DOOM LOOMS

My apologies if this is drift. However, there is a new book out by Michael Ruppert named "Crossing the Rubicon."

I just bought and rec'd it. Ruppert is an ex-LA cop who stumbled upon drug trafficking by the intelligence community - and moved on from there. This book ties Peak Oil into the current geo-political struggles, including 9/11. I just started it and it will likely be very controversial. Apparently, however, he has really solid documentation for the facts he presents in the book. So far, it's very fascinating. Ruppert is also the From the Wilderness guy: http://www.fromthewilderness.com/

Here's the book if you're interested. The first part, "Motive", is a detailed and scary discussion of Peak Oil, which I've only started.

I personally don't think it strange that we have two oil boys in charge, and I recall reading that Condi Rice was also on an oil board. IMHO - We are in a war for resources. So yes, Iraq is a war for oil. Not that I disagree, but it will eventually run out. Prepare emotionally for that eventuality.

OK,let's cut to the chase.
I have a question. How are we, regardless of who is in the WH, going to stop terrorism tomorrow morning with the borders open, freight terminals unchecked and our disjointed FBI, CIA?
I don't really see us stopping someone from walking across the border with an Ebola virus.
So tell me, how safe we are?

Unpleasant facts should be ignored, as they infringe upon oil profits and slaughtering iraqis, thus creating more martyrs who can slip in through arizona, who create more terror and force the government to declare martial law and become all powerful.

Too bad the dollar will crash and we won't be able to afford a couple of destroyers in the Persian Gulf, let alone aircraft carriers, let alone "homeland security".

Easy there Mr. 26 posts, I've been around this block a few more times than you have.

Re-read these posts, it's clearly stated this isn't a Bush/Kerry thing.

You can't even *see* what this thread is about, maybe you should stay off it...

Whoa there yourself, Mister 1460+ posts....I didn't realize that on this board the only way was to have credibility or make a point was determined by the number of posts you have. I guess I'll have to start running up my total count here with worthless posts like "yeah I agree" or "can you feel it?" so that I can become as credible as you. :kk1:

You obviously missed the point of MY post....I agreed with you...the doom is gonna be there no matter what - no matter who is in office. But I don't think that it is any greater or less now that the election is over. The only difference would be in how the current Prez handles the threat - which leads to the sense of "Doom" that people have.

Good perspective - The glass is half full.
I'm saying let's not overlook what is before us and how do we resolve it, because I don't think the government will.
Can we find a way as a people?

That about sums it up!

Were you sleeping on 9/11?

Is "sleeping" a good survival strategy?

If someone sees the storm coming you fault them for battening down the hatches. For getting the animals in the barn, for warning others to do the same?

Now is the time to finish getting ready so you can rest (assured) during the storm.

Can't you feel the wind picking up?

Nothing wrong with being prepared. Preparing is a GOOD thing. Bad things do occasionally happen and always will. We do have some type of major terrorist attack here in the US every few years and have for a long, long time. That is not likely to change.

The thing that bothers me about some on this forum is the persistant "OH MY....OUR WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!!" and the "Yes, I can *feeeeel* it, a disturbance in the force is upon us" and junk like that. The constant pessimism is ridiculous.

I don't think we will be able "connect the dots" to predetermine anything before it happens. It will be a surprise to us all. I also believe that it will directly effect very, very few of us when *it* happens. Emotionally it may effect us, like 9/11, but few of us will be DIRECTLY effected. That's just my guess and of course I could be wrong.

As far as sleeping as a survival method  , well, statistically it probably is better than worrying about this stuff all the time. On 9/11, the worst attack on US history, 3000 people lost their lives out of a population of 300,000,000. That means that 1/100,000 suffered a decrease in life expectancy. However I would venture to guess that there is a much greater chance of reducing one's life expectancy by excessively worrying about such things all the time. (This coming from a guy who excessively worries about OTHER stuff  ).

At any rate, like I said, I have absolutely no problem with people prepping and being prepared and aware. Of course that is a wise course of action. I just don't like to watch people lying to themselves about us always being on the edge of the worst doom ever to hit our planet. It just aint so! ;)

Obviously you haven't *read* this thread, nobody is worrying, posters are saying they can *see* the storm brewing--ridicule at your own peril.

As far as "connecting the dots" you weren't here in your current persona for 9/11 so maybe you should seek an education. Many on this forum knew the world was askew. The ability to *listen* to this is invaluable. Are there misfires--maybe but we never really know what was about to happen but this time was diverted because of awareness. For you to reduce 3000 fellow citizens loosing their lives to actuairial science is worth a spit. Shame.

Prove we're not on the verge of the worst doom to hit our planet(which no one ever said)...

I'd rather go with the *seeers* on this one.
