Hey y'all
I managed to get a few chores done yesterday, but mostly just enjoyed not having to be anywhere or do anything in particular. I wonder how long that feeling will last when I retire
I ran to town and picked up the boys; then took them to the Evil Empire to pick up school supplies. Lord have mercy! Hubby has today off work - I'm going to ask him to run in to town and fill any empty fuel containers, and to unhook my hose from the power washer - I've already got a scraped knuckle from trying to do so this morning and ended up watering the porch plants with a pitcher of water instead. Those are the only things I plan to ask of him, so he surely can't complain too much....
I checked the flower bed I planted 3 - 16' long rows of coneflower seed in - lots of grass, some wild morning glory and a few other weeds, but no coneflower sprouts. I did plant quite a few coneflower seeds in trays on the porch, several of those have come up and some have their second set of leaves already. I'll give the ones in the flower bed a bit longer to see if they are going to do anything - since it's too darn wet to till it anyway.
The garden is still soggy - there are new, 3" deep deer tracks going down the pole bean row, so I won't be getting in there to weed or harvest - only thing ready right now are cherry tomatoes and peppers anyway. The neighbor with the market garden if offering green beans and tomatoes by the bushel and half bushel; I've got several cases of green beans left so will just buy enough to have fresh ones on the table until mine are producing better. I might get a half bushel of tomatoes to make salsa with though...
Heard the crows raising Cain a bit ago - they are up in the top of the pines on our west property line but keep moving south down the line of pines. Not sure what they are harassing, but whatever it is, they don't like it! I'm grateful for my crow early warning system - guess I need to go to the thrift store and buy them some more bling
Daughter has been crazy busy - the woman who had been living in her rental house and was supposedly going to buy it called her on Thursday and told her she had moved out. Daughter went over to check and the place was a disaster, still lots of furniture and other stuff in the house and garage, so she hauled everything out and had a garage sale while cleaning it up so she could see what she would need to do to get the house in shape to sell it. One more thing on her already full plate.
I'm going to try to get a nap in - have to go sit on metal bleachers in the hot sun to watch the 10 year old grandson practice his football lineman skills this evening - I guess I'm going to have to learn football all over again
My school was too small to field a football team, but daughter went to a larger high school so I got a crash course then as she was a cheerleader, and another short refresher course when step-granddaughter cheered. I've managed to forget everything I knew since then, however...
And speaking of a nap, if I'm going to get one, I'd better go fight for my spot on the couch - or evict a grandson out of my recliner
Take care all; have a wonderful day!
