Probably true overall. I was working the numbers as follows: Half of 13% is the men half at 6.5%
Breaking that down with about 10% of their men in each decade of life 0 through 70 (reducing as they get older) leaves around 2.5 to 3% of the US population as black males in the high murder group of 15 to 40 year olds. You could probably reduce that to 15 to 30 and not lose to many murders and get an even higher rate per person.

Exactly! I'd love to see accurate statistics (dream on, I know!) about violent crime stats by race before and after Obama. Many here posted personal anecdotes about how attitudes in the demographic changed hugely after his election, and not for the better. I know my own attitude, which was essentially color blind ( we hosted several "Fresh Air Fund" kids from NY city over the years... all black kids, mostly from the ghetto, and really enjoyed most of them), started changing when my son was mugged. He had wrecked his new-to-him car when a deer jumped off and overpass onto the hood, and so he wax riding his bicycle home from work at a machine shop at 1 am (going to college during the day) when 6 feral POS jumped him, beat him up and stole his bike.
2 cops saw him staggering along the sidewalk a couple minutes later, and within minutes found the perps, still in possession of the bike. So far... ok, it's a dangerous risk to walk/ride alone at night in many cities... it sucks, but let the justice system take care of it.
My attitude permanently curdled when a female public defender called me and asked us to drop the charges against the group leader... a kid so big the cops were going back to his holding cell to marvel! (6'5", 290#) She said a conviction would ruin his chances to play football at Ohio State the coming fall! He was going to lose his free ride!
I exploded on her, saying it was a miracle DS hadn't been killed... he'd already had two *severe* closed head injuries as a teen, and thankfully "only" had a mild concussion from the beating from the 6 demons.
Her response? "Oh! I didn't realize they hurt him!" Grrr... why do you think they were charged with felony assault and battery, you stupid *itch?!
That, BTW, was before Obama... if it had happened after, they probably would have stomped him to death for fun.
The cops told DS if he absolutely HAD to travel that area at night, to be armed and prepared to use his weapon. They said "we'd have to arrest you if it happens, but you'll at least be alive!" They also told him they on,y went in that area with 2 cops per car, "with the shotgun unsnapped".
It's absolutely not all people with black skin, but a large enough percentage that you can't trust any of them.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A Hazelwood East High School student remains in critical condition Monday night and a 15-year-old girl is in juvenile custody after a disturbing fight near the school's campus.
Video of that attack from Friday afternoon has gone viral on social media.
The 15-year-old suspect is currently being held by St. Louis County Family Court on assault charges, but experts say that could change.
The video, which 5 On Your Side is not showing due to its graphic nature, captured a student's head being smashed into the pavement repeatedly.

Tina Meier, founder and executive director of the Megan Meier Foundation, lost her 13-year-old daughter who died by suicide after excessive bullying in 2006. Her story in O'Fallon, Missouri, gained national attention.
Now Meier is teaching teenagers how to de-escalate their differences without violence. She travels across the country teaching kids how to speak to adults they trust about their anger so it doesn't reach a boiling point, educating them as early as 5th grade.
Watching the viral Hazelwood cellphone video, "it was horrifying," Meier said. "Watching all of those kids standing around."
The victim and suspect's names haven't been released because they are both minors.
That's a requirement by state law, said Dr. Dyan McGuire, director of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Saint Louis University,
In order for a case like this to escalate outside of juvenile court, McGuire said, "for very serious offensives the statue provides for an automatic hearing to see if this child is an appropriate subject of juvenile jurisdiction court or not."
St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell said on social media Sunday:
"This is sickening and so difficult to watch. In Missouri, by law our office has no jurisdiction. This is a Juvenile court matter, unless it is certified...and by law, certification is not our decision either. We pray the victim makes a full recovery. This is just heartbreaking."
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said in a social media post Sunday that the suspect should be tried as an adult.
The certification decision is up to the juvenile court officials. A hearing date hasn't been announced. McGuire said if the victim were to die, the suspect could be facing first- or second-degree murder charges.
"When you put something out on social media and it goes viral, and it is as horrific as this was, now you're going to get the aftermath of people are going to be saying things," Meier said. "The social media is going to continue. It's already on TMZ."

