I watched it in the early 70's, and then off and on for a long time.

Little piece of trivia..

Eugene Bradford was played by John de Lancie from 1982 to 1986 and again in 1989 to 1990. Also known as Gene and Euge, he went by the pseudonym Bettina Lovecraft while working as a Salem Today columnist.

He was one of my favorite characters on that show. Nothing like Q (but I liked him as Q, too).

Not a CHANCE. Even if I were interested I'd be so far behind that not a lick of it would make sense. Some of those shows have been running longer than some anime have. And that's major. Crying out loud, One Piece has 1,026 episodes now. Days of Our Lives is actually up around 14 times that.

I used to love Days back in the 80s and 90s when it was early Bo and Hope, Steve and Kayla, and Stefano. Got a little too far fetched with the whole Marlena being possessed thing, though. Haven’t watched it in years. Last I saw it had gone pretty woke, so no big loss.

My mom will be very sad. She’s been watching since it started. I watched it with her when we were at her house in May, it’s gotten very trashy lately.

That's too bad. :( It's been maybe 10 years (probably closer to 15, maybe longer) since I last saw an episode. There were times I'd sometimes go a year or two in between watching it, and it was always pretty easy to pick up the story line(s), but I'm sure I'd be totally lost now. Some of the plots were nutty and convoluted as heck. When I read of Joseph Mascolo's death in real life, I wondered how the show would continue. Such a convenient villain Stefano was! :)

At least John de Lancie reprised his own character. I never could get past the same actor who played Chris Kositchek later playing Roman Brady. That wasn’t right.

No kidding! It had been several months since I'd watched it and was able to catch it one day and I was so confused. :ecrz:

The first time I saw John DeLancie as Q on TNG I did a triple-take! "Wait a minnit!"

I am very sad by this. I have watched Days for all the years it has been on the air. Started watching it as a child with my Mother. It HAS become very trashy. I always record it now so I can fast forward thru the gay scenes. I don't want my grandchildren exposed to any of it. I feel really bad for the elderly who love to watch it. I know so many that don't have smart TV's and have no idea how to watch it on Peacock. I refuse to pay for anything past my huge cable bill. They just keep taking everything away from us.

I like to misquote and attribute it by speaking of my "days o' our lives" figure, but otherwise never watched so much as the opening credits to it, or any other daytime soap.
..do recall hiding under the special quilt w/ family, peeking out from behind the pillows to see Dark Shadows last few episoddes- which I believe is a soap :shkr:

Wow. I know some people that is going to hack off. LOL.

When I was a kid soaps were the only thing on tv at certain times of day. And when you are stuck in bed or on the sofa too sick to do anything else it was still better than watching the news.
I always considered having to watch mom’s soaps when home sick on a school day a punishment and incentive to get well asap (and sleep)

Before tv it was listening to them on the radio which was just as bad

I recently watched the first few episodes of Dark Shadows. I can't believe how fast I got hooked on it even now. LOL It sure was a low budget production.

Only thing I remember is being a kid stuck inside the house on rainy afternoon making noise and my mother laying down on the couch with the TV on saying to me...

"Shhhh! ..........I can't hear my stories"

To which I said........

"What do you mean.....you were sleeping"

I stopped watching them in the early 90s. I was a stay at home mom, but realized they were a really bad influence for my kids. I had an Aunt that loved them. She also tried to keep things stirred up in anything she was involved in.

I find it interesting that NBC is willing to rob from their broadcast television operation to shore up the streaming side.

(NEXSTAR) – The 56-year-old soap “Days of Our Lives” won’t be broadcast on network television anymore, NBC announced Wednesday.

The show will be moved to NBC Universal’s streaming platform Peacock on Sept. 12. All new episodes will be added to Peacock, where old episodes are already available to stream for paying subscribers.

“NBC News Daily,” a new hourlong newscast, will air in its time slot, the company said in a press release.

Peacock has three payment tiers: free, $4.99 a month for “Premium,” and $9.99 a month for “Premium Plus.” NBC confirmed to Nexstar that “Days of Our Lives” will only be available those paying $4.99 per month or more – Premium and Premium Plus subscribers.

You have to pay for a Premium Plus membership to watch shows and movies without ads.

“This programming shift benefits both Peacock and NBC and is reflective of our broader strategy to utilize our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen engagement with viewers,” Mark Lazarus, Chairman, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in Wednesday’s announcement. “With a large percentage of the ‘Days of Our Lives’ audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers.”

“Days of Our Lives,” which premiered in 1965, is in its 55th season. The drama series is a 58-time Emmy Award winner, according to NBC.

Well lot's of people are going with the new fiber that the government is paying for in the outback, so children will have high speed internet for school. Do it for the children.

We did and did away with our sat internet and TV.

So to get the Chicago series and Premier League I pay the 5.34 a month with commercials. You can get the 10.00 a month package and while they say no commercials, if you'll read the small print, if you're streaming live you still get commercials. And there are a bunch of old series that are available, as in lots.

So this show is on, never watched it and won't now, but it comes up in ads and says it's like season 55, episode 195 or something like that. Just seeing that is hilarious.

FYI Paramount + has the same thing and even more new series that are only streaming for Star Trek, Seal Team, and HALO.

This is actually why I started the thread. I mean really, WTH is going on these days? And I’m sure that even when paying, you’ll be required to see commercials.
