MNKYPOX Monkeypox - Consolidated Thread.

I have seen a couple of posts mentioning this but they never say if the infected people ( who were vaccinated and showed no symptoms) were able to spread the disease to others.

If the person's vaccination status and immune response were strong enough to prevent symptoms of infection, then they probably dispatched the virus before it had a chance to propagate within their system. They would therefore be unlikely to shed any virus. However, they could certainly carry monkeypox fomites from place to place, just like anyone else.

I don't know if there is potential for a "typhoid Mary" situation, but that involved a gut bacteria, not a virus.

From looking at the graph, it appears that the infection rate is increasing relatively slowly (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) rather than the other, scarier rates of increase (e.g., 1, 2, 4, 8, 16) and (e.g., 1, 4, 16, 64). So this moves a bit slower than Covid-19 did.

The (tallied, counted, acknowledged) infection rate is increasing relatively slowly.

There are plenty of first-hand accounts detailing their troubles at getting a test, or even being denied testing altogether due to the outbreak's 'origin' and it's largest demographic, (eta:) and those denied the testing weren't part of that demographic...

I wouldn't take the graph to be anything more than a general indicator, while keeping in mind that there are multiple agendas at play - perhaps more so even than 'Science'.

eta: My take is it's likely the number of people exposed is 5x-10x the number reported. Exposed, not necessarily ill with the virus... though it's a certainty that some will eventually present symptoms. How many, that's the question.

And I still want to know the number of 'Cases' tallied which are CV-vaccinated vs. non-vaccinated.

That's what happens when you deliberately restrict access to testing. This is their chosen method of restricting the data showing sharp increases. It is also being used to bolster "this a gay men spread narrative." What do you think happens, when women or children show up in ER USA, has blisters and asks for a Monkeypox test? I know, because I have read about people's frustrating experiences.

I'm surprised how many have learned nothing from the CV rollout - or have already forgotten.

This is precisely why I'm ready for the vaccine.

My default response to a vaccine at this point is to distrust it. So we're pulling up the drawbridge and we'll wait for vax reports to start coming in. Delay is your friend.

Early indications are that they were tinkering with MP in the lab, along with WuFlu. So what will the New Improved MP do, other than laying waste to your immune system? And what will the New Improved vax do in conjunction? Interesting times.

Monkeypox outbreak can be contained, White House says

AFP
July 24, 2022 9:15 am
The White House said Sunday it was confident authorities could “eliminate” monkeypox from the United States by speeding up the rollout of vaccinations and treatment to combat the virus’s spread.

“I think monkeypox can be contained, absolutely,” doctor Ashish Jha, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, told CBS News talk show “Face the Nation.”

“We have acted swiftly,” Jha said, pushing back against accusations that President Joe Biden’s administration was caught flat-footed when the first cases began appearing in US states more than two months ago.

He said Washington has undertaken a “very substantial” ramp-up of its response, including the recent acquisition of some 800,000 vaccine doses from Denmark, since the start of the US outbreak in May, when monkeypox vaccine stockpiles were limited.

“The plan is to eliminate this virus from the United States. I think we can do that,” Jha said.

The World Health Organization on Saturday declared the monkeypox outbreak a global health emergency, having affected nearly 17,000 people in 74 countries.

US lawmakers and mayors have complained of the Biden administration’s response, including House Democrat Adam Schiff who wrote the country’s health secretary this week to warn that “the federal government is falling short of the response that is needed.”

The center of the US outbreak is New York City, where most of the recorded cases are in men who have sex with men.

Jha acknowledged that the virus is spreading largely in the gay male community, but stressed that “there are other people who are at risk as well,” particularly those who are in close personal contact with people who are infected.

Does anyone know what happened to the 300 million doses of smallpox vaccine that the United States used to have? These newer vaccines are only available in relatively small quantities, such as 800,000 to 10 million or so. That is not sufficient. What happened to the old stockpile? If it's gone or is past its usable date without replacement, then whoever allowed that to happen committed treason against the people of this country.

Quote from study:

Findings We identified widespread surface contamination (66 positive out of 73 samples) in occupied patient rooms, on healthcare worker personal protective equipment after use, and in doffing areas. Five out of fifteen air samples taken were positive. Significantly, three of four air samples collected during a bed linen change in one patient’s room were positive.

Hotel workers are at high risk, but consider the number of guests who walk by the carts holding soiled laundry in the hallways.

They're prioritizing vaccines and medications for a demographic that will not control their voluntary behavior. The vaccines should go to healthcare workers and public service workers with direct public contact.

Local teachers flatly refused to teach in person because of covid. We have increased numbers of covid deaths here now. It's not even winter. I've heard of coinfection with flu locally, and again it's not winter yet.

Most of us can think of more intelligent ways to handle public health. We're on our own to protect ourselves. I think self-isolation is best, if you're able. Masks, eye protection, and gloves are the next level, but it's so damn hot.

It’ll collapse.
I’ve already read, many nurses and ER workers say, that they’re about ready to leave the profession from the strain.
I know you have, too.

Not much interesting in this article (just rehash), except these two paragraphs do have some mildly interesting information...

The Biden administration is weighing whether to declare the nation’s monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency and also plans to name a White House coordinator to oversee the response as officials attempt to keep the virus from becoming entrenched in the United States.

The White House is also closing in on a national monkeypox coordinator, having concluded the role is necessary to manage an increasingly sprawling response that has drawn in Chief of Staff Ron Klain — who coordinated the U.S. response to Ebola during the Obama administration — as well as White House coronavirus coordinator Ashish Jha, infectious-disease expert Anthony S. Fauci, and dozens of other national security and health officials. Two people who were not authorized to discuss the plan said the administration is considering people with expertise in epidemic response and government operations.

While we are doing everything we can to help Monkeypox spread in the US, India may be taking a different approach:

[Note: LNJP Hospital is an isolation hospital, from what I have read. Bolding is mine.]

International travellers with Monkeypox symptoms to be sent to LNJP Hospital from Delhi airport
Last Updated: Jul 25, 2022, 11:41 PM IST

New Delhi: International travellers arriving in Delhi with monkeypox symptoms such as high fever and back pain will be sent to the LNJP Hospital from the airport, sources said on Monday. The decision was taken in a review meeting chaired by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Monday, they said. The Delhi government on Monday asked district authorities and officials concerned to adhere to the Centre's guidelines on management of the infection, which also state that referral arrangements from airport/port to identified link hospital need to be established or strengthened.

The sources said that those travellers having symptoms like high fever, back pain and joint pain at the IGI Airport will be sent to the isolation ward at LNJP Hospital, which has a special 20-member team to deal with such patients.

The samples of suspected patients will be sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune, while the district administration will quarantine the family members and carry out contact tracing of such suspected patients, they said.

"Reviewed the monkeypox situation in Delhi along with CS, Secy Health, DGHS & others concerned. Was apprised of preparedness in terms of medical services, hospital infrastructure, tracing, testing, surveillance & clinical management. Advised officials to ensure all preventive measures. I appeal to the people to not panic and follow all prescribed prevention and treatment protocols," Saxena said in a series of tweets.

In the first reported case of monkeypox in Delhi, a 34-year-old person from west Delhi was found infected. He is currently in LNJP Hospital and will take at least a week to fully recover.

The airport health teams currently screen patients with suspected Covid-19 symptoms and some symptoms of the two infections are similar, the sources said, adding that no decision has been taken yet on increasing surveillance at the airport.
