MORON A coffee ban is next

I don't drink coffee myself but I know people who do. Separating people from their coffee could be a dangerous thing. I don't want to be caught in that traffic jam going to D.C.

This garbage has got Obama written all over it.:fgr2:

Coffee/tea drinkers aren't going to make it, when the SHTF.
Depends on how much you got stashed away.

I drink 3 big cups a day at work, about the same at home. I have stopped for week before with no withdrawals or headaches. That first cup after a week sure was good.

Bricks of sealed coffee make good barter items as does whiskey and vac packed tobacco and rolling papers.

Hubby and I drink no coffee and we've cut way back on tea. We've cut back on sugar in all areas. What is going to be the booger for us is salt due to the humidity and amount of sweating we do here in the Deep South. But salt is a local product, or was, and enterprising individuals will make it be that again.

Flour will be expensive but cornmeal and grits will be locavore. Irish potatoes will be problematic but sweet potatoes do well.

Some seasonings will be local but the spices like cinnamon, anise, and similar are going to be off the charts expensive. We can grow the vanilla orchid here in some parts of Florida but they don't produce reliably so I have gallons ... yes, gallons ... of vanilla stashed as well as several pounds of dried vanilla beans. My son is able to grow apples here but not in any large number but citrus practically grows itself as do many other tropical fruits so our Vit C intake is assured.

Rather than bitching about taking your coffee cups from your cold dead hands, you might wanna think more in terms of how are you going to replace something that simply vanishes from the grocery shelves due to other factors like war, crop failures, economical stressors, etc. Give them no more power over you than you can.

Coffee is not a need no matter what your brain and shaky gun hand tells you.

Caffeine powder, while it doesn't have that great coffee taste, might still be a good prep investment if you can find it. Be sure to keep it away from children and pets, and learn to dose correctly.

ETA: Also, consider taking L-Theanine with your caffeine. It cuts the 'sharp edge' caffeine can leave you with. It also seems to lower the anxiety experienced with caffeine alone, and reduces the post-caffeine feeling of tiredness many experience.

Getting ready to enjoy a special cup of Costa Rican finest bean. We roast our own. Buy it in 50# bags direct. But just to see what it taste like we roasted wheat berries. Surprisingly it tasted like coffee without caffeine. Not the better beans but still tasted like coffee.
Roasted pumpkin seeds (to beyond the golden brown eating stage) also have a "coffee like" flavor...

And which variety would that be? I am a fan of Terrazu, just not La Pastora, as she(DW) is not fond of their specific taste. All the rest are OK to her.

Me? Jamaican Blue Mountain is hard to beat. In fact, I am brewing up a pot for travel today.

Terrazu is the bean of the day. It is not the only bean we use but I like the Central and South American beans. Never touch the stuff from Africa. The still process the hulls in the dirt.

For those interested, here's how scarcity and product restrictions during WW2 affected women's fashions. Women even drew lines up the back of their legs to simulate stockings.

Thanks for posting that link, it was an interesting read.

I've also heard of dandelion root as a coffee alternative.......got plenty of those lol! maybe I should try roasting some and see how it is. I could do without it but I'd prefer not. It's a comfort thing at this point.

This link might help in understanding long term storage of Green Coffee Beans: Roasted & Green Coffee Storage

Sweet Maria are the people I buy my green beans from for roasting. Have never had a bad batch. Incredible varieties available and good pricing. If you're looking for all kinds of information on buying beans, how to roast your own and coffee roasters, everything from converted Popcorn Poppers to homemade and commercial home roasters check out their Coffee Library.

Told my DW about the WEF's comments. Her answer was that if they come after my coffee, they better plan to "SLEEP WITH THE FISHES!" And no, she's not Italian.....German & Irish. All the same, DON'T mess with her coffee or her whiskey.....you'll get hurt!

Agreed but I can't afford very often. Japan buys up most of it which drives up the cost for the rest of us.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but as a caffeine imbiber (tea), I'm in solidarity with you all.

I have to wonder, though, how many people, thinking they are doing something *good*, actually will stop (or try to stop) drinking coffee.
If the "I am saving the planet lemmings " want to stop - Fine - however it is when they then insist that everybody needs to follow - even via laws and threats that there is a problem. Just look at the "man made global warming" scam and the insane Green laws and regulations. The CV19 drama take the shot or your killing your grandmother. Our "betters" have control of the information space and spend Billions in the art of propaganda to push their narrative.

I've been home roasting for about 30 years. Green beans can store way better than once it's been roasted. Good to stock up on especially since the prices are not getting any lower.

I too like Sweet Marias and also Burman Coffee (good descriptions, reviews as well as customer service)

Don’t let the Piss Ants get you down…
I thoroughly enjoy a couple of cups of Joe each morning. If unable to have them, I’d be inconvenienced but not in withdrawal.

Now, the entire idea of limiting or depriving me of products I wish to buy because of others ideas of “what’s right”, will flat out piss me off and put me in an extremely oppositional state.

I can read it now: coffee bean plantations suddenly burning down; coffee bean warehouses suddenly going up in flames. Ships carrying coffee beans explode and sink into the sea. Next, it will be gardens. Come and take it!

Seed company businesses going up in flames; seeds taken off the market for one reason or another. Perhaps Gates and others will buy up the seed companies...crazy, crazy times.

Coffee is not a need no matter what your brain and shaky gun hand tells you.

As long as I'm working for pay, it's a need, not a want.
I have cut back to 6 oz, but I need it to function: I have to keep track of a lot of details.

I have lived without coffee and tea. Maybe I'll do so again when I "retire."

If you are not adverse to tea, and live in Zone 6 or higher, there's this: Camellia sinensis (Assam Tea, Tea Camellia, Tea Plant, Tea Tree Camellia) | North Carolina Extension Gardener Plant Toolbox

We have several ornamental Camellias on the property... I'd hate to have to try to make tea from them, but at least there's the possibility...

THANKS, I live in Zone 8, and am working on a list of all the fruit & nut trees, bushes, brambles and whatever I can grow in my area. Anything edible, herbal and medicinal!! This will definitely be going on the list and planted as soon as possible.

Saved, to glorify God.
Why dont we plant REAL coffee plants here in America?
With our wide variety of climates in America I'm sure they would grow somewhere!

I got some of those green coffee beans from the survival warehouse in with my storage along with a little grinder.
I figure based on what I'm seeing here they will be worth more than gold.
