Would *I* Lie???
I posted this in December when she was lost... can't find the thread now using "Ice, eagle river, dog dogs" etc... crazy. Thread merger would be fine if someone has the other thread link handy. Damn sad. I'd jump in a lake for my dog.. a river with flowing water is a death wish. Unless your plan is to go down there and comfort them in death... ice of varying thicknesses VERY hard to break through from the bottom, especially if too deep to push off of bottom. Eagle river is a FAST running glacier river that has lots of trees collapsing in from steep sides in areas, lots of snaggs to catch you and get stuck under water even without being iced over. I hope she found solace in her final moments, and I bet her dog helped with that. :-/

EAGLE RIVER, Alaska (KTUU) - The body of a woman who went missing in Eagle River on Dec. 23 of last year has been located.
The family says officials confirmed to them Tuesday that the body found in the Eagle River on Palm Sunday is Amanda Richmond Rogers, a 45-year-old mother of four and avid outdoorswoman who went missing after leaping into icy waters to rescue one of her dogs that had fallen through the ice.
Alaska State Troopers and the AK Dive Search Rescue and Recovery Team searched relentlessly for Richmond Rogers, who was seen at one point swimming underneath a layer of ice in an attempt to reach her beloved pet.
Amanda’s sister Jennifer Richmond confirmed that she was found with her dog in her arms and that to her boys, “she really did die a hero.”
On Sunday, a person notified Anchorage Police of a deceased person’s remains near the North Fork Trailhead in Eagle River. A dispatch from police stated that a woman’s body was recovered from the river and taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and to determine cause of death.
A celebration of life was held earlier this month to honor the missing woman who touched many lives as an emergency room and pediatric hospice nurse.
