My apologies if this is drift. However, there is a new book out by Michael Ruppert named "Crossing the Rubicon."
I just bought and rec'd it. Ruppert is an ex-LA cop who stumbled upon drug trafficking by the intelligence community - and moved on from there. This book ties Peak Oil into the current geo-political struggles, including 9/11. I just started it and it will likely be very controversial. Apparently, however, he has really solid documentation for the facts he presents in the book. So far, it's very fascinating. Ruppert is also the From the Wilderness guy: http://www.fromthewilderness.com/
Here's the book if you're interested. The first part, "Motive", is a detailed and scary discussion of Peak Oil, which I've only started.

I personally don't think it strange that we have two oil boys in charge, and I recall reading that Condi Rice was also on an oil board. IMHO - We are in a war for resources. So yes, Iraq is a war for oil. Not that I disagree, but it will eventually run out. Prepare emotionally for that eventuality.
