Wild Boar recipes needed

My dear friends across the street are moving and since their new freezer won't be delivered for a while, presented me with some frozen wild boar.

I don't know what to do with it - make stew? Grill it like steaks?

I have a recipe for Hunter's Stew using venison, would that work? (I can't eat venison...it has to do with creatures with soft brown fur and big brown eyes.)

Any suggestions as to how to prepare it are appreciated - also any comments on whether or not you've eaten it, and if it was tasty...many thanks!

Blessings,
Jeannie

It's just ham/pork/pig
Might want to defrost it in some cheap wine in case they didn't bleed it out real good to get rid of the "Wild" taste.

Jeannie,
I would second Bill's advise on defrosting in a light wine or vinegar. I only fixed boar a few times, but the meat is noted for being tough. Unless your neighbor's animal was a young one. Other than the need to tenderize, treat it like pork roast. Maybe grind it to make your own sausage? Enjoy! It's Just Me

Wild Boar tends to cook very dry, so marinating in wine or vinager is a good idea. Beer works well took. The slow cook it in something like a clay pot, heavy pan or baking dish covered in foil. My husband likes to use things like cidar and apples to keep it moist. It also makes good sausage or bar-ba-que, provided you remember its a lot leaner than a farm raised pig.
