John Deere Girl, you can use vinegar as a fabric softener. It doesn't have to be the expensive name brand type.

Vinegar will rinse away shampoo and any other crap that won't rinse well off of your hair. Your hair will be soft and shiny and if you rinse the vinegar out well, you won't even smell like a pickle! One time when I was in high school (back in covered wagon days, according to my oldest daughter!) I had shampooed my long thick hair and found I'd run out of creme rinse. I also found that Mom had run out of vinegar, so out of desperation, I used the some of the juice from a quart of dill pickles. It worked great,

6 months is all they guaranteed it for. We had to replace it every 6 months when we were using it in the dairy. You can buy tablets at Walmart... there are 30 tabs in a small plastic bottle, and it's the equivalent, of 2 1/2 gallons. They store very well.

Excellent. This is what I wanted to know. We're researching tablets and powdered bleach; apparently powdered bleach is a thing in the janitorial industry.

Just ordered some cans of Keystone pork. I plan on making large batches of scrapple to eat for breakfasts. One can should make 4 or 5 loaves. We are allergic to some of the ingredients so we have to make our own. Makes a nice winter breakfast and stretches the pork a long way.

Just back from Kroger, SE MI, where I had fun at the meat case, pasting "I did that" stickers on outrageously-priced beef cuts and bone-in hams. Having this much fun should be illegal! Too dang cold out to paste any on the gas pumps. or I would've done that, too.
I dont get it. What are those?

It probably is illegal in liberal regions.

I received 2 cases of Pasta Sauce from Walmart. Sweated the glass bottles but they were fine packaged from manufacturer.
20lbs of flour and some soup mixes from Bob's Red Mill
Vitacost order was intact but took forever. Herbs, supplements, facial tissue, misc food items like pepperocini and pastas.
Instacart order. A lot of meat from Aldis. They have the best prices around here and nicest meat. Bought 2 of Organic chuck roasts, sirloin steaks, ground beef, and stew meat. Gave one of each to neighbor. Plus some of the other stuff I ordered. Don't want her to have to humble herself asking.
Going to start baking bread again. This is getting really scary with these prices. It's all too hard to believe even for people like us that are aware of what these NWO creeps are doing to us.
Bottled water is hit and miss as is bread. Have to shop more than one store plus online. At what point are people going to lose it? Prices can't go much higher without trouble of some kind.

If you have freezer space don't forget the restaurant supply stores

Went to our local US Chefs Store (used to be cash n Carry Resturaunts supply) and got chuck roast for 3.99 lb. Almost 30 lbs! for $118.00. Now to cut up into smaller roasts and freeze. Will need to take out lower priority food to make room but I want as much meat as I can store!

I took a break, now that I have space to work in the kitchen I'll be canning meat again.

My local Shurfine store that now has new owners, the price of a head of lettuce was $4.99. Some higher prices through out the store but no real shortages. They are a mom and pop store so their prices are a little higher, otherwise it's a gallon of gas to go downtown and back. Last week I stopped at Walmart and there was almost no canned cat food left on the shelves. Had to buy what there was which wasn't much. Just got back from Aldies and Walmart. Aldies has a few thin shelves, but it's a weekend with a lot of shoppers out. Walmart's cat food shelves were worse this week. Four 12 can boxes of a brand my cats will eat and that's all there was except on the far end the real expensive stuff and it too was almost gone. I wanted a turkey breast for one for the holiday but there were none and they only had a handful of frozen left. Maybe two shopping carts full.

I was in Kroger (suburban Memphis) today.

Lots of holes on the coffee aisle. They had maybe 20% of What coffee they would normally carry.

Lots of holes on the soft drink aisle.

In fact, lots of holes were all over the store, though there was still plenty of mérchandise on the shelves.

prices were very high.

Barry, your shortages in the Memphis area are beginning to bleed over into our area of Tupelo. Walmart stores here are almost empty with hardly anything on the shelves. I've never seen it this bad here. Other grocery stores such as Kroger are beginning to look the same. The prices are awful, too.

