96 rounds down range:sldr::sh1a:.....HOW MANY HITS?!?! :shr:

Sure seems like a bit of over kill or a hellva lot of misses. Maybe more time on the range for those officers?!?
Well 50 came from one guy so there is that. And I don't know if they discounted the shots from the dead perp. That was 8 to11

Unbelievable!
If you watch the video they had no way of knowing whether he was armed. The first time they encountered him not only was he armed but he shot at them at least 8 times so when they made their way to him they were yelling at him to let go of the gun. "did you fear for your life?" Is it at all reasonable that an officer would be in fear for their life after being shot at 8 times and a fellow office was hit?

There’s a reason that a jury is made up of your peers. There’s a reason that a military court doesn‘t use civilians in their juries for their trials concerning military members involving military issues. The same should be done for law enforcement officers. You need to walk a mile in their shoes to make judgements about their actions.

Qualified immunity for Leo’s exist for a reason. They do society’s bidding. There was a point that arrests for domestic violence weren’t routinely made. There was a time that dwi arrests weren’t routinely made. There was a time that stop question and frisks were not aggressively used.
Now if you go look into police actions, they are very common and a primary reason for police community tensions.
We as a society send the police as the first intervention with the dirtiest and sometimes most evil realities of society. And then when the interaction goes not according to someone’s neat little plan. It’s not the fault of the bad guy but the fault of the poor shlub sent to clean up society’s mess.

Not knowing all the facts, let's just agree that the cops have seen their fair share of violence against them. They are antsy. It's best to comply with all directions by any cop with a gun pulled.

It's also smart to have a GoPro in the car, streaming to the cloud with a copy of the file sent to your husband!

Respectfully, the actions of the police should be judged in complete transparency solely by prevailing law that satisfies the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

Also,

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? is a Latin phrase found in the Satires (Satire VI, lines 347–348), a work of the 1st–2nd century Roman poet Juvenal. It may be translated as "Who will guard the guards themselves?" or "Who will watch the watchmen?".

I’m not saying the police should be judged by different rules, or in anything but full transparency, just by different people. Many of people judging you now are not fit to judge. Their judgement is clouded by prejudice, anger and myriad of things. For example I give you trumps prosecution for molesting that women some 40 years ago in a dressing room. She didn’t know the. Year time or any details and yet was found guilty and she was awarded some 80 million $$

Everyone here complains about the actions of Alvin Bragg, the ny county district attorney. Yet he was elected by those same people that could be sitting on your jury.

Good point.

A rouge prosecutor and a hand picked jury of disgruntled cretins will skew things.

Hopefully an appeal will bear fruit.

Oh no, you misunderstood my Unbelievable!
What they did was spot on. My disbelief was that a reporter could be so stupid to possibly think that!

You have an incredibly good perspective of the reality of this situation. Thank you

Yes hopefully an appeal will bear fruit. However most people can’t afford to adequately defend themselves in the initial trial, how many can afford an appeal.
They have public defenders to make backroom deals like the rest of us who do not have a union rep or a union to pay out our bills for high dollar attorneys. They should be able to sell everything they own to help pay their bills like the common man. Then they will know the struggle is real!

Isn't it odd that all of a sudden the man who represents the state to help prosecute and gain convictions on your testimony and actions is now not your attorney and that he is now your enemy trying to send you away for a period of time. Doesn't make sense, does it! That this same prosecutor who was good enough to send your aresstee' to prison or jail is now not good enough to try you for your crimes? Why? Because he is bias and a rogue prosecutor!

:prfl:

Welcome to the Party Pal, the struggle is real!

This will turn into a full blown shitshow. As if oddly on cue.

It was Laquan McDonald that brought us the Chicago police oversight committee, Supt. McCarthy having to end his career and Mayor Rahm's never fully recovered either. It was the end as it was the last white mayor/white police chief duo, ushering in the era of total incompetence ever since. In particular regarding riot response to BLM/Antifa. Cops retired or simply relocated in droves after the dust settled.

In Laquan's case, the perp was slashing tires on a copcar on dinner break at the Burger King. Employees called in the 9-11 after they threw him out of the restaurant and he went on the tire slashing spree in the fast food parking lot, employees, customers vehicles etc. Cops told him repeatedly to drop the knife yet he refused. As I recall he was hit 16 times. There was an eruption back then it was overkill yet he presented a clearly unstable threat out on the streets that night, brandishing a knife & boldly advancing on police.

