FRAPPR (US map of TB2K'ers)

Here is a new Beta map that allows one to create their own pushpin, to zoom in/out and to switch from map to satellite imagery.

Some groups I belong to see this as a tool to facillitate mutual assistance and collaboration on projects prior to or during a SHTF scenario. Here, it may not be for everyone as many seem very concerned over their private location.

Is trhis appropriate for TB2K?

I wondered about it also while reading the thread in the BS. I figured no one would be for it as most would rather be secretive about their whereabouts.

I'm on it on several groups and don't mind...in fact I think its pretty interesting.

What is there to lose? I think it's cool, Bill.

Those who don't want to participate, don't participate.

I say, go for it!

I'm on another board that has a map. The moderator requested people to pick a town that was not their own, but was within 50 miles.

I'm already on one too - a homeschooling one. I have no problem with it, but know that others would.

Cool I added myself. It just lists your name(TB user name) so we'll know who you are and zip code...no address is required for those who worry about that. It would be cool to see it fill up. Come on Texas people put your pin on the map.

As a semi-public figure, it's pretty easy to find me. On the other hand, there's not much in the house that anyone would want.

Cool Tessa!

Hey it's got a group forum tab on our page also, where you can post messages/discussion..... so maybe we could use that if the board goes down to communicate and or to set up TB local areas planned meetings/events in the future.

Cool! I didn't know we had a member in Sevierville. We go there (Pigeon Forge) on vacation every year or two.

Word... Check out my hip avatar.

And yes, I really do look like Gordon Freeman. I get kids coming up to me all the time, thinking I'm him.

I put my old location before Katrina, there is nothing there so no one could steal anything. LOL But I am still in Louisiana somewhere.

Tech help needed!

I tried the shout out message, it printed twice. When I tried to edit it down to one, it added that too. So, now I've now got the message in triplicate. Suggestions anyone?

David

P.S. I'm the nut near DC.

Edited: P.P.S. - Still, it's very cool! Even if I am technologically challenged.

A shoutout is like a chatroom line of text. Once you submit it, it's "out there". You can't edit or delete it like you can a post in a forum.

Dennis,

Thanks for the clarification. But, does that mean I can go to another sticky and "shout out" on their info page? And that others can do the same to me? And that we can have a running chat at each sticky?

No, I wasn't planning to, but the location heckling possibilities are out there.

Hey - looks like I'm the only one manning the northern border over here in Idaho! Quick someone else help me out here, gotta sleep sometime!!

This is a great idea! Nice to see how many of us are sprinkled across our Motherland.

BTW - I likewise agree, this post should be given a front row seat from here on out. Too important to let sink away into the abyss.

I logged out, then tried to log back in. I was asked for a password. I don't remember setting up a password.

I did the "forget your password" thing, but I am not receiving the password e-mail from frappr.com.

Wassup wit dat?

When I put my location in late this morning, there were still only a dozen. Now there are 81(at last view). This is kinda' fun.
I've scrolled thru the map and I know that there are members in the UK, and at least one in asia(mainland China, I think).

My location is off by a bit since it only requires the zipcode.
-missed me by 10 blocks or so, as a crow fly's.

More I'd like to say about this FRAPPR thing, but hmm...
(thoughts of a Poll)
-great;)

Cool idea!!

Surely I cannot be the only one in TN though???!!!

Nope. I'm guarding the western border!!

It told me my zip code was invalid, though. Better inform the Post Office!!

Ok - I registered, but have no idea how accurate the map is, since I CAN'T SEE IT!! :shkr: I guess this puter I'm having to use is too antiquated to display it properly... :turk2:
