I just returned from my daily walk in downtown Portland. Well, I saw at least one business with boarded up windows. My coffee shop is shutting down at 2pm. They had a note saying they were concerned about the "demonstrations." Granted, this is a Snowflake coffee shop, but even they are nervous. Next, I took a leak at the public restroom on Salmon and Fourth. Two Park Rangers, city employed to deal with all the crap going on in the Portland Parks, were locking it up. They said all public restrooms downtown are going to be closed.
They also said the PPD is expecting 10,000, REPEAT 10,000 PROTESTERS, in downtown Portland for the rallies that will start at 4pm PST. This is 7pm EST, so it is another example of the detailed planning and coordination of the nationwide protests.
I will compare what I think is going to happen with not the 11-9-2016 protests, but with the huge, 5,000 to 10,000 Iraq anti-war demonstration/riots back in the spring of 2003. They were huge, went on for hours, and caused several millions in property damage downtown. This is what I think is going to happen.
The weather is rainy, but not too cold, especially after the intense cold and snow last week. Lock and Load, gang. The Snowflakes are going to bring it this afternoon and into the evening for sure.