Compared to this wild ass firefight with Dexter Reed, the takedown of Laquan seems like precision drilled marksmanship in glaring contrast.
The quality of city officer has slid deeply. And the best skilled apply elsewhere. It is a miracle they have cops at all. Dexter appears to be no angel either. It will end badly for all.

I wonder what the recruitment numbers look like for CPD? There is no incentive anymore for skilled, intelligent people to become police officers. Why would anyone want the job?

Experienced cops are retiring as soon as they become eligible. This is more than a numbers problem. Who is left to mentor and train new cops?

Why make an arrest when the perp will be let out immediately without bail? Then the charges get dropped anyway. Why would anyone put themself in a position where they could be the next Derek Chauvin?

Seriously, I rewatched all the media on youtubes re: Laquan and CNN Wolf Blitzer said with a straight face "...the Chicago police just shot a boy while jaywalking in the street..." nothing about the knife, slashing tires, under influence of street drugs and posing a threat of harm to himself or others. Cops did us all a favor.

They deliberately incite the public upheavals in the hysteria that follows. This will be milked for max velocity potential. Count on it.

There was a dent in the driver side door of Dexter's brand new car he just bought 3 days prior. I suspect a back story is coming. Wait for it.

Big dent in the door....

The full press event with family and attorney, Fox Chicago has the unedited version. They demanded in 2014 the CPD go under consent decree and now have subpar force on street detail. This was the inevitable result of buckling under public pressure back then and losing more experienced officers.

Very sloppy & will ignite by design.

Just guessing but I suspect that range time consists of shooting at a target at a specified distance, maybe 30 feet (?) 10 yards and that was it. With 59% on paper?

When real range time should be putting you under stress, and targets at various unknown distances.

Had an Air Force version of NCIS shooting instructor put some of us under stress during a shoot, the guy could literally make you go poo poo on the range, and targets at various ranges, with multiple targets on the same paper and loosing points for anything outside of the 10 ring.

One of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. Jim Bob McCarthy You're welcome to google him, at one time held 10 national titles.

Here is a link to his qualifications to many to post here. He's at Trigger time in Tupelo.

I studied under and emulated bill jorden
No second place winner
He was a border patrol agent 40’s through the 70’s
He engaged in numerous gunfights with illegal aliens
And survived
He perfected the quick draw and designed a specific holster just for that. The Jorden holster
It was designed for police officers of the time to accommodate patrol car riding
It was a very fast holster
He stressed two shot kills
Oh
And he derided and scoffed at “wing” shots said they would get you killed

I still have my Jorden holsters
They were a drop bucket. Tilt forward and a strap

Cool and I wasn't being derogatory to you in particular, but rather the method of range time which is common for cops, at least in my area.

Which is go to the range once a month shoot up a box or ammo at a target and go home. This range is outside, and down in a sort of gully and people on the road can stop and watch the cops at the range.

Much more to story. Dent in driver side door, plain clothes officers, after shooting car attempts to move forward. He hit two black officers by the way so not racially motivated at all. I bet it was a felony stop, and that firearm would put him right back in; hence firing at officers.

I slowed the video down to one quarter speed and watched the first 30 seconds of it. It appears that there was another person, I'm assuming another plainclothes cop, black cop white hoodie..on the passenger side while the other two cops were shouting commands on the drivers side. the white hoodie guy appears to reach for something, not sure if it was a gun or something to break the window with. and point it at the passenger side window of the car. at about 20 seconds in, you see him fall backwards away from the car and the other two officers begin to now react to that and reach for their own sidearms. body camera footage will be telling here, if any were worn, but it looks like someone in the car fired first. in that case? it's game on.

You need to watch the original CPD Release. Each officers bodycam is shown broken down officer by officer. Maybe that is the problem why so many here are having trouble understanding exactly what went down. They are not watching the original release.
HERE Everyone should watch this and not those media cut up narratives that tell their lies

It is a new world. There are drugs out there that make you invincible. You ignore pain, you are psychotic and have no conscience. You recognize all confrontations as an existential threat. A traffic stop is an attempt to keep you from your life tasks. A friendly wave can be a threat. A smile means that person thinks they are better than you. You are hyped and all your senses are screaming at redline. Is it any wonder that the police are carrying guns that have 16 rounds in the magazine? Or a 30 round magazine in the AR in the trunk? Or an extended mag on the 12 gauge in the harness loaded with OO Buck? Instructors will advise them to empty the entire magazine in life or death situation because this zombie they are confronting will not go down without multiple hits to his vital areas. They quietly practice head shots as these are the most effective way to shut down a crazed perp.
