Would like suggestions

I have earned enough points on my credit card to get $750 worth of gift cards. I was going to go ahead and turn in the points for the gift cards in case we do see our selves in another war soon ....I figured I may have problems afterwards. Anyway, I can get shell gas station, k mart, target, and sears. There are others but these are the ones I was thinking I may be able to use for prepping. I am leaning towards getting all gas cards but I am not really sure if I should use all the points for gas cards or get some gas cards and maybe some K mart. We have a super k mart which does have food items so I thought those maybe helpful too.

Does anyone have any suggestions? If I used all points for shell gas cards, do you think I would have any problems using them if we do go to war?

Thanks.

Julie,

I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket so to speak. Maybe get $200 or less of it in gas cards and the rest in Kmart or other stores who have food. Buy food, first aid/over the counter med preps and other prep items you might need to bug out, tent, sleeping bags, flashlights, hunting knife, crank radio etc. Just a suggestion. If the grid goes out no one will be getting gas at a station.

Yes, spread it out

Consider your most costly expenses and put a large portion there, but parcel the rest out.

I agree with daisy. Never put all your eggs in one basket. Do some in gas and some in other things. It depends on what really happens as to what you will need most. I would cover all my bases.

Don't get them all from the same place. The Targets I go to have a small grocery section and they have good prices on cereal. They sell toilet paper there, too.

Sears cards might be good if you need to get some tools. Sears also has their winter clothes WAAYYYYY marked down now.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I think you all are right....I am going to order some of the shell, kmart and target. I appreciate your feedback. Now, I just hope I can get them before anything happens!

ABSOLUTELY!

I would get the cards all from Shell. Trade them for cash NOW with friends/family (who have to buy gas anyway). Then do anything you want with the cash.

p.s. some of those cards have expiration dates.

You don't want to be holding a lot of gas cards if they are rationing gas or there's gas shortages or gas is $5.00- $10.00 a gallon. If you can store it safely, maybe using some of that money on filled gas cans in a ventilated area makes sense?

How long is your food storage going to last you? $100 on sale canned goods goes a long ways.
