Granddaughter was sent home from school last Thursday because more than 5 people in her classroom had tested positive.
She only had a headache and a sore throat, developed a cough over the weekend. Couldn't get an appointment or tested until Monday. Still waiting for results.
Youngest grandson developed a cough over the weekend too. They also tested him on Monday.
Strep has been rampant this year and several cases of flu recently. Both were negative for strep, flu and something else.
None of the covid results are back yet and the school does not accept the rapid test results to get back into class.
I found out yesterday that my oldest grandson's girlfriend's parents in another county had both tested positive sometime in the last week or two. Girlfriend tested negative. Grandson tested negative today on rapid test, but because he is nauseous and has a bad headache, they also sent off for the longer test; still waiting on those results.
I don't know the girlfriend's parents and suspect they are over it by now anyway.
I have not added anyone to poll numbers since no results back yet. If any come back positive, I will add between 1 and 4, maybe as high as 9 if everyone in close contact ends up positive after all. (DH and I were both around them a few times during the last two weeks, but only prolonged contact was on first and for tornado warnings. I have been sneezing, but it feels like a regular old-fashioned cold to me.)
My family (except DH) have all had covid at some point or another over the last two years with other variants and they had all been a lot sicker than any of them are now.
If they test positive, since symptoms are so much milder than what they had before, it should be the omicron variant which is not very bad. Delta and omicron are the variants running thru Bama at moment.
Also, DD just texted that she has now started running a fever. (100 at moment, so not too bad)
ETA: also, DD said all schools in her county will be closed until at least next Tuesday. (decision was made yesterday)
