Closest city of size is Live Oak, FL. We started with a heavy rain band. Still raining thirty minutes later. I've been through this way too many times. Not freaking. Never done it here at the BOL so we'll see how things go. Time to experience something new I reckon. LOL

Not making light of folks who are scared or who have or may suffer from this storm. Just this is Florida, 'canes are what we do. And I'd rather do 'canes than 'quakes or 'nadoes.

Nothing much 10 miles west of Daytona Beach. It was super hot today, right at 100 and so humid breathing was hard this morning. I think it is going to mostly miss us here.

Hey! We were there today. Did the east coast from New Smyrna Beach all the way up to Jacksonville bypass to I10 then headed to our BOL. And it was incredibly hot and humid. This morning was nice but in the afternoon ... gag. I got a little fried just walking around Flagler Beach and the surfers were out in force.

Thanks Thinwater. My brother lives in Southern California and last year he bought a house in Daytona Beach. He plans to retire there in 5 years. I appreciate your report on Daytona Beach.

Dunnellon area. Getting some heavy rain now at 6:45 am but according to the radar, the worst is past us. Looks like we might see some 40+- mph wind but it looks like another "non-event" for our area.

We're between Ocala & Crystal River/Yankeetown areas, south of the Big Bend area. I've read that the last hurricane that made a direct hit here was before they started naming hurricanes.

day late

money? whats that?
Can't say it's a good morning, but it ain't that bad. We had a couple of heavy storms overnight, but not really that much wind. This morning the rain isn't heavy but is almost non-stop. Oddly we seem to be getting more wind now than we did last night. I wouldn't want to be outside right now, but it isn't really dangerous.

Beautiful day in Ft Myers, FL today! SO different from Ian last year, many people are breathing big sighs of relief. I know whats in store for people in north florida in the coming weeks and months. And georgia, maybe the carolinas... Be safe and praying for you!

One of the ladies who works with us lives near Live Oak. She reported that her family evacuated to Alabama, so they are fine. She sent a few pics showing trees down in the yard, but the house is undamaged. My brother and his wife live in Hudson, north of Tampa. If you stand on the corner of his lot, bend over and look left, you are looking into the Gulf of Mexico. He reports 7" of water in the house. That has been cleared out, but now everything has to dry out. At high tide, the sea wall is sticking at least two feet out of the water. The house is about another foot or so above that. So, we have an idea of the storm surge.

Just saw some pics on Facebook - looks like Crystal River is flooded and the tide is coming in. There are some pics at "Pete's Pier" in Crystal River on Facebook if anyone wants to see them.

Crystal River/Ozello/Homosassa usually flood every time a big storm passes through, though.

This is one of the main intersections in CR - Hwy 19 & Citrus Av. Hwy 19 is the "Sun Coast Parkway" and is a major evacuation route is case of a hurricane in south Fla. It's probably a foot deep on the sidewalks. Crystal River is spring fed but it's close enough to the Gulf so the water is brackish - especially after the storm surge.

It is north of us now. SE GA. We do expect rain and wind for an hour or so, but all is well. We did not flood much here, so it came out better than expected.

Funny thing though, lost both Fox News and TB2K on line though. Everything else worked, but those two webpages.