I have posted it on her in the past…but the legislative justice arm of our country is broken. I worked at a company and someone attempted to steal three properties from us in same county. they got possession and took over. It took money and time but we regained possession. The frustration as everyone laughed at us when we tried to get someone to prosecute the thieves for many felonies they committed. No one cared at all. Tried hard. Multiple police departments. Sheriff. Etc. they all said you are right. 100%. Civil matter. But move on. We are not prosecuting. We won many court cases. Civil. The theives Have never paid a dollar. Long StOry. We eventually quit as we were unable to keep spending legal fees. The thieves were not citizens. So they changed their identity eventually. We had them for 18 months. Assets where they lived. Yes. Multiple felonies. It was not civil. But no one cared.

We used to have (and may still do) a few African American members on this board. I know because they would write me private e-mails. They agreed with some of what is being said here (I said some, not all). They knew the reality wasn't skin color, though it was divided this way in the United States, but a complete breakdown of their mainstream culture, especially in urban areas.
One member told me about how his parents talked about how there was a sense of community in the "old days," even in urban areas. Older people would chastise young couples for "acting married" if they were not married. Some of the breakdowns were blamed much further back than Johnson, but to the 1940s and 1950s when good jobs in factories (for black and white men) started to go away and the welfare systems at the time only provided for women with no men in the house. Social workers would come and search and even look under the bed for a "man in the house." So between that and the "reforms" under Johnson, the "Man in the House - married or not" became the "Man not in the house" within another generation is "The Baby Daddy."
When I worked at AFDC (Administration for Children and Families) in the early 1990s, this mistake was being corrected. Still, it was too late to change the new "family" pattern the welfare systems had created (mainly on the State level). This also affected European Americans and Native Americans in some places (Applacia, Reservations), but it affected urban African Americans the most. You now have at least three generations of a "family," being Momma and her babies—maybe a grandmother and an auntie or three in that community.
I don't know how to change things. The same thing has happened in Ireland, and most of the families affected are white, but the Baby Momma-Baby Daddy, a single-parent family in urban areas, is the same. So is the growing gang culture and the violence, theft, drug use, and other problems that accompany it.
I've posted before that the one thing we know in Anthropology, even if it isn't "PC" to admit it, is that all cultures, even ones where women are potent decision-makers and leaders, know that boys need men in their lives. Either a father (or grandfather if Dad is dead) or The Mother's Brother (the Uncle who teaches you to be a man and is the Father figure).
What I am not saying is that it isn't a lot worse among African Americans at this point in the USA than some other groups. What I am saying is that you can find the same sorts of behavior in different racial groups, including White Europeans, when you have a similar cultural (and economic situation) going on. The specifics vary slightly, but the basic problems are similar and ugly.

I have some anecdotal evidence to add to the mix, it confirms all races do commit murders.
I was a detective and fully trained crime scene tech for 9 years of my 20 years as a cop. We had 1 to 5 murders per year. I worked the scene of 100% of those murders while I was a detective and assisted with others after being promoted.
We had two, yes, two murders committed by a white suspect while I was a detective. One was a rapist working toward his serial killer merit badge, I personally got him before he achieved it, as far as we know, but he was not from our city, he just brought his hookers there to abuse and murdered one.
The second one was a guy named Cassidy Stapleton from Ohio down here while skipping out on parole for armed robbery. He murdered his partner in crime for threatening to turn him in.
After I was back in the road as a Sgt we had a white guy shoot a former co worker during an armed robbery. We had one other shoot into a crowd of people during a bar fight, killing one.
My son has worked up to 5 black on black murders as a homicide detective, in ONE neighborhood in 6 months, in the same city. The murder rate is now double what it was when I was there and rising, but only in the black population.
So all races murder each other, some about 500% more than others based on what my own eyes saw over 20 years
