Live Free & Die Free.... God Freedom Country....
I think my cat just saved my life and I have the urge to share it.

Few years ago, Max notified me that my father has stopped breathing in his sleep and probably saved his life too. Today, it seems it was my turn.

I'm alone at home, eating breakfast. And I started choking. I know what to do in such cases, but it didn't work. The cat was running around me in panic until he just jumped onto me and headbutted me in the lower jaw, really hard. I bit my tongue, and it somehow worked. I could cough it up.

I know he couldn't know what he was doing, but he actually did right. I still feel lightheaded and got a wound on my tongue so tomorrow there will be a doc appointment awaiting (today everything's closed), but I can breathe.

Max is still circling around, with that scared face.

Cats (and dogs) ability to sense things is way beyond human capabilities. A few years ago we had paranormal activity. Our cat sensed them and alerted us to we could see them. She also chased them around the room.

Speaking of puppies.... According to the shelter he was just over 2 years old when we got him, but I always suspected that had to be wrong, he was such an avid chewer.

Here's a pic taken sometime the first year after we brought him home (I don't believe the date on the photo).Warp2013SShoeShamingx1000.jpgThis was clearly before we clued into the necessity of bully sticks and the like. (There ARE dog toys to the right of the image.)

The orange thing is a pull-type hard rubber toy. There was probably at least one other toy there too - I tried everything. He clearly preferred my shoes. (When my DD came home from college, he demolished a pair of her flipflops that she'd had since 7th grade, AND went into her open suitcase to extract and chew a new pair of leather boots/shoes. She was furious!) The only thing that worked to stop the chewing depredations was bully sticks.

I had a two shelf bookcase on the end of my desk in the farm office. That was also where Bandit's bed was. The bookcase was loaded with cookbooks and a few dog training books. One day, I came back in from the barn to discover he'd pulled two books from the shelf, and completely destroyed them... the Monks of New Skete dog training book, and their pulpy training book! They weren't shelved together, either!