Milk is up to $2.69 in Ohio for a gallon. Major holes again. Rice and beans hit hard was able to score a bag of each. No turkeys at all. This old lady looked like she was going to cry. I feel sorry for her, she was probably cooking for her family/children and grandchildren. 6 pack of Pepsi 16.9 oz in plastic bottles was $4.99. Bread was all $2. (Forgot to look at generic store brand price). Spices are still up. Personally I think all these companies are conspiring to raise their prices (the ones that actually don’t need to). I can see Kraft saying, hey let’s raise our prices along with everyone else, and people will think it’s normal.

A quick visit to WalMart today.
Lettuce .98/head, the lowest price I've seen in years.
Yogurt stock is low, but increasing.
Gatorade has been so low or out, for months, that all other sports drinks are now low or out.
Turkeys back to plentiful.
Frozen veggies very low again. About 100 empty cardboard boxes inside freezers tells me a shortage of workers in this area.
Frozen waffles & pancakes, along with maple syrup almost out. Pancake mixes plentiful. Can't people cook?
Goya section cleared out of cans/bottles of most products. Dried beans plentiful, being 50% higher priced than GV brand.
Gallon jugs of cooking oil almost out, smaller containers plentiful.
Everything else plentiful.
No white space above, as it'll come in the form of watching that first Star Wars movie again.

Where is your WalMart located?

Report from BIL in Chicagoland; the Jewel in Glen Ellyn was completely out of any sort of beef. The space was being filled with turkey sausage and prepared meals.

OT but a huge dot; the animal shelters up there are seeing a huge increase in the number of dogs and cats being dropped off; I suspect people can no longer afford to keep them. He volunteers with a rabbit rescue (please don't laugh, he's serious about it) and he says those are being dropped off in substantial numbers as well. When people can't feed their pets......

I've been unfortunately expecting this... so many people adopted pets during quarantine, but it's just about time for them to be getting bored with them, and "too busy" to care for them. The huge cost increases are just an added factor...

Also, people are getting more/less permanently sick, or dying off.
We down-sized after I got sick this Summer. Found GOOD homes for our larger poultry, and the goats. I miss them, but no regrets. Hard decisions.

Yup...I've been watching for the worm to turn on this. I'm in the market for a good replacement Lab for cheap. The present girls are getting old without a lot of time left, but not too old to train in another young dog for me. One of those nice English-bred yellows would be nice. Or two. Haha! One (or two) that some idiot paid $1500 for and now wants to dump. And maybe even got them through the table-leg-chewing months for me. ;)

So far here, the shelters are still importing dogs from other parts of the country because there are no local strays/drop-offs. And of course they are all ghetto mutts - pits or pit X's - a big fat NEVER.

After our beloved lab passed away, I put in a word with a neighbor who works for the local pound. Asked him to keep an eye out for a German Shephard-type dog. Worked like a charm.

Most breeds have a network of breed-specific rescues, if you haven't already been searching there.

In my experience, breed specific rescues are usually run by a bunch of nuts. :)
I'll wait for the shelter. No big hurry.

So, since I've been partially responsible for the thread drift, I'll try to drag the thing back on the rails a little. Just found out this morning that I'm cooking Thanksgiving dinner for more out-of-towners than originally planned, and will have houseguests for a good part of that week, so back to the store for some focused planning. :)

The local/regional grocery chain has Jennie-o turkeys at .66/lb with $25.00 in purchases. No problem there, so as I take the .87/lb Aldi Butterball out of the freezer to thaw, I can replace it with another cheap turkey. Canned Green Giant vegetables on sale for .66/can, Campbells Cream of Mushroom or Chicken - .88/can, New York Strip - $8.98/lb, and yes, they have fresh, bagged cranberries. I haven't bought iceberg lettuce in 20 years, so I'm no help there.

The meat store has 10lb. bulk lean burger bags at $3.99/lb, their special holiday sausage (my very favorite) at $4.99/lb, boneless pork roasts and butterflied pork chops at $2.49/lb.

Sorry, SB... I ordinarily believe in sharing what I have with others, but not when it comes down to shaaring my community’s grocery shortages...

Live Free & Die Free.... God Freedom Country....
Bought Milk Bone dog chews from Sam's yesterday to be delivered.

There were no toilet paper or paper towels available for shipping. The website said to check your local store for availability.

This has been going on for weeks.

By TP & Paper Towels when you can find them.
