My mom would listen to the soaps and lots of other things on the radio when I was young. I think the radio was on most of the day, from early morning until bedtime. But she never watched any daytime TV when we finally got that Motorola B&W set in the Fall of 1950...I think at first there was no daytime TV. I remember there was a test pattern on for a little while before Howdy Doody came on at 3:30 or 4:00 PM.

That’s still playing? It was on when I was in middle school ( maybe even grade school) 50 years ago.
General Hospital was popular then As well.
I remember watching about one half of one episode of General Hospital. Some (handsome, for the ladies) dude had just come out of having brain surgery. He had a gauze pad taped over a FULL head of hair. Click.

Never watched them. Long time ago when the kids where babies I watched Young n the Restless and general hospital.
Loved seeing Rick Springfield back then on General Hospital. Saw him in concert a few times and got to meet him back stage. He was super nice.

God has a plan, Trust it!
I think this move is a cultural move. With so many people doing away with their cable bill, getting rid of those regular channels, in favor of streaming TV, they know their days are numbered (pun intended). As the older generation dies off and the younger generation not seeing these shows because they choose other vehicles for entertainment, if they want to keep the show in front of a new generation of viewers, they need to change their delivery method.

I think it was good to watch in the 1960’s while I had to peel apples, peaches, tomatoes etc. for canning. I don’t remember a single thing about any show. My tastes ran to Tarzan, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, etc. Momma put up 500-800 quarts of food each fall.
