane Regional Health District. “The risk to the public from this novel coronavirus remains low.”

When officials quarantine patients in your town, in your hospital,
this is the proper response.
